Earth Song Ranch Horse Nutrition, Equine Pre-Biotics, Pro-Biotics & Digestive Enzymes; Nosodes, Homeopathics, Herbal Blends, Hoof & Joint Care Supplements, Herbal Wormer, Natural Fly Spray, Magnetic Products and Natural Equine Supplies July 2010 News Letter! "When one door of happiness closes, another opens; But often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us... Helen Keller News, Upcoming Events, Update: The biggest news the beginning of June was the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus. Every 14 years, these two heavenly heavyweights sit near each other in the zodiac for a while. The world changes, often quite dramatically, while their combined influence is strong. This time round, they're part of the 'cosmic cross' or 'T-square' in the sky that also involves Saturn and Pluto along with a Lunar Eclipse the end of June, on the 25 th / 26th. With all the changes occurring on the planet and in our individual lives, we hardly know what we dare believe any more. But this is all leading to something very positive in all our lives and from what the astrologers are saying can change our world in the most positive ways for the better of all of us, it just may not feel positive while we are going through it all, but the outcome will be!

News from the Ranch: The Earth Quakes keep on coming, some more in size then others but we have had over 3,000 aftershocks since the Easter 7.2 quake --- they all seem to be moving from south to north these days and heading towards Los Angeles, or points north, many of them in the desert around Ocotillo and Borrego Springs area as well as Fontana, Big Bear, La Jolla, Del Mar and points all around! Mama Kitty --- Bliss in her basket with her sheep skin after a hard day of hunting gophers Everyone is doing well on the ranch, Cheyanne is progressing, or should I say I am, and hope to be doing a video for our level 1 Parelli in the next couple months, when Margit returns from Pagosa after she spends a month there, she will be gone mid-august to mid-september. I have been doing some level 2 work with Cheyanne and she is also doing level 3 work with Margit but my skills are not quite up there yet! She has been ridden, just not by me, and not often as I hone my skills. So will do Level 1, hopefully followed by Level 2~ by my birthday! Having two horses I am working with that are so opposite Left Brained Extrovert and Right Brained Introvert is so interesting with all that they have to offer me in the way of honing my skills, because the approach to each is so different!

My beautiful Destinee Rose is doing awesome, he feet look more and more wonderful, her movements and her walking without boots on are that of a normal horse most days, and I am so so grateful and so thankful I have been able to be on this journey with her, and to help her to become whole and well again, she has taught me much, and she is so enjoying being a horse again! I am/have been writing some articles for some new horse publications, one out of Minnesota and one out of New Hampshire, also wrote one for the Horses Hoof, the bare foot magazine out of Arizona, so that has been fun this summer as well, and I have loved having the time to do the research and the writing! Exposure to new people is also good to get my products out there to help more horses! Be looking for a new one in Natural Horse in the next edition as well! This time off has been a blessing, and I have accomplished much with the free time I was blessed to have, and may have until the middle of July or a little later, each day is a blessing to be able to accomplish a lot of tasks I had to let go when I was working full time, most of all it is a blessing to have more time to spend with my horses, not in a rush! I am looking forward to getting back to a full time job in the very near future, as my former company is bidding on a lot of work, and there is a chance of getting back on a Caltrans job as well, which would be wonderful! I keep in contact with them, and they are intending to re-hire me as soon as a position comes up in my skill set! Earth Song Ranch continues to grow even in these economically challenging times, and I am so so grateful for the business I have had over the past couple months, as well as the new customers finding us on the world wide web --- people are looking for alternatives for their horses that are not only effective but do not cost as much as chemical drugs, with no side effects but also offer lots of benefits! My dream is to continue to grow my business so that I can just focus on that, not feel like I need to work another job just in case, and continue to help people with their animals for a long time in to the future! Tucker and Fred are doing well, they continue to entertain and delight me and anyone who comes to visit or do work at the ranch!

