Various steps were done by The GOVS to be in accordance with the international recommendation (OIE and EU regulations) as follow: Reviewing and up-dating legislation dealing with the health of equidae, and issuing the ministerial decree No. 2303 for the year 2011 and its associated list of requirements and regulations that organized the responsibility of the competent authority, importation, exportation, certification, registration, infectious disease controls, vaccination, notification, movement controls, quarantine, surveillance and regionalization (as a temporary situation).
Reviewing and up-dating legislation dealing with the health of Equidae (Achieved) Regionalization to identify the suspicious zone for AHS (Achieved) Determination of the exporting equidea (particularly horses) - quarantine station (Achieved). Establishing epidemiological unit for equidae disease in GOVS (Achieved)..
Strengthen laboratory for infectious diseases diagnosis in AHRI (Achieved (special unit for equidae disease)). Establishing epidemiological data-info network system connects the epidemiological units in different governorates with the control unit in GOVS (Achieved). Training plan to increase the awareness of field veterinarian with different infectious disease of equidae (Achieved and annually by the training affairs unit in GOVS). Contingency plan for controlling epidemics and epizootics in Equidea in Egypt (Achieved).

Quarantine measures - General Organization of veterinary service approve some quarantines (King Rash in Borg El- Arab - Alexandria ) as authorized quarantine which has the following criteria : 1- Complete isolated from any domestic animals especially domestic equidae. 2- Has insect control programme to prevent any attack of insects. Special yard for animal training. 3- Sources of (water, electricity), well ventilated sections for animal quarantine and medical supply. 4- Animals will quarantine under complete supervision of veterinarian in quarantine department. 5-Quarantine period 40 days 6-Blood samples will be collected and sent to reference lab in Emirates to be tested against (AHS, EIA, Dourine, and Glander disease) 7- Upon the result of the Ref. lab. we issue the veterinary health certificate for exportation accompanied by animal identification passport. 8- Animal will transported directly from quarantine to airport (Borg El-Arab airport) and avoid any contact with any animals during transportation.
