1 Cougar Times Created by the Newspaper Class of Winchester High School 1st March Articles Dog Fighting Kelsey Newton What I will be talking about is why dog fighting is dangerous, why people still do it now, Who created it, How it can kill other animals and how it is against the law to fight dogs. The most breeded dogs to fight are: American Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, bull terrier, and bulldog. These breeds are the most common dogs to fight. We should make dog fighting a law so that way no dogs get hurt or killed because of the domestic violence toward the other dogs. Thousands of dogs are killed everyday because of dog fighting. The cops usually find in the gangs is guns, drugs, and other murder weapons on the humans to kill their dogs because they lost a fight. We should not see dogs being attacked or seeing them losing an eye or any part of the body. Its sad to see animals die because of abuse, fighting or neglect. The people that do dog fighting put their dogs in a pit to fight. The dog fights can last up to one or two hours. The dog's owner usually takes off running away from the cops. If we see or hear

about a dog fight in our area or in our neighborhood we should call the cops or call the authorities and tell them what is going on and so they can get caught for doing the dog fights.

But if you are going to come up to high school next year you will be doing this project. The first thing is each student will get put into one of the two families the Capulets or the Montagues.

English 1 project By:Jaeden Hettinger If you're a freshman in English 1 which I m pretty sure most of the freshman are, you already done this project. But if you are going to come up to high school next year you will be doing this project. The first thing is each student will get put into one of the two families the Capulets or the Montagues. Then students will choose family colors. Then the class will read the story and I'm not going to give away too much but six people die in the play. Then have challenge questions each day. In 3rd hour the winners were the Montagues and in 4th hour was the Montagues. In an upset 5th hour the winners were Capulets. The thing Mrs. Brennecke was amazed about is that the 3rd hour Capulets even though they lost they invited the Montagues to their little party even though the Montagues had a pizza party to end the feud.

Caleb VanDeVelde Regional title The West Central boys basketball team played their very last game on Friday night. The Cougars faced the Carrollton Hawks which was a tough matchup for the Cougars.

3 Caleb VanDeVelde Regional title The West Central boys basketball team played their very last game on Friday night. The Cougars faced the Carrollton Hawks which was a tough matchup for the Cougars. The Cougars already played Carrollton twice this season. The first game was a win for West Central winning by 15 and the next game Carrollton had beat West Central by 11. West Central had done everything they possibly could to try and bring up the win against the Hawks. West Central lead after the first quarter and going into the half West Central had a 2 point lead. This game was a close game all night long going back and forth from both teams. The 4th quarter was the most interesting quarter all night long. Down the stretch Jacob Hurrelbrink hit the last 10 points for the Cougars coming all from the freethrow line. The last 10 points the Hawks scored came from two people. The Cougars had a one point lead with 13 seconds remaining but Jeremy Watson came down and hit a shot with 10 seconds remaining that gave Carollton a one point lead. This lifted Carrollton for a regional title and a heartbreaking loss for the Cougars.

Ethan Hartley Winchester Grade School Renovation The Winchester Grade School is going to renovate the inside of the the school at the end of the school year.

4 Ethan Hartley Winchester Grade School Renovation The Winchester Grade School is going to renovate the inside of the the school at the end of the school year. They are going to tear up all of the tile and carpet that is in the school and are putting down new better tile. They are going to tear out all the restrooms and put new toilets, sinks and stalls. They are going to tear out the bleachers in the gym and put those on the football field. After the bleachers are taken out they are going to rip up the floor and put a new gym floor down. They are going to make a big change to the office doors. Now you have to push a button outside and wait for the office to click another button so you can come in. Instead of that they are going to have two sets of doors. The first set will always be unlocked so you can get out of the weather and then they are going to make glass windows to put on that side of the office so everyone in the office can see who is coming into the school. After you go through the first set of doors you will have to hit a button so the office knows you want in and they will click a button to unlock the door. They don't like the set up now because

5 the office workers can t really see where people go after they unlock the door for them. A big reason for the renovation is so they can put an HVAC in. They are going to tear out all of the boiler stuff and put a brand new HVAC system in. They are also putting in some new and safer things in the kitchen. After all the stuff gets put in they are putting a lot of new doors in the grade school. Winchester Play Chase Burk Our school is doing a spring play on Cinderella. The main character, Cinderella is played by Olivia Hoots. There are 38 in the play including Izzy Cox, Chaney Parker, Sydni Wingler, Josh Hamilton, Adrian Starks, and Delaney Gregory are just a couple of people that are in the play. Miss Messenger is the director while Miss Killebrew is the assistant of the play. Tom Welch is in charge of the spotlights and technical stuff. Kristie Clayton is in charge of the audio. I was told the play should be really good and they hope to see you all there! The play is on Friday the 3rd at 7:00 pm, Saturday the 4th at 7:00 pm, and Sunday the 5th at 2:00 pm. The show first aired on February 6, 2005 right after the Super Bowl. The cast of the show consist of the father Stan, the mother Francine, their son Steve, their daughter Hayley, and the alien Roger they re harboring from the government. The only thing about them harboring an alien from the government, is that Stan works for the CIA, Central Intelligence Agency. So if Roger wants to go out of the house he has to wear a disguise, usually he dresses up as just anything he feels like, but it can get weird at some times. Besides the alien dressing weird, the son loves science. On one episode, he went to space camp with three of his other friends. Yet while being there they found that space camp wasn t like what they thought it would be. So they dug a tunnel to escape and get home, all because Roger had girls sleeping in Steve s room while he was gone. And the daughter, she s a hippie that likes to smoke weed and make everything organic and protest guns and everything that a hippie likes to do. She usually likes to try and make her dad mad but it ends up that they love each other a lot. Seth McFarlane is the man that does the voice of both Stan Smith and the alien Roger, Stan's wife Francine is voiced by Wendy Schaal. Stans son Steve is given a voice by Scott Grimes, and Hayley is given a voice by Rachael MacFarlane. Finally their fish Klaus is brought to life with a voice by Dee Bradley Baker. So if you want to see how this show goes check it out yourself and see what you think of it. Far Cry 4 By Allie Davidson Far Cry 4 is an open world game for the PS4, PS3, XBOX ONE, and XBOX 360. In Far Cry 4 you are Ajay Ghale, a Kyrati-American who is on a quest to spread his deceased mother s ashes in the fictional country Kyrat. The main setting in Far Cry 4 is in Kyrat located in the Himalayas. Throughout the game, players can run,

7 leap, and crouch. They also have the ability to use weapons such as shotguns, crossbows, sniper rifles, mines, throwing knives, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers. The allows players to take cover to avoid gunfights and to perform melee takedowns from above or up-close on your enemies. Players can use a variety of methods to approach missions. The player-character is equipped with digital camera, which allows him to mark and highlight all visible enemies, animals, and loots. Players are also able to ride elephants, which serve as tank-like. Players can throw bait to attract nearby wildlife to attack enemies. Players can also hunt and skin animals. I have not beat this game yet so I do not know how the game ends.