The kitty kid s love taking afternoon naps in their hammock everyday in the early part of the afternoon, they all crash out for their siesta! EPM and West Nile Nosodes and more.. This time of year I seem to get a lot of calls in regards to horses who have been recently diagnosed with EPM, this year has been no exception to that, and there seems to be even more calls, and a lot of worried owner s who would like to prevent their horses from getting West Nile and not have to vaccinate for that in particular as that vaccine seems to cause so many health issues and even death in some horses. Some people have told me that a couple of the West Nile vaccines have been pulled from the market because of the horrible side effects/affects up to and including the death of a number of horses within hours of the receiving the vaccine! Both of these diseases cause neurological problems in horses, sometimes it is hard for a vet to distinguish between the two without blood work, and recently I have had owner s contact me whose very ill horses are testing positive for both, so double whammy! So what can you do? First off keep your horses immune systems healthy, and that is by feeding pre/probiotics on a regular basis, Equine Zyme or Equine Zyme + are a good place to start. You can also feed Vitamin C along with Colostrum, especially during this time of year in the areas that are most affected by mosquito borne illnesses. The first confirmed case of West Nile in a horse this year is in Arizona. Other states that come to mind are states with a lot of water, and the east coast. Make sure that any small container, old tires, et al that may contain water be dumped out as they are breeding grounds for mosquitoes! I use a mosquito zapper on dusk to dawn timer which covers more than an acre and has an attractant that is warmed by the black light and I have found it very effective. EPM runs rampant particularly in areas of Oklahoma, Texas, and states nearby, also in Colorado. It can happen anywhere, but there seems to be a concentration especially in those two states in my experience. The horse is the end host to this protozal infection. It is carried in the feces of possums, raccoons, and possibly other small animals such as skunks. Keep your hay areas covered and if necessary humanely trap and relocate those animals. Dr Wessner does have a homeopathic protocol that I used on Destinee to cure EPM and I do sell it on my web site, he also has a protocol for a horse down with West Nile that is very effective, and even if the horse is down, it has a good chance of recovery if the owner follows the homeopathic protocol in about four days, I keep this in my medicine chest just in case.

Prevention is the key; I give my horses the West Nile and the EPM Nosodes which are a homeopathic immunization as opposed to a vaccine. The use of a Nosode however does not provide a measurable titer to assess antibodies, so if you are doing titers it will not show up. A Nosode puts a dose of a very very dilute substance into the body that will trigger a healing response or build a natural immunity to that disease. If an animal comes in to contact with that disease then if the Nosodes have been given that disease has no place to settle or to trigger an immune response and not much will happen. What we try to do with a Nosode is tell the horses body energetically that it is capable of dealing with the exposure and will be able to defend against it. There are different schools of thought in giving not only Nosodes but Homeopathics as well, some will liquefy them, some with only give pellets on the gums and some will put in to a slice of apple with some horses, and I think all are correct, it is also the energy and the intent of the person giving the dose to their horses, cats or dogs, as to how well they work as our energy is also important in healing our animals and in the prevention of disease as well. There are also different schools of thought on when to give Nosodes as well some only give at the time of an outbreak, and some give on a protocol of once per month. I am not a vet, however, I do the once per month for EPM. Pigeon Fever and West Nile, and the others including Strangles, Flu Rhino Combo et al, I gave for once per month for two years and now only give during an outbreak. We need to spend our time getting our horses healthy and concentrate on immune health, then support them with the use of Nosodes especially if there is a risk in your area for let s say West Nile or EPM. If I had to pick right now between the Nosodes to give my horses it would be the West Nile and the EPM during this time of year which they do get! And in late fall to early spring I would give Strangles and the Flu Rhino especially to horses who will be barned. I also have an herbal blend EPM-Zyme which many of my clients have used to not only prevent horses from coming down with EPM but have used along with the homeopathic protocol to help cure their horses. It is a blend of potent anti-parasitic and anti-protozal herbs blended with Equine-Zyme. When buying herbal or medicinal herbal blends I truly believe it is the synergy of the combination of the herbs and the intention of the blender that is a component of the action of the blend that makes it more potent and work so effectively! Vaccines have their places, but the over vaccination of horses has become all too common and the sensitive horses are suffering health wise because of this and chemical wormers given too often when there is no need! Get blood titers

on your horses if you can afford them and see where their levels are for all the vaccines they have been given over their lifetimes, they may never need to be vaccinated again depending on their histories! Nosodes also have their place in keep horses healthy and disease free by stimulating the response to a particular disease and building immunity to it! Court Finds For ANH-USA In Stunning Victory Over FDA (Thank You Jonathan Emord!) June 1, 2010 supplements. This was a key federal case argued for ANH-USA and other plaintiffs by Jonathan Emord and the Emord law firm. It was a remarkable seventh victory for Emord over the FDA in the area of allowable health claims for food or supplements. Unless reversed on appeal, the decision restricts the Agency s ability to place gag orders on the emerging science behind healthy foods and dietary The case revolved around what are called qualified health claims. In a qualified health claim, the producer of a food or supplement tries to share the state of the science behind the product with the public. If the science is less than completely conclusive, usually the case with food or food related items, the claim is qualified. The FDA has never liked qualified health claims. It wants food and supplements to be treated like drugs and forced to submit to the full FDA approval process in order to make any health claims. Of course this is crazy. Food and supplements, being natural, cannot usually be patented, and nobody can afford

