Prestage Farms 4-H Youth Livestock Round-Up Sampson County Heifer, Goat, & Lamb Show August 24 th & 25 th, 2012 Thank you to Prestage Farms for their continued support of this 16 th annual event. Judge-Stuart Moore This event will be located at the Sampson County Livestock Facility, one mile south of Clinton on Hwy 421. This show is open to all youth who have not reached their 19 th birthday prior to January 1, 2012. For information the day of the show, call Charmae Kendall @ 910-271- 0897. Market Goat Show- *Friday*, August 24 th, 6:00pm Market Lamb & Ewe Show- Saturday August 25 th, 9:00am Heifer Show- Saturday August 25 th, after Lamb Show (around 11:00am) Free ice cream social at event! Showmanship Classes will be held during the respective shows. Upon request, on- site veterinarians will issue health papers for $5.00. Health papers will not be required. An on- site vet or Extension Agent will examine animals. Sick animals will not be accepted! Rules, regulations, and entry forms are attached. Those without will be asked to leave the show. HEALTH PAPERS WILL NOT BE REQUIRED. AN ON-SITE VET OR EXTENSION AGENT WILL EXAMINE ANIMALS. SICK OR CONTAGIOUS ANIMALS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND NOT ALLOWED TO SHOW. 1. Open to all youth who have not had their 19th birthday prior to January 1, 2012. 2. Market kids may be wethers or does and may be shown with optional collars and halters. ***All horn tips must be dulled and/or blunt. *** Market Kids must weigh a minimum of 20 pounds with no maximum. Baby teeth must be in place. 3. Exhibitors will be limited to 2 entries. 4. Market Kids must have been under the exhibitor's care since July 15, 2012. 5. Market Kids must be clean. 6. If an exhibitor has more than one entry per class, the additional animal must be shown by another exhibitor or person approved by show officials. 7. Market Kid classes will be divided by weight. PRESTAGE FARMS MARKET LAMB & EWE SHOW Saturday, August 25, 2012, 9:00am Ewe Show first, then Market Lamb Show Animal take-in 7:30-8:30am Entries close August 17, 2012. All lambs must have USDA Scrapie tags in place before arrival at the show. ANIMALS WITHOUT TAGS WILL HAVE TO LEAVE THE SHOW GROUNDS HEALTH PAPERS WILL NOT BE REQUIRED. AN ON-SITE VET OR EXTENSION AGENT WILL EXAMINE ANIMALS. SICK OR CONTAGIOUS ANIMALS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND NOT ALLOWED TO SHOW. 1. Open to all youth who have not had their 19th birthday prior to January 1, 2012. 2. Open to ewe or wether lambs weighing at least 75 lbs. All lambs must have baby teeth in place at the time of the show. 3. Exhibitors will be limited to 2 entries in the market lamb show & 2 entries in the ewe show. 4. Lambs must have been under the exhibitor's care since July 15, 2012. 5. Lambs must be sheared and clean. 6. If an exhibitor has more than one entry per class, the additional animal must be shown by another exhibitor or person approved by show officials. 7. PRESTAGE FARMS BEEF HEIFER SHOW Saturday, August 25, 2012, after lamb show (around 11:00am) Animal take-in 9:30-10:30am. Entries close August 17, 2012. HEALTH PAPERS WILL NOT BE REQUIRED. AN ON-SITE VET OR EXTENSION AGENT WILL EXAMINE ANIMALS. SICK OR CONTAGIOUS ANIMALS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE AND NOT ALLOWED TO SHOW. 1. Open to youth age 5 years old & who have not reached their 19 th birthday prior to January 1, 2012. 2. Heifers must be born on or after September 1, 2010, but no later than April 30, 2012. 3. Heifers must have been under the exhibitor's care since July 15, 2012. Ownership by exhibitors is not required. 4. Exhibitors will be limited to 2 entries. If an exhibitor has more than one entry per class, the additional animal must be shown by another exhibitor or person approved by show officials. 5. Show officials reserve the right to rearrange classes other than those advertised prior to show time. 6. Heifers must be halter broken. Unruly animals, which may endanger the safety of exhibitors, will be asked to leave the ring. HEIFER SHOW CLASSES Heifers will be shown by date of birth. PRESTAGE FARMS SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES Will be held at conclusion of each species show. 1. Exhibitors entered in the Heifer, Sheep, and Market Kid shows are automatically entered into Showmanship classes. 2. Exhibitor age and class entry will be determined by their age as of January 1, 2012. 3. Classes will be divided into: Jr. (ages 9-10), Intermediate (ages 11-13), Sr. (ages 14-19), and Cloverbuds (ages under 9). 4. Judging will be based solely on showmanship- Not Fitting. 5.
