December 14, 2018 All animals to be exhibited during the 2019 Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Show will be officially nominated by each exhibitor according to guidelines established for each species by the Jr. Livestock Show Board of Directors. Premium Sale (Vanoss Decorate) Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Show General Rules 1. Any violation of the rules will result in disqualification of the subject animal and/or exhibitor upon available committee consensus. All awards and/or monies will be forfeited. No legal action will be brought forth against the committee and the Pontotoc County Livestock Show. 2. Each junior exhibitor must be a bona fide member, in good standing, of an Oklahoma 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Also eligible to show are 3rd Grade students who are 8 years old, and are enrolled in the 3rd Grade by September 1st. Youth must reside in or attend school in Pontotoc County to be eligible to participate. By entering in the show, participants are verifying that they are in good academic standing at the time of the show and understand that if they are found to not be eligible as a result of the school contacting the show management; the management will support the local school district in any disciplinary actions taken. Likewise, home-schooled families must verify that they are meeting the mandates of the State regarding curriculum standards. If the exhibitor is found to be ineligible they agree that they will forfeit all prizes and premiums that they may have been paid by the show. 3. Every animal must be shown by the exhibitor owning the animal, except when an exhibitor may permit another eligible exhibitor to show an extra animal, or upon certification by the 4-H leader or FFA instructor that an exhibitor by reason of illness or injury, or participation in another school sponsored competitive activity is unable to show his or her animal, then the respective division superintendent should be informed of such cases. 4. No change in color (such as white to black). Oklahoma State University, U.S. Department of Agriculture, State and Local Governments cooperating. In compliance with Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Executive Order as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and other federal and state laws and regulations, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability, or status as a veteran in any of its policies, practices or procedures.

2 5. No exhibitor participating in the Junior Livestock Show may have more than one animal (steer, heifer, barrow, lamb, goat, or gilt ) in the Junior Livestock Show Premium Sale. If an exhibitor qualifies more than one animal either goat, barrow, gilt, steer, lamb or heifer or a combination of these, for the Premium Sale, such exhibitor shall be required to select which of their qualifying animals they will place in the Premium Sale. 6. All animals must be continuously owned by the exhibitor(s) on or before December nomination date. Can nominate by family or household name. These individuals must live at the same residence. 7. Each exhibitor must tie, stall & groom in the respective school designated area. (No exceptions unless otherwise approved by species superintendent.) 8. Exhibitor will be permitted to enter up to three (3) market lambs, (3) breeding ewes, (3) steers, (3) heifers (3) market goats, (4) does (See Doe Rules) (3) barrows and (3) gilts. Refer to each species section for complete nomination procedure. 9. The premium sale will consist of those qualifying steers, heifers, gilts, barrows, wether goats, does, market lambs and breeding ewes as described in each species section in this publication. 10. Animals which are owned jointly and fed on a partnership basis are not eligible to be exhibited in this show. 11. Any animal that has changed ownership after being entered and shown in an out of state show is not eligible to be exhibited (including premium sale). 12. All Animals must be owned prior to the December Nomination Date. 13. All animals must be reasonably clean/presentable, free of any excess mud, manure, etc upon arrival to the show grounds. 14. All animals must remain on premises after check-in with their respective superintendents. Exceptions will be made for emergency veterinary care, with superintendent s approval. Written statement from the attending DVM will be required to return to the show grounds All checks not deposited by the date set on the check will no longer be corrected. 16. All animals that are nominted incorrectly will be disqualified (ie. Hereford to Angus or Chester to Berk) 17. At the end of the goat show parents or exhibitors will have 10 minutes to decide which animal will go into the Premium Sale if they have multiple animals qualified. At the end of 10 minutes the list will be moved to the Extension Office and the Ag Teachers and Livestock Board will make the call. Show Ring Code of Ethics Any violation of the following rules will automatically result in disqualification. 