to spend a billion dollars to gain FDA approval of claims on an unpatented product that anyone else can sell. The FDA knows this full well. The real reason it does not want any health claims for food or supplements is probably that it fears that this will create competition for approved drugs and drugs pay the Agency s bills. This is a scandal that badly needs to be addressed. The Environmental Protection Agency does not, so far as we can see, represent the interests of coal mining companies. So why should the FDA represent the drug companies rather than the public? Probably because the monopoly created for drug companies by the FDA has given the drug companies vast sums to spend to gain influence. Coal companies are poor by comparison. The judge in this case, Ellen Huvelle of the United States District Court of the District of Columbia, rendered a summary judgment. That means she felt the case was clear from the start. The FDA was violating freedom of speech by saying that no cancer related health claims about the mineral selenium could be made unless the science was completely conclusive or unless ridiculous and misleading disclaimers were added to the message. Although this case was focused on selenium, it has much bigger ramifications. The judge was in effect saying that food and dietary supplement producers have a right under the free speech doctrine to talk about the science behind the product so long as they accurately represent that science. The FDA is currently flush with cash from new appropriations. It may appeal. Even if it does not appeal, it may fall back into a passive aggressive stance of quibbling over every word of every qualified claim. But at some point, the accumulation of court decisions against the Agency should finally result in some real change. Although the struggle is far from over, this court victory is an important milestone along the way to an eventual victory for free speech, uncensored science, and common sense. This is such great news for all of us who know that herbs and combinations of herbs used for centuries which have science behind them do work and have health benefits that we should in fact be able to talk about and tell people about as an alternative to high priced drugs with many side effects! Equine Herbal Wormer Special for July coupled with Equine Zyme! Back by popular request Herbal Wormer is 15% off this month to keep all those pesky parasites at bay and to keep your horses gut healthy and happy 10% off on Equine Zyme! Use Coupon Code HW15. Over the years I have found it to be true with my horses as well as many horses around the country, that if you feed Equine Zyme consistently and use

the Herbal Wormer monthly during the late spring and in to early a fall then do your fecal counts they should be pretty good if you keep your pastures clean, and do good housekeeping measures! Please everyone, before you just chemically worm, do fecal counts see where they are and if you really need to, it is for the health of your horse, for his intestinal health as well as his hoof health --- too many chemicals in wormers and vaccines are doing damage to our equine friends! Go to Natural Horse Talk if you want to read about fecal counts Lisa has an article on her web site! Too many chemical wormers when not really needed make the parasites resistant to the chemicals, then where will we all be when we need them, it is kind of like the MARSA and we just do not want to go there. Keep your horses immune systems healthy and boosted, and use probiotics on a regular basis, kind of like some of us use Activia, or yogurts with active cultures on a regular basis for ourselves! Make sure your horses get some greens this summer, be it dandelion from the health food store or other veges and fruits that they would enjoy like water melon, apples, or seasonal fruits, not much just some! Clorox vs. Peroxide Clorox vs. Peroxide VERY interesting and inexpensive. This was written by Becky Ransey of Indiana (a doctor's Wife), and I want to share it with you, I received it from a customer and new distributor in Pennsylvania Nikki Cowden.

As the story goes, when someone by the name of Becky Ransey was over at a friend s house for coffee and smelled the bleach the friend was using to clean her toilet and counter tops this is what she told her friend: 'I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. What does bleach cost? Most doctors don't tell you about peroxide. Have you ever smelled bleach in a doctor's office? NO!!! Why? Because it smells, and it is not healthy! Ask the nurses who work in the doctor's offices, and ask them if they use bleach at home. They are wiser and know better! Did you also know bleach was invented in the late 40's? It's chlorine, folks! And it was used to kill our Troops. Peroxide was invented during WWI in the 20's. It was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops and hospitals. Please think about this: 1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe.) No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. 2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs. 3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters. 4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria. 5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry. 6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide. 7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and Water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants. 8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the

bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue. 9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly. 10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually, so it's not a drastic change. 11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help get rid of boils, fungus, or other skin infections. 12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary. 13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this. 14. Another place it's great is in the bathroom, if someone has been careless & has wet on the floor around the toilet & it's begun to smell of urine. Just put some peroxide in a spray bottle & spray. In the blink of any eye all the smell will be gone & the bacteria eliminated! I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner! ' This information really woke me up; I had forgotten how many things we could do with hydrogen peroxide. I hope you gain something from it, too, I keep a bottle in the tack room & in the kitchen as well. If you are 30, or older, you might think this is hilarious! When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning... Uphill... Barefoot... BOTH ways yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no !! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox, and it would take like a week to get there! Stamps were 10 cents! Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick our ass! Nowhere was safe! There were no MP3's or Napsters or itunes! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio, and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car.. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished, and then the tape would come undone rendering it useless. Cause, hey, that's how we rolled, Baby! Dig? We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal, that's it! There weren't any freakin' cell phones either. If you left the house, you just didn't make a damn call or receive one. You actually had to be out of touch with your "friends". OH MY GOD!!! Think of the horror... not being in touch with someone 24/7!!! And then there's TEXTING. Yeah, right. Please! You kids have no idea how annoying you are. And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your parents, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, the collection agent... you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy PlayStation or Xbox video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your screen guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... Forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!!! NO REMOTES!!! Oh, no, what's the world coming to?!?! There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-finks! And we didn't have microwaves. If we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove! Imagine that! And our parents told us to stay outside and play... all day long. Oh, no, no electronics to soothe and comfort. And if you came back inside... you were doing chores! And car seats - oh, please! Mom threw you in the back seat and you hung on. If you were luckily, you got the "safety arm" across the chest at the last moment if she had to stop suddenly, and if your head hit the dashboard, well that was your fault for calling "shot gun" in the first place! See! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled rotten! You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980 or any time before! Regards, The Over 30 Crowd (shared by my son Brent Thornton, he is over 30!!! Tee hee!) More News!!!! Purina has a new dog chow they have finally listened --- I could not believe it myself, but when I went to the feed store the owner was so excited to tell me that Purina has come out with a high end kibble with no grains in it, fresh not

frozen meat and it looks good, smells really good and Tucker loves it. There are bison, turkey and salmon formulas and Tucker is very picky and that was a testimonial in my opinion! So not having been a fan of Purina for a long while, maybe they are finally getting the message! I found a new all natural hoof conditioner, it is called Hoof Alive, it has Wheat Germ, Avocado and other natural oils, it is awesome stuff and they have a small size for us for our fingernails, it has been the best stuff I have found in a long while to put on my nails especially after a shower, they are longer and stronger than ever and I just picked up the pint size for a refill for my small jar and to use on Destinee s feet! In the summer months here our horses have the hardest feet, and this will really help everyone including my trimmer who goes through nippers this time of year with everyone s horse s feet being so so hard! Tri-Animals Fly Spray after much consideration I am no longer carrying the 1 gallon fly spray refill --- you can all get that directly from Diana at Tri- Animals in Montana, and she usually ships the same day, same price as I was charging. I am only carrying the 4 oz size to carry in your back pack on a hike, the 8 oz size perfect for puppy pals, and the 22 oz size for your horses! It is awesome stuff! I use it all the time for my horses and the dogs as it keeps the flies off of my senior dogs, and I especially put it on the tips of their ears. Happy Horse Meadow Mix will be in stock just after the 4 th of July! I know several of you have inquired about the blend in the past week, and we ran out of stock, the order is in so it should be here about the time this news letter is sent out. It is a great blend you feed by the hand full and the horses love it, and it also has some nice herbs that not only taste good to them but support various body functions as well! Mint Tea - With every order this month I am including a package of Mint Tea, which is a blend of Organic Spearmint and Peppermint leaves, it is great to have on hand for any gassy colic or tummy upset you can make up the tea in a quart jar let it steep and then just pour and mix in a hot bran mash or in bucket feed, it not only adds flavor but can sooth an acidic or upset stomach, and the horses can smell it, so if your horses love mint the way mine due it is a taste and sensory treat they will enjoy even if they are under the weather! Rose Hip Tea Rose hips are loaded with Vitamin C and other micro nutrients including naturally occurring biotin, I am currently in testing mode for a tea that will be good for the horses, that they will love poured over their bucket feed and will be good for them, so be looking for that as well! You will make it by the quart and pour it all, with rose hips and all over their favorite feed stuffs!

Chamomile Flower Tea As everyone knows Chamomile is a calming and soothing tea, and we do offer that tea for horses as well, from organically grown flowers! Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well. Vincent Van Gogh Have a wonderful month everyone filled with endless love and remember to keep living your dreams! Happy Trails Everyone! Jessica, Ms. Echo, Destinee Rose, and Cheyanne Rose!
