27 Muzzles Myth Fact A muzzle is a muzzle; they re all the same. There are two main types of muzzle, basket and occlusion. Every responsible handler should choose a muzzle according to intended usage. Basket muzzles allow the dog to pant and drink water freely and are acceptable for long time use. Do not leave a dog unattended while wearing any muzzle. Occlusion muzzles shut the dog s mouth and are only acceptable for short time use like grooming and veterinary visits, and socialization.