1. The use of any drug or chemical compound that is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in meat animals is prohibited. The illegal administration of approved drugs and compounds is also prohibited. All animals entered in the show are subject to blood, urine and tissue tests by the show, FDA and USDA for illegal substances and substances that exceed the acceptable levels established by the United states Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Food Animal Residue Avoidance Databank and the Environmental Protection Agency. A positive test will result in disqualification. The exhibitor shall assume full responsibility for any violation and regulations related to drugs and medications to include withdrawal times and the condemnation of carcasses due to drug rule/regulation violations. This includes forfeiture of all premiums and market value of the animal. All premiums will be withheld until tests have been completed. 2. Any attempt to change natural color of an animal, either purebred or crossbred, by changing the color of hair, fleece or skin at any point, spot or area of the animal's body. Page 2

3 3. Misrepresenting the age of the animal for the class in which it is shown. 4. Treating or massaging any part of the body internally or externally with an irritant, counter-irritant, or other substance to straighten a weak back or loin or produce unnatural animation. 5. Minimizing the effect of crampiness by feeding or injection drugs, depressants or applying packs or using any artificial contrivance or therapeutic treatment except normal exercise. 6. Striking the animal to cause swelling in a depressed area. 7. Surgery of any kind performed to change the natural contour or appearance of the animal's body or hide. 8. Insertion of foreign material under the skin. 9. The use of alcoholic beverages in the feed or administered as a drench. 10. Criticizing or interfering with the judge, exhibitors, classifiers, breed committees, sifting committee, weigh committees and other show officials or other conduct detrimental to the breed of show. 11. Any artificial filling of any kind, water drench or air included with the exception of sheep & goat (see appropriate section). 12. All exhibitors must present, upon request of fair and livestock show officials, proof of ownership, length of ownership and age of all animals entered. Misrepresentation of ownership, age, or any facts relating thereto is prohibited. 13. Junior exhibitors are expected to care for and groom their animals while at fairs or livestock shows. 14. Show Ring Dress Code: All junior exhibitors will wear one of the following: 1. An official 4-H vest or jacket. Must be of the appropriate colors of solid green, solid white, or a mix of green and white. Must have an official emblem of at least 2½ inches. Must wear a collared shirt under the vest or jacket that is of the appropriate colors of solid green, solid white, or a mix of green and white. 2. An official FFA corduroy jacket from the National FFA supply catalog. Must wear a collared shirt under the jacket that is of the appropriate colors of solid white, sold blue, sold yellow, or a mix of blue and yellow. 3. A buttoned up, collared shirt, short or long sleeve, of the appropriate 4-H colors of solid green, solid white, or a mix of green and white; or FFA colors of solid white, solid blue, solid yellow, or a mix of blue and yellow. No third color mix, or additional colors are allowed. Must have an official 4-H or FFA emblem of at least 2½ inches. Third-Grade Student (not yet enrolled in 4-H): A solid white, buttoned up, collared shirt or polo shirt, short or long sleeve; and jeans. No 4-H emblem can be worn by exhibitors not enrolled in 4-H. No headgear is allowed. Sheep and Goat Fungus Check: All sheep and goats will have to be inspected prior to entry into the barns. Starting at 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday February 28th sheep and goats will enter through the North side of the small animal barn. Upon entering the small animal barn all sheep and goats will be inspected for fungus. Once the animal has passed the fungus inspection each animal will be weighed for official weigh in purposes. After the animal has been weighed, it can be placed into the barn. NO ANIMAL WILL BE PLACED INTO THE BARN UNTIL IT HAS PASSED INSPECTION AND IS WEIGHED. Only animals will be allowed in the small animal barn. No tack or equipment will be unloaded in this area. Animals should have all blankets and coverings removed and have hair or wool at show length before inspection. Any sheep or goat that has not been inspected and weighed by 7 p.m. will not be allowed in the barn or shown. If any animal is put in their stalls before the check, or exhibitor will not remove robes for the fungus check they will automatically be disqualified and removed from the facilities. Jr. Livestock Committee In the absence of a committee member, the Vo-Ag Instructor from that school may temporarily serve as the representative. 