What Happens If One Of My Chickens Gets Sick? Is one or more of your flock displaying some odd behaviours? Can you see some tell-tale signs of illness, such as a runny nose or droopy, lethargic body language? Your chicken may be feeling a bit under the weather, and might need your assistance to help their health get back on track. Some signs your chickens aren t feeling up to scratch include: A pale, limp comb (potential symptoms of frostbite or worms) Coughing, wheezing, runny nose (respiratory diseases) Mangy/patchy feathers (lice or mites) Heavy breathing, holding wings away from their body (heat stroke) For more symptoms and what to look for, read Check Your Chicken How To Tell If Your Flock Is Healthy in our Learning Centre.

6 Ways to Boost Your Chooks Immune System A good balanced diet composed of age-appropriate feed and a never ending supply of fresh clean water is an egg-cellent start to keeping healthy hens. Add some healthy treats to their everyday mix and give them the upper wing when it comes to beating the baddies. Start from scratch - feed chicks treats of garlic, scrambled eggs or oats. All chickens should get some ACV - apple cider vinegar that is! Herbs are little green bundles of health for your chooks From the market or the garden, fresh vegetables are always a winner! Simple seeds and grains turn super for your chook! Yogurt is a go-er. Probiotics help your chicken s tummy balance itself out. Egg-speriment with different combinations of ingredients. Your chooks will be flap-happy to have such variety!
