NORWEGIAN FOREST CAT CLUB SHOW 18.2.2017 REPORT FROM ALISON LYALL. Many thanks to Brian and Di for inviting me to judge at this super show featuring the cream of Norwegian Forest cats who were a pleasure to judge. The late Anne Gregory was in all our thoughts but Brian and Di made sure that the show ran as smoothly as ever and I m sure that Anne would have been delighted at such a successful day. My steward was Emma Watts and we had a great day together thank you Ems, your help was much appreciated as always. AC TABBY & WHITE CHAMPION. GCC.WHITTLE S CH NORSPIRIT ELLEN MACARTHUR NFO n 09 22 F 14.8.14.I would have been happy to award both of these cats the certificate but I thought that on the day Ellen MacArthur s maturity gave her the edge. She was a very classy, relaxed and outgoing brown tabby and white female with inevitably a little more substance and a super open expression. Her skull formed a strong equilateral triangle with an excellent long refined straight profile, level bite and a firm chin. The ears were large and tufted at the tips to accentuate the pointed impression and were decorated with long curling furnishings and set to extend the head lines. Her beautiful eyes were well opened, almond shaped and set obliquely. Her body was long, elegant and muscular and balanced by a very long bushy tail. Long legs were strongly boned and paws large and well tufted. She had a fully double coat with a lovely gleam to the harsh top coat and a generous shirtfront and knickerbockers and was immaculately prepared for the show. RES GCC.GRANT S CH NOYNAROCK MABEL NFO f 01 21 62 F 15.7.15.A very glamorous tortie tabby and white female, not yet two but a real stunner with a temperament to match her looks. She was up on her hind legs, kissing, purring and nuzzling us and we would happily have spent all day with her. Her head was a defined equilateral triangle, extended laterally by the large ears with super pointed tufts and well furnished. Exquisite orange eyes were well opened, set obliquely and beautifully shaped and her profile was long and straight with good lateral definition and uniform width. Level bite and strong chin. She was strongly boned and with good heft to the long lithe body and the tail was long and bushy. Her coat was double with a deep woolly undercoat, a firm waterproof top and a full shirtfront and lavish knickerbockers, all beautifully presented. What a treasure, she can come home with me any time! AOC PREMIER MALE. GPC.GASKELL S PR NORMAGIKATT MATHIS NFO a 09 MN 17.8.15. Again, it was a very difficult decision between these two lovely blue and white neuters with only a month s difference in age so I really had to split those hairs! For me, this lad has the ideal Norwegian Forest expression and he is really relaxed and knows how to show himself to best advantage. Large ears which are tufted and furnished and wide at the base are set to extend the triangular head shape and the beautiful large green eyes are well opened, obliquely set and lovingly expressive. The profile is long and straight, bite is level and chin strong. The body is very long and hefty but muscular and elegant and he has an immense length of bushy tail, more than enough to wrap all around himself. His coat is fully double with a very nice firm top texture, particularly for a blue, and a deep woolly undercoat, shirt front and knickerbockers. Excellent show presentation and immaculate whites.

RES GPC.JAMES PR FORESTFRIEND VULCAN NFO a 90 MN 13.7.15.A super big strong lad of immense weight and substance, just not looking quite as elegant as his competitor. His head is triangular in shape, emphasised by the large ears which are set well, tufted and furnished and extend the triangle. The gold eyes are well opened with a slight oblique set and rather a level top profile and the nose is long and straight. The bite is level and the chin firm. Very long weighty body that doesn t need to be any heavier at this age, huge strong bone to the long legs with enormous tufted paws and a very long bushy tail. He had an enormous full coat which was beautifully presented with a very thick woolly undercoat and a firm top texture, a profuse shirtfront and very generous knickerbockers. A most amiable and gentle lad who was lovely to handle. AOC PREMIER FEMALE. GPC.HIGAB S PR NOYNAROCK JOLENGEL NFO e FN 28.9.14.A gentle and well grown cream female who was most beautifully presented. Her head was a narrow triangule in shape and quite long with a long straight profile, level bite and slightly sloping chin. The ears were large, tufted and furnished and set to extend the lateral headlines and the eyes were well opened and obliquely and slightly deep set. Her long muscular torso was very elegant, standing tall on long strong limbs and her tail was bushy and of length to balance the body. The coat was full with a lovely firm texture to the top coat and the undercoat was thick and woolly with a full shirtfront and generous knickerbockers. She was slightly anxious but very sweet natured. AOC JUNIOR ADULT MALE. CC.CANDLER S HARRY OF DANDY BLUE NFO as M 2.5.16. A very well