A registered non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization Published monthly by Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies ell, well, hard to believe it's been about 7 weeks since the GRRR pups were born. Pretty amazing at how fast they grow. Sunday morning was a fun experience. Carole McMurry (Peebody Dog Training) had a few of us involved with holding the pups (yeah, twist my arm-lol) and started puppy testing. It was a brief series of tests to see how comfortable they are being held, their focus and attention while seeing a toy tossed in front of them and reaction to strange noises. They were great fun to hold and watch their reaction to all this flurry of activity. With each spoken for, their new families will appreciate the great care and lessons mom (Hope) has taught them. BTW, to see some amazing well trained pups, the big dog show is quickly approaching us. Our own, Carole McMurry will be showing 4 of her dogs at the National Western Complex. February 14-17 Rocky Mountain Cluster. No wonder Hope is pooped, that's a lot of puppies!

One Day Old One Week Old Hope was found wandering in a Home Depot parking lot. She was taken to Foothills Animal Shelter and they suspected she was pregnant so they contacted GRRR. She had 11 puppies on Friday, December 6th. From the very beginning she was a wonderful mom, very attentive and patient. The adorable puppies were formally evaluated by Carole McMurray and they all had very distinct personalities all the way from the big saucy girl who rules the roost and saunters around like a precocious child, to one little boy, who during one of the testing promptly fell asleep, he was so relaxed. All puppies are going to their lucky new homes this weekend. Two Weeks Old

e are off to another great year full of walking and playing with the dogs at Phoebe's Place. The dogs are getting out every day sometimes more than once! They are always happy to see us and full of tail wags and wiggles. On average, the VIP Team spends 170 hours per month with the dogs! Thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who come out in all types of weather to spend time with our wonderful dogs. Hope's 10 adorable puppies will be making their debut in the kennel this month. We will also hold another training session with Carole McMurry at the end of the month. ell, at long last we are finishing repairs and updates so we can make the September floods a distant memory. Several house items are underway: basement shelving, frontyard repair, and the roof and gutter repairs should all be completed by the end of February. In addition, we have a few improvements going on as well. The interior of the garage is being finished and re-purposed for dog food and other frequently used dry storage items. We re also adding a wellness area for our pups that have regular treatments of various kinds. The kenneling area is seeing some tweaks as well. Some of these projects include: covering the outdoor runs with chainlink and corrugated plastic, so snow and water runs away from the run instead of into the run; safety and security improvements to the indoor kennels; as well as improvements to the grooming area. We are underway (as weather allows) putting in the walking trail in the back acreage in addition to creating a useful space for events we may want to have. We are also improving the trail down to the back acreage by flattening the slope and installing steps and a railing. We are really excited to have all these projects completed by the spring so all of us can more fully enjoy the beautiful property we have here. Thank you for your incredible support. We have so many wonderful volunteers that roll their sleeves up and dive in. You are greatly appreciated.

Civic Organizations Can Play a Big Role I've had the pleasure of belonging to and working with various civic organizations. Rotary, Kiwanis, Optimists, and others have done so much to improve communities and provide support to local organizations like ours. If you belong to one of these organizations, we (GRRR) would love an opportunity to be involved with one of your weekly programs. We have a terrific story and have touched so many furry and human lives that I would be proud to let everyone know about the great work we (together) are doing. Please feel free to e-mail me directly if you know of an opportunity: kevin. shipley@goldenrescue.com Volunteer Needs Our adoption (Placement) team is looking for someone to enter adoptions into an Excel spreadsheet and register microchips. Attention to detail is a must, along with weekly visit to Phoebe s Place. It should amount to about 1 3 hours weekly, some of which could possibly be done from home, but the adoption info would need to be picked up at Phoebe s Place. If interested please contact: darla.henderson@goldenrescue.com Thanks! We re also looking for some light administrative help in the office at GRRR. Flexible hours and days. For more info please contact: kevin.shipley@goldenrescue.com

Linda and Jory Nancy, Deb and Pete Kevin Shipley Cindi, Wanda, Nancette, Jean and Nancy Gloria, Wendy, Melissa, Shanna, Mary and Doug (what a lucky guy!) Judi and Pat, tellin' secrets? Pat, Susan, Ellie and Debbie Thanks Alan, aka Santa, Davidson to everyone who came to the annual volunteer holiday party. We had so many people we might have to get a larger place next year! Everyone enjoyed good food and good company, and getting a chance to know other volunteers. Thanks to all who donated items for the dogs at Phoebe's Place!

Yep, our gala is coming up faster than you think. This year s gala will be held on Saturday, June 28th at Tivoli. We are having a blast preparing for you to have the best time ever. If you have items that you believe would be great silent- or live-auction items, please shoot me an e-mail (kevin.shipley@goldenrescue.com ) or call to discuss. Thank you!