4 Beef Superintendent: Wendell Wynn the show. An official weigh-in will be held October 10, 2018 from 4-6p. The $15 nomination charge will be paid on December 14, All Steers must attend the October Weigh-In. At this time they will decide if they are going to show in the rate of gain or on-foot show. Premium Sale percentages will be based on the number of rate of gain and on foot steers that show up at Rate of Gain will be taken from the official weigh-in. All breeds and crossbreeds of steers will show together and be divided classes (based on number of steers returning to show) using the final weigh in weight. Steers should weigh between pounds at the official weigh-in. Steers weighing under 550 pounds will be adjusted to 550 for calculation of Rate of Gain. Steers must be owned by official weigh-in and at all times thereafter through showing. It is the intent of this provision to expressly prohibit changes of ownership after county fair weigh-in. All steers must be castrated and dehorned before October. No feed and water after 9 p.m. on the night before the final weight is collected. Steers from each weight class will be selected for the Premium Sale based on a combination score of Rate of Gain placing and On Foot placing. After the selection of the On Foot Champion and Reserve Champion the judge will select the Champion and Reserve Champion from the respective low point steer in each weight class. The remaining sale order spots for county steers will be established by the lowest combination point steers in the classes. Rate of gain will be used to break ties. Final show placing will be 30% on-foot, 30% rate-of-gain, 40% carcass merit in both of the weight classes. All steers exhibited may be entered for carcass evaluation. Steers must be shown to be eligible for the carcass contest. Any steer entered in carcass evaluation contest found to still be intact will be disqualified from any carcass monies. Steers will be bedded on shavings or sawdust. 10 Premium Sale spots are available for steers Heifers All heifers to be exhibited in the Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Show must be nominated as outlined by the Junior Livestock Board of Directors. There will be a $15.00 animal nomination charge. Tattoos and registration papers will be checked. Commercial heifers will be tattooed with JL19 in either ear on or before nomination date. Heifers will show by breeds. The 10 best heifers will make the premium sale regardless of breed. Judge will line up premium sale order. Any heifer making the premium sale is ineligible to show the next year. If there are not enough steers to fill all of the premium sale spots, remaining spots will be transferred to the heifers. All Breeder tags must be removed by Show Day. Oklahoma City age requirement guidelines will be followed for the County Jr. Livestock Show. 5 Cattle Fitting Contest Superintendent: TBD First and Second Place Teams will be qualified for OYE, and each team may have alternates for team members. All teams must consist of three exhibitors with eligible entries at the 2018 OYE Steer or Heifer Show. Each team must be comprised of the following: three members and each team must have at least one member under the age of 13 (13 years or younger on the day of the contest). If necessary, teams will compete in heats. Each heat is 30 minutes. A ten minute warning will be given. At the end of the 30 minutes, work must stop. All grooming rules of OYE will be strictly enforced. The animal must be provided by the team and owned by one of the team members. Each animal must be completely clean and dry. Judging is based on: Quality of workmanship, Team Skills compatibility and organization and compatibility of the use of various types of clippers. Neatness of individuals and area will be in consideration. Swine Superintendent(s): Brady Jennings Barrows Swine can only be dressed with water and skin conditioner no oil, paint, powder or dye. The top 22 barrows, without regard to class or breed will be selected by the judge for the premium sale. The judge will select sale prospects by breed upon completion of each breed show. Selection numbers from each breed will depend upon the number of entries in that breed. All barrows shown at the Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Show must be identified and tagged with an approved tag. There will be a $15.00 animal nomination charge. All swine must comply with regulations regarding pseudo rabies testing prior to the Jr. Livestock Show. All swine must have an official 840 tag. Barrows must weigh not less than 200 pounds or more than top weight for OKC (280 pounds). Barrows