grown young blue smoke lad with excellent length to the solid body, heavily boned long limbs with large tufted paws and a balanced length of bushy tail. The skull is triangular with medium to large ears set to extend the head lines and tufted and furnished. The eyes were almond shaped and with an oblique aperture though a little deeply set and not very well opened he was rather sleepy I think! The broad long nose had a straight profile, the bite was level and the chin slightly shallow and sloping. He had an enormous coat which was rather shaggy and I imagine quite difficult to groom effectively with a deep woolly undercoat and some firmer textured top coat emerging along the lower spine. Full shirtfront and knickerbockers. A promising young boy. AOC JUNIOR ADULT FEMALE. CC & BOB. GRANT S NOYNAROCK WINNIE NFO fs 03 F 29.2.16.This young tortie smoke and white female was a real glamour puss with a lovely expression. She had a beautiful generous triangular skull and the ears were large, although rather buried in fur at the base but tufted and furnished and still held quite erectly in a kittenish fashion. The oval eyes were set obliquely and well opened and the profile was long and straight, bite level and she had an excellent depth to the strong chin. Her body was long and hefty with strongly boned limbs, tufted paws and her tail was of balanced length and extravagantly furnished. She had a very full coat with the firmer top developing well, a profuse shirtfront and full knickerbockers. She was a delightful confident young cat. 2 ND.CANDLER S KATTJEWELS PHOEBE NFO g F 24.4.16.A very feminine young blue tortie girl. At the moment her skull is quite a long and narrow triangular

shape, an impression emphasised by her large rather erect ears which have yet to settle. Her eyes were beautiful, ideally shaped, well opened and obliquely set and her profile is long, straight and really refined with excellent lateral definition and a pretty blaze of cream. Level bite, firm chin. Good length to the body, strongly boned limbs and bushy tail just a little short for balance. Profuse developing coat which is mainly soft but showing some firmer top coat emerging on the lower spine and full shirtfront and knickerbockers. She was sweet and a little shy but handled well. Considered for BOB were: EMERY S CH.NOYNAROCK MOONSHADOW NFO ns F 19.4.15.A full coated and very elegant black smoke female with a head triangle that was just about equilateral and the desirable ability to show herself to perfection on the table with her well boned legs being longer at the rear, giving her that typical NFC stance. The profile is almost straight, bite level and chin slightly shallow. Lovely well opened eyes for shape and set. Muscular body, bushy tail just to balance and well presented coat with shirt front and knickerbockers and some harsher top coat in evidence over the woolly undercoat. BROWN S GC MYSCHYFKITZ EDELWEISS NFO w 62 F 31.7.15.An elegant and feminine young white female with lovely contrast between the harsh top coat and the woolly undercoat. Her large ears are well set to extend her defined equilateral triangular head shape and are tufted and furnished. The eyes are well opened and obliquely set and the profile straight, bite level and chin slightly shallow. Well boned and with a long elegant body with the tail fractionally short for perfect balance. Beautiful pristine white coat. AOC SENIOR ADULT MALE. Considered for BOB was: GRANT S GC NOYNAROCK ZAC NFO as M 6.4.14. Although in my book as a blue smoke, I think he is a slightly unsound blue, not that it matters in this breed. He was very strongly grown and definitely on the hefty side but fortunately had very well boned thick limbs and large tufted paws to support him. His bushy tail was a little short for perfect balance. He had a very broad triangular skull extended by large ears and his eyes were well opened with a slight oblique set and quite a level top profile. His very broad nose had a slight curve in profile and he had a good deep chin and level bite. His full coat had a firm top texture and deep wool with the requisite shirtfront and knickerbockers. He was trying to make himself as small as possible, quite a job! AC TABBY (14 WKS 6 MTHS) KITTEN. 1 ST & BOB.HANDY S MAVERICK de LAILOKEN (IMP) NFO ds 22 M 27.9.16.A pocket kitten if ever there was one, an adorable red silver classic tabby, just a baby but so alert and affectionate. A generous equilateral triangle formed his head with a long, ruler straight refined profile and an excellent depth of strong chin with a level bite. He had very large ears to grow into which were tufted and furnished, wide at the base and well set and his oval eyes were well opened with an oblique aperture. His long legs were thickly boned with large tufted paws, the body was long and with good heft for his age and his bushy tail balanced the body. He had a very full kitten coat, well presented and was a very promising boy of excellent type. 2 ND.SPENCE S LANDSKER CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE NFO n 23 M 19.8.16.A strongly grown brown mackerel tabby lad with a beautiful coat pattern. He was very much at an in between stage of development and his shaggy coat was quite short, the

