Ea Calf This baby animal is a calf. The mother is called a cow and the father is a bull. Like humans, a cow is pregnant for 9 months. Did you know that when a calf is born, they can stand up within an hour?

Ea To produce milk, cows need to give birth first. In the beginning, the calf will drink milk from its mother. After 8-9 weeks they start eating grass and feed. A good cow can give over 25 gallons of milk each day. That is 400 glasses of milk!

Piglet Ea This baby animal is a piglet. The mother is called a sow and the father is a boar or hog. Did you know that pigs are extremely social animals? They form bonds and love being close together.

Ea Pigs have the same diet as humans. They eat both meat and plants. Pigs have an excellent sense of smell, and use their snout to find food. Even though they enjoy mud, pigs are very clean. They keep their toilet far away from where they lie down and eat.

Ea Foal This baby animal is a foal. The mother is called a mare and the father is a stallion. A foal can run shortly after birth. Did you know that horses can sleep both lying down and standing up?

Ea Horses are plant eaters, so they like grass, plants, hay, and straw. They will be very happy if you give them an apple or a carrot! Horses were important for humans in the past, for transportation and to work on farms. Some horses still work, many are involved in sports.

Credits These images are licensed under Creative Commons. Each image is linked to. Thank you to the talented people that share their photos. Drake, Drake & Hen Duckling 1, Chicks Ea Donkey This baby animal is a donkey. A female donkey is called a jenny and a male donkey is called a jack. A male donkey can have a baby with a horse, and that baby is a mule. Mules are larger than donkeys.

Donkeys are also known to be stubborn, especially if they are scared. They eat grass, plants, hay and straw. Credits These images are licensed under Creative Commons. Each image is linked to. Thank you to the talented people that share their photos. Drake, Drake & Hen Duckling 1, Chicks Donkeys are strong. Ea They are work animals in many countries. Donkeys can carry heavy loads of food, water and goods. They also work on farms, plowing fields.

Ea Kid This baby animal is a kid. A female goat is called a nanny and a male goat is called a billy. Goats are known to eat anything, but the truth is they are picky. They only want clean and tasty food.

Ea Goats prefer shrubs, woody plants, weeds, and briars. The kids drink milk from their mothers until they are old enough to eat plants. Did you know you can teach a goat its name, and it will come when you call it? Goats are also excellent climbers, and can even climb trees!

Lamb This baby animal is a lamb. The mother is called an ewe and the father is a ram. Lambs like to run around and play on the field. They like to be together with other sheep in herds. Ea

Lambs and sheep eat grass and other plants. From their wool we make clothes, blankets and more. Ea Some people think that sheep are a bit stupid, but they are actually very smart. They can even recognize human faces!

Chick Ea This baby animal is a chick. The mother is called a hen and the father is called a rooster. Chicks live on farms. When grown, they have combs on their heads and two wattles under the neck. Can you tell from the photo that the rooster s comb is larger than the hens?

Ea Chicks eat a lot of different things; insects, snails and slugs, worms, seeds, grains, fruits and vegetables. In their stomach, there are tiny stones that help grind food. A hen can lay over 300 eggs a year! Some even lay one each day.

This baby animal is a duckling. The mother is called a hen, and the father is a drake. Ducks live all over the world, except Antarctica where it s too cold. In the winter they can fly thousands of miles to warmer places, where they breed. Ea Duckling

Ea Ducks love to swim, and they can see well underwater. They have webbed feet that help them swim. They can t feel any cold through their feet, so they can swim in icy waters, too. Ducks eat water plants, insects, small fish, seeds, nuts and fruits.

Kitten Ea This baby animal is a kitten. The mother is called a molly, and the father is called a tom. Cats live all over the world, and they are one of the most popular pets. Did you know cats can sleep as much as 13 to 14 hours a day?

Ea Cats have night vision. They can also hear and smell really well. This makes them great hunters! Cats are meat eaters. They can hunt for rodents and small birds, and they also like to eat fish. Cats that are pets mostly eat cat food.

Puppy Ea This baby animal is a puppy. The parents are both called dogs. Dogs are also popular pets, and form strong bonds with their owners. This is why they are called man s best friend.

Ea Dogs have great hearing, much better than humans. You can train a dog to do different tricks, and to be obedient. They can even enter competitions to show their skills. Dogs like to eat a lot of different things, including meat, vegetables and grains.

Rabbit Ea This baby animal is a rabbit, and they are actually called kits or kittens! The mother is called a doe, and the father is a buck. Rabbits prefer to live in groups. Did you know more than half of the world s rabbits live in North America?

Ea Rabbits are also popular pets. Did you know that rabbits are born with their eyes closed and without fur? Rabbits like to eat different plants. If you pick a dandelion and give it to a rabbit it will be very happy!
