Q&A with ECKART ECKART answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Calm, thoughtful, disciplined, intelligent, independent, sloppy, liberal, playful, ambitious, loyal. Describe your strong sides: I know what I want and I am ambitious about getting it. I can do hard work with a clear goal. I like trying out productivity hacks and tools. I m open and I find it relatively easy to talk to new people when I set my mind to it. Describe your weak sides: I am a bit sloppy. I am sometimes a bit insecure about people and do not always expect the best from them. Sometimes I really love a lazy day and I often value sleep more than going out partying. What is your marital status? Single. Do you have any children? No. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Judo, handball, weight lifting, climbing, scuba diving Which other types of sports are you interested in? Scuba diving, climbing and weight lifting. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: Programming, saxophone, drums, music, boardgames, reading. List which musical instruments you play or have played: Drums, saxophone. Religion: Atheist. How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? 6.5. Do you eat healthy? I try. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? All the time. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? A couple of beers at the friday bar. Which countries have you visited: USA, Palau, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Czech Republic, UK, Turkey. Describe the best holiday you have had: I took two months off after defending my master s degree to travel Malaysia with my girlfriend. Traveling the entire country by bus. Amazing food from street vendors. When I was exploring caves, I ended up in the hospital because I was clumsy and fell, and cut open my shin in an underground river, still, it was a great experience. They have great healthcare and I have a story to tell. Amazing people everywhere. I learned scuba diving in paradise, seeing turtles bigger than a car, looking through old wrecks and swimming with lionfish and swarms of colourful smaller ones. What do you like the most about your own country: The feeling of home. I can sit on the train and hear conversations and understand them with ease because people speak my language. I like the safety, nothing ever happens. I know how things work, nothing is foreign, really.

Q&A with ECKART - continued ECKART s dreams, favourites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? Elon Musk: Such a smart person with drive that puts everything on the line to make this world a better place. Albert Einstein: Such a smart fella that is remembered as someone that stuck out his tongue to a camera. What are your goals in life? I want to contribute something to humanity. Do good and make some people s lives better. Happiest: It was my first love and we stood at an open air concert. Around us, it was muddy and people rushed to get under a front of the vendors stands. We had our eyes closed and cool raindrops the size of grapes fell on a hot summer day. We stood there kissing, as if the world did not exist. That moment was pure magic. What were your childhood dreams: I wanted to be an inventor and make the world remember me. Which values do you rank the highest? Loyalty, dedication and kindness. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? I lived in the suburbs of a large city. So, there were a lot of places to play outside. We would ride our bikes and we would climb and build caves in the bushes. The biggest impression on me was surely that we managed to carry a tree trunk as a group of kids. It taught me so much about being physically strong and working in a team, I still like to think back on it. Funniest: One of the funnier moments in my youth included a new microphone and good old Windows 95. We found out that you can record sounds and reverse or speed them up. A couple of friends and myself could spend hours rambling things and listening to it backwards. Some of the pronounciations were legendary running gags for years. Which was your greatest experience or moment? When I arrived in Copenhagen. A van full of stuff, someone who wanted to rent me their apartment and someone who offered me a job. I got to live in this awesome place and it was a time for a new beginning. Scariest: Went to walk the dog after a horror movie and a couple of beers. A friend and I were watching the Grudge, we had candles on and it was a very eerie air outside. The clouds formed enormous towers and the dog had to go. It was terrifying.

Q&A with ECKART - continued ECKART s dreams, favourites and experiences Proudest: When I held the book in my hands that I wrote a chapter for. It felt amazing to have created something that people in the entire world can now get. Most dangerous: I did a very stupid thing in Thailand. I was talked into a Tuk Tuk that ended up taking me to a shop owned by the mafia. I talked my way out, especially since Thais are very careful about harming tourists (there are special regulations and a dedicated tourist police). That was definitely the most stupid and most dangerous situation I ever was in. What is your favourite kind of car? Mini Cooper, so much understatement and British tradition. What is your favourite kind of pet? Dogs for their enthusiasm and cats for their independence What is your favourite time of year? Fall, not too hot, not too cold. Leaves look great and there s pumpkin soup! Greatest sorrow: We had to bury our cat. She was really young, but she got in a fight with a larger animal. It was fatal but she tried to come back home. Every day on my way to school, I could see the marks on the ground that she left. She was all black and this magical feline that would just turn up somewhere and be an awesome cat. What is your favourite book and/or author? Neil Gaiman - American Gods or Patrick Rothfuss - The Kingkiller Chronicles. What is your favourite movie and/or director? Quentin Tarantino. What is your favourite colour? Petrol, this perfect mixture of blue and green just makes me happy. What is your favourite animal? Tiger, biggest cat in the world, too clumsy to climb and still awesome. What is your favourite kind of food? Burger, it s so versatile, almost always good and sometimes simply amazing. What is your favourite kind of music? Metal, first girlfriend got me into it, now there s no escaping it. Also, the festivals are great.
