This show will be open to the following counties only: Bartow, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Floyd, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Towns, Union, Walker, and Whitfield. Check-in will be between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2nd, with the show beginning at 11:00 a.m. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY We will accept the first 90 entries only! Any entries received past 90 or after deadline will be returned to you by mail. NO EXCEPTIONS! Be sure to let your exhibitors know that due to limited barn space, some heifers will have to tie to trailers. All blocking chutes must be left outside the pavilion. The deadline of October 25 th will be here before you know it, so return your entry form quickly. If there are any questions, feel free to contact our office at the above header information. AgGeorgia Farm Credit Junior Heifer Show Rules and Regulations Northwest Georgia Livestock Pavilion Calhoun, Georgia Saturday, November 2, 2013 Check-In 8:00 Until 9:00 a.m. Show Begins at 11:00 a.m. Exhibitors in this show must be a member of 4-H or FFA at time of entry. Any exhibitor who has completed one quarter in college or is out of high school six months is not eligible to compete. Exhibitors must be within the designated area served by the sponsor. The following counties are eligible to participate: Bartow, Carroll, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Floyd, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Towns, Union, Walker, and Whitfield Heifers must be the sole property of the exhibitor and recorded in their name with their respective breed association with the exception of certain breed regulations where the heifer must be of a certain age before registering. In this case, applications must be made with that respective association. Ownership must be established no later than October 1, 2013. Original registration certificates must be presented at check-in. All entries, including commercial, must be identified by a legible tattoo. All commercial heifers will be shown by weight. All heifers presented for exhibition purposes must be accompanied by a veterinarian s certificate stating that the heifer is from herds not under quarantine and are apparently free of all infections, contagious, or communicable diseases. The certificate MUST be presented at check-in to the health inspector, please have available at that time. Heifers must be checked-in/weighed between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. on November 2nd and will be released after the show. The barn will be open on the previous Friday, November 1st to receive animals for your convenience. Please contact Gordon County Extension Office at 706-629-8685 if you intend to bring your animals on Friday night to ensure that someone is at the pavilion to unlock the gate. Exhibitors may show a maximum of two heifers in this show. All heifers must be properly halter broken and lead in a manageable fashion to be eligible for show. Exhibitors must show their own animal in showmanship, no exceptions. Exhibitors must show their own animal unless they have more than one per class. Any fellow 4-H or FFA member may show the second animal for the exhibitor. Each exhibitor must furnish his own feed, feed trough, water pails, and be responsible for the care of the animal while at the show. Bedding will be provided. The show will not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit, but will give the best care and attention of the animal while at the show.
Age classifications will be as follows: Senior Heifer Calves Heifers born September 1 through December 31 of previous year (e.g. 2013 for 2014 show) Junior Heifer Calves Heifers born January 1 and later of current year Breed classifications will be divided in Purebred and Commercial with British, European and Brahman Influenced groups as numbers permit. Categories will be designed by Show Officials. Five (5) or more heifers will make a breed division. YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR SHOWMANSHIP ON THE ENTRY FORM $5.00 PER EXHIBITOR DO NOT ASK TO SIGN UP ON THE DAY OF SHOW Premiums/Awards are as follows: Showmanship: 1 st $20 and Award, 2 nd - $20, 3 rd - $17, 4 th - $14, 5 th - $10, 6 th and under - $5 Class: 1 st $30, 2 nd - $25, 3 rd - $20, 4 th - $15, 5 th - $10, 6 th and under - $5 Division Champion and Division Reserve Champion will receive plaques. Supreme Champion Heifer and Reserve Supreme Heifer will receive an award. Entry form must be mailed along with the entry fee of $10.00 per head with $5.00 additional for showmanship per exhibitor no later than Friday, October 25, 2013.