lack of ruff leaving his long triangular head looking a little exposed. He had enormous ears which were tufted and furnished and rather dominated his head and a long straight very broad nose and firm chin. He was teething and his bite was very slightly overshot. His eyes were perfect for shape and set and well opened with a gentle expression indicative of his lovely temperament. His long legs were heavily boned, the body was very long and the tail of balanced length. Another very promising kitten. MISCELLANOUS CLASSES. AC NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT. 1 ST.EMERY S KATTJEWELS MONICA NFO g 22 F 24.4.16.For only ten months old, this beautiful blue tortie classic tabby girl is stunning. So elegant and feminine yet really substantial and with a profuse quality coat with a very well developed top and deep woolly undercoat. The long straight profile is very well defined and the eyes perfect for shape and set. A real eye catcher. 2 ND.EMERY S IGC NOYNAROCK JASPER SKOGVENNS NFO n 22 M 1.8.12.An adorable mature brown tabby of lovely type who is strong and masculine with a benevolent temperament and a loving expression. Broad triangular skull, fully double coat and tail looking a little sparse today. 3 RD. GRANT S NOYNAROCK WINNIE NFO fs 03 F 29.2.16. AC NORWEGIAN FOREST ADULT NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR. 1 ST.MILLWARD S NOYNAROCK ETHEREAL ASA NFO gs 09 22 F 6.7.13.Strong mature black smoke female with a generous triangular head, large tufted and furnished ears extending the lateral lines of the skull and arresting luminous green eyes, well opened and set obliquely. Full coat. 2 ND.HERMON S KATTJEWELS LADY STARDUST NFO a 23 F 4.1.16.A promising young female of just over a year showing lovely body conformation with a long elegant torso and hefty substance and bone. The coat is still short and quite soft although showing some shirtfront and a long bushy tail. 3 RD.EMERY S GC NOYNAROCK JOSHUA SKOGVENNS NFO n 22 M 1.8.12. AC NOVICE ADULT. 1 ST.McCLELLAND S NOYNAROCK REISA NFO f 09 22 F 15.3.16.A very pretty tortie tabby and white, just coming into call. Balanced triangular head with all sides equal and well opened oval eyes with an oblique aperture. Well presented coat with shirtfront and a promising firm texture to the guard hairs. 2 ND.GRANT S NOYNAROCK WINSTON NFO n 09 22 M 15.3.16.Big strong brown tabby and white boy, brother to the above and with a very friendly attitude. His head was a broad triangular shape, the breadth exaggerated by his ears which are a little low set and bonneted, profile was straight and the eyes were well opened but slightly deep set giving him a heavy browed appearance. Very well grown and of excellent substance. AC NON-SELF KITTEN. 1 ST.ROSE S LANDSKER CALYPSO RAINBOW NFO fs 0923 F 19.8.16.Most attractive young tortie tabby lass with beautiful well opened luminous eyes. Large ears have pointed tufts, profile is straight and chin strong. 2 ND.JAMES FORESTFRIEND FREDDIEFUDGE NFO a 09 23.A large anxious lad who was very well grown. Promising coat.

AC NORWEGIAN FOREST BREEDER S KITTEN. 1 ST.HERMON S CLEASANTA ABIGAIL NFO f 09 F 25.5.16.A most attractive tortie and white female with a big shaggy coat with a shirtfront and developing top coat. The head is an equilateral triangle in shape, the beautiful oval eyes are well opened and obliquely set, the profile is straight and the chin tapers a little. Good bone and substance and profusely bushy tail. She was most poised and self assured and later became BIS Kitten. AC NORWEGIAN FOREST NEUTER NOT BRED BY EXHIBITOR. 1 ST.GARFOOT S SNOWROCK LORD MILOS NFO n 03 23 MN 11.4.16.Handsome brown mackerel tabby and white with a good strong broad triangular skull and the loveliest expression in his obliquely set well opened eyes. He is going to be a very big chap, already having massive bone, huge paws and an impressive heft to his long torso. His coat was well developed with a firm top texture and generous shirtfront. 2 ND.GASKELL S FORESTSHADOW SKYE NFO ns 09 23 FN 31.3.16. Very promising and attractive young silver tabby and white girl, nice balanced head triangle, straight profile and well opened oval eyes. Good bone, substance and elegance. 3 RD.THOMAS & BARTLEY S NOYNAROCK ESME NFO n 09 22 FN 6.5.16. AC SENIOR NEUTER. 1 ST.WHITTLE S IGP NORSPIRIT JOSEPH WRIGHT NFO n 09 22 MN 14.8.14.I have watched this lad growing into maturity and reported on him many times he has excellent NFC type with strength and elegance, a wonderful temperament and knows how to show himself. 2 ND.BREEWOOD S CH & IGP NOYNAROCK HARALD NFO ns 09 22 MN 4.7.11.A truly magnificent cat but by the time we got to him, he was not amenable to being handled. 3 RD.EMERY S GP NOYNAROCK GANDOR NFO es 22 MN 8.3.11. AC ARISTOCRAT NEUTER. 1 ST.GASKELL S NORMAGIKATT PRINCESS LEIA NFO fs 09 22 FN 29.2.16.Lovely young tortie female of good substance, beautiful eyes for shape and set and an impressive quantity of developing coat.
