Come Celebrate Our 10th Annual Spring Social Dear Friends, On Friday, March 24th, 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM, the FKSPCA will be hosting its annual Spring Social at the Key West Golf Club. Since the very first event back in 2007, the Spring Social has become a fixture on the social calendar. The silent auction alone is arguably the biggest and best in town and food and wine flow freely. Then there's the setting: the Golf Club with its rolling green views adds to the elegant ambiance. From little acorns, mighty oak trees grow. Ten years ago, friends Lisa Cowen and Georgia and Tom Favelli knew firsthand how desperately we needed a new, safe shelter. Longtime volunteers at the shelter, they walk dogs every day at the Key West campus. They knew about the flooding in a heavy rain, the rats, the leaks and the unsafe environment for staff, volunteers and, of course, the animals in our care. They enlisted their friend, Christopher Rounds (then co-owner of Antonia's, now co-owner of La Te Da, not to mention King of Fantasy Fest 2016) to help put together the very first Spring Social and as they say, the rest is history. Christopher's enthusiasm and expertise took care of the food and wine; Lisa and Georgia pounded the streets for silent auction donations. Ever since, the Spring Social has become bigger and better and still better. Since that first Spring Social, over $680,000 have been raised for the new shelter, an amazing feat! Under the direction of Tiffany Burton, our Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator, this year's Spring Social promises to top them all. Featuring Tom Luna as MC & auctioneer, Josh Ramsteck & Bassman Bill as entertainment; Florida Keys Brewing Company, Key West Personal Chef's Martin Liz and Christopher Rounds are providing our wonderful dinner. VIP & General Admission Tickets are available at www.keystix.com or General Admission Tickets are available at our shelter at 5230 College Rd. With warmest regards, Jane Jane Dawkins, Board President FKSPCA
Meet "Blue" Blue is an 8-year-old Pit Bull Mix that is in search of her forever home. She was surrendered because her owners, who had her since she was a puppy, had to suddenly move out of the country and could not take her with them. Blue is a sweet, affectionate, playful girl. She loves her toys, to play ball and cuddling in her soft bed. She is happy to go on short walks and get lots of treats! Blue is a wonderful girl who needs a second chance with a loving family. She has shown her goofy side dressing up and is happy just for a little attention. If you are interested in adopting Blue, stop by the Key West Campus or call 305-294-4857 to meet Blue today. Coco & Murphy Coco and Murphy were recently surrendered to the Marathon Campus. Their owner has been hospitalized for about a year and sadly isn't getting any better. Their caretaker brought them to the Marathon Campus in hopes the pair could find a new home together. Murphy is a senior Chihuahua and his younger female friend Coco is a Pomeranian mix. The pair get along great with cats, other small dogs and adore people. If you've got room in your heart and your home for two little dogs meet Coco and Murphy in Marathon! Call 305-743-4800 or stop by the campus at 10550 Aviation Blvd. (behind the airport).
Meet "Layla" If you have been to our cat adoption rooms at the Key West Campus, chances are you've met Layla. She was surrendered to us 2 1/2 years ago and is still waiting for a new family to take her home! Layla is an 8 ½ year old independent girl who loves to nap anywhere she can find a warm spot, eat all the treats (clearly!) and be the Queen Bee. She would do best in an adult home where she will get exercise to help trim her waistline. She does like everything to happen on her terms, but she is worth all the royal treatment! Stop by to meet this wonderful kitty at our Key West shelter today! Find out more
