A registered non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization Published monthly by Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies ell, after all the crazy planning that went into the 2015 gala, it s hard to adjust to normal life again. A special thank you to all those who participated in any and every way with this gala; we could not have pulled it off without every single person who volunteered their time. We had a couple firsts this year: we sold out tickets, we raised record funds for the pups, and also cut expenses quite a bit by reformatting the event. We learned a lot, and there will be changes and fixes in the future that are the result of great feedback. Some changes will be obvious and some more subtle. At the end of the day, we were all brought together for the benefit of the dogs we love, which is the key point to keep in mind. Together, we were successful in raising a record sum of money to care for the dogs. Approximately $110,000! A few of us have the good fortune to see the amazing changes that occur from the time paws set foot on Phoebe s Place to the time that those paws find their way to a forever home. The dogs lives and the lives of the new adopters improve, and those positive changes are what you make happen. You help rescue these dogs, you help get them medical care, and you help them find a perfect home. Now, on to next year! The June 11, 2016 gala will, in part, celebrate GRRRs 20th anniversary. This event will have some really fun features and it will be very Golden Retriever focused. As a dog lover, you will want to be part of this 20-year celebration. We will implement some changes from this year s event and will increase the dog love considerably. Thank you all again for your tremendous dedication to the dogs we love and appreciate.

he VIP team is going strong with an influx of new volunteers. The dogs are getting out several times day, soaking up all the attention, and loving the exercise. The time spent with the dogs in our care is special for both the dogs and the humans. There is nothing like enjoying a beautiful fall day with a Golden walking by your side. Contact Sukie McMaster to join the walking team (sukie.mcmaster@goldenrescue.com). We are offering another training session led by Carole McMurry on September 19th. It will start at 10 a.m. and last about 1.5 hours at Phoebe s Place. Carole has years of dog training experience to share with us and help us work with the dogs more effectively. Subjects to be covered include loose leash walking, getting in and out of the kennel run, how to put on the training collar correctly, dog body language, and much more. Training is not required, but is highly encouraged for members of the VIP team. Learning some manners helps the dogs become more adoptable. Everyone is welcome to join us. Here is the link to the sign-up form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1d33ze0ept0b-ebpoa fqoonevykillcpglx_cybwz0/ viewform?usp=send_form Hope to see you there. s many of you know, part of living in the world of 501C3s is that we get the pleasure of always seeking out the best deals on stuff that we can t manage to acquire for free (though free is better, of course). This includes everything from great prices on the Nutro food we use, to weed killer, to you name it. Our upcoming need is for cement, preferably before winter. Yep, not glamorous, but necessary. We would like to get a cement slab poured that is about 15 feet x 15 feet alongside our existing shed. So, if you are a cement contractor or a wizard in the world of cement, please shoot me an email so we can discuss this in more detail. Thank you. Contact me at kevin.shipley@goldenrescue.com Look for an e-blast soon with more details about our annual volunteer holiday party. Ho ho ho!

After a few year s hiatus, GRRR was back to march in the Buffalo Bill Days Parade in Golden on July 25th. We had a small but mighty group of volunteers and dogs, and, as always, the dogs were a huge hit with the crowd! Thank you to all of the members and volunteers for coming out to show off our awesome dogs and build community awareness for GRRR! Help Wanted! GRRR is looking for a coordinator for each event for 2016. This way a person can sign up to help run one event instead of the whole enchilada. If you d like to discuss leading one of our events, just let us know. Email: kevin.shipley@goldenrescue.com