will be weighed in the ring on official scales at the judges discretion before they are placed, with the animals in the class not being able to exceed more than 10 pounds over the top of the class. Barrows will be divided into classes by weight within a breed at the discretion of the superintendent. Awards: Trophy/Plaque to Breed Champion, Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Gilts All gilts shown at the Pontotoc County Jr. Livestock Show must be identified and tagged with an approved tag. There will be a $15.00 animal nomination charge. Eligible age classification cross gilt will be shown by weight. Gilts will be weighed in the ring on official scales at the judges discretion before they are placed, with the animals in the class not being able to exceed more than 10 pounds over the top of the class. The 11 best gilts regardless of breed will make the premium sale. The judge will make these selections. Each breed will be shown in two (2) age divisions: Senior Gilts - Farrowed between July 1 st & August 31 st. Junior Gilts - Farrowed between September 1 st & October 31 st. 6 Sheep Superintendent: Rick Frazier All Ewes must show in the Breeding Ewe Division and all Wethers must show in the Market Wether Division. Once weights are posted, if there is a breed change the animal will be moved to the crossbred class as long as the tag number is correct. Market Wethers All lambs to be exhibited in the Jr. Livestock Show must be nominated and tagged with an approved tag. There will be a $15.00 animal nomination charge. Lambs will be exhibited by breeds, an official classification of breeds will be performed by Show Officials. Sheep will be divided into classes by weight within a breed at the discretion of the superintendent. Market Wethers must weigh a minimum of 70 pounds for wool sheep and 50 pounds for hair sheep. Lambs will be slick sheared. No paint, powder, or dye may be used in grooming lambs. The judge will select a minimum of 8 market lambs for the premium sale. If there are not enough Market Wethers to fill all of the Premium Sale Spots, the remaining Spots will go to the Breeding Ewes. Hydration of lambs must be performed in stall only. Awards: Trophy/Plaque to Breed Champion, Grand and Reserve Grand, Showmanship (Jr.(8-12), (Inter ), (Sr.16-18), Champion Carcass Breeding Ewes Breeding Ewes will show by breeds, and must not exhibit permanent yearling teeth. The top 7 Breeding Ewes qualify for premium sale regardless of breed. If there are not enough Breeding Ewes to fill all of the Premium Sale Spots, the remaining Spots will go to the Market Wethers. Awards: Trophy/Plaque to Grand and Reserve Grand Ewe Lamb Lead Contestant may be a 4-H or FFA member wearing a garment of at least 60% wool that can be self-made or purchased. The sheep does not have to be owned by the contestant or entered in the show and it must be trained to lead with a halter. Age Division: Jr. 8-13, Sr (Subject to change depending on number of entries.) 7 Goats Superintendent: Luther Green Exhibitors must comply with all general rules. Maximum (3) Market Wethers (4) Does in any combination not to exceed 3 in either Breeding or Wether Dam. Wethers will show with wethers. Does can be shown as either Breeding Does or Wether Dams. No doe can be exhibited in both shows. Determination of Breeding Doe or Wether Dam will be made by the exhibitor when goats are officially weighed. Wethers and Wether Dams must be sheared to a maximum of 3/8 residual hair length. Bracing will be allowed on Wethers and Wether Dams. Breeding Does hair length is left up to the discretion of the exhibitor. Bracing will not be allowed on breeding does. Definition of Bracing: Bracing of Breeding Does will not be tolerated and result in dismissal by the judge or superintendent. Breeding Does must have all four feet on the ground. Breeding Does must be shown with a collar/chain used only to control the animal. When the judge makes an attempt to feel of the doe, the exhibitor must only use one hand on the chain to control the doe. Exhibitors will receive a warning for first violation and be dismissed if violation occurs again. Goats will show by weight class. Show superintendent will determine weight classes and divisions. Minimum weight for all goats is 50 pounds. Maximum weight for all goats is 160 pounds. All goats must be nominated at date selected by livestock show committee. There will be a $15.00 animal nomination charge. Only approved tags will be accepted. Hydration of goats must be performed in stall only. A maximum of 29 Premium sale slots: 11 Wethers and 15 Breeding Does and 3 Wether Dams. If there are not enough Wether Dams to fill all Premium Sale Spots, the remaining Spots will go to Breeding Does Goat Showmanship: There will be a showmanship division for Wether goats and one for Breeding Does. Wether Dams may be used for the Wether goat showmanship only.
