Walk For Animals & Furry 5K Fun Run Saturday - June 2, 2018 Bayfront Festival Park Duluth, MN Sponsorship Opportunities
About Animal Allies Humane Society For over 60 years, Animal Allies Humane Society has been a leader in the protection of companion animals. Today, Animal Allies continues to embody the highest standards in animal welfare at our state-of-the-art facility in Duluth, Minnesota. Each year, we match over 1,300 homeless pets with loving families, teach over 10,000 children lessons of compassion and care, provide medical care and reduce the number of unwanted litters by providing spay/neuter procedures for homeless pets, and maintain zero euthanasia of healthy cats and dogs. Animal Allies is an independent nonprofit organization, with no affiliation to any national animal welfare organization or government agency. Our work is funded by private donations, special events, and adoption and program fees. In 2017, Animal Allies Humane Society achieved a 97% Live Release Rate, which means that 97% of the animals we took in were placed in adoptive homes or transferred to other rescue organizations. This Live Release Rate is one of the highest in the country. When our Campaign for Zero was launched in 2010, the original goal was to eliminate the euthanasia of healthy animals entering shelters in our community. In 2015 we surpassed that goal and, in addition to healthy animals, placed all treatable animals including those requiring extra medical or behavioral care before adoption as well. Animal Allies also shares its mission and message with school children, teachers, and community organizations in the region through free classroom lessons and programs. Our humane education programs focus on key pillars of character including empathy, responsibility, respect, and citizenship which define our actions with people as well as animals. With the generosity and support of businesses, families and individuals, Animal Allies Humane Society continues to make the Twin Ports a more humane community for all. Thank you for allowing us to continue providing care and compassion to the pets and people in our community.
