After graduating from high school, he immediately enrolled at a college. While in school, he felt compelled to enlist in the military, where he served for 12 years. In the military, he worked as a paratrooper and as a patient transporter. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and after he retired from the military, he returned to school and is currently a college student. LORNE plans to spend four years on his education to earn a Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration. He wants to complete his degree so that he can provide for his girlfriend and two children. His native language is Filipino, and he speaks English as well. I served in the military for 12 years, and am currently a full-time student.
Q&A with LORNE LORNE answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Optimistic, honest, caring. Describe your strong sides: I consider myself very caring and optimistic for the most part. I don t get discouraged easily. I tend look at problems as situations that just needs more time figure out and then pursue solutions to said problems. Things happen for a reason and whatever happens I take as a learning experience. Describe your weak sides: If I half-heartedly believe in something I usually do not give it 100-percent effort and tend not to finish or follow through. On the other hand, if I truly believe in a cause I tend to sacrifice too much time and effort into it that I forget to spend personal time to myself and with family. What is your marital status? In a relationship. Do you have any children? My older son is six years old. He is tall for his age. He has black hair and brown eyes. He is very active and very intelligent. He loves the outdoors. He is 43 inches in height and weighs 43 lbs. He has never been hospitalized for any of illness. My younger son is two years old. He has blonde hair and blue greenish eyes. He is also very active but a very gentle boy. He is 36 inches tall and weighs 31 lbs. He has never been hospitalized for anything. Neither of my sons have any allergies or disabilities. Describe the best holiday you have had: The best holiday I have ever had was just this past year. My girlfriend and I went a seven day cruise to Jamaica for the first together. It was quite memorable and exciting. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Basketball, baseball, football, ping-pong, and any type of outdoor activity. Which other types of sports are you interested in? I watch and play baseball and football. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: I fish, hunt, hike and go camping when I can. What do you like the most about your own country: What I love the most about the United States are the freedoms that every citizen has and practice in everyday life. I find it motivational that someone from a modest background and upbringing can attend school and acquire a career where they have the opportunity to lift themselves up from poverty in this country. In turn, the same person is able to contribute to society and donate to charity to help others. This country is known as a country that donates generously to charity.
Q&A with LORNE - continued LORNE s dreams, favorites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? The American minister Billy Graham is one of my heroes. He sacrificed time, money, body, and time with his family to help the needy around the world. What are your goals in life? My main goal in life is to put myself in a position where I can help the needy and desperate so that they don t have to feel hopeless and alone. What were your childhood dreams: My childhood dream was to be able to help my own family to have the happiest lives that they could live. Which values do you rank the highest? Integrity and loyalty. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? The volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991 left a lasting impression of my father on me. He was working at the time of the event and was about 50 miles from home. I was 8 years old at the time and was terrified. My father decided to drive home but managed to get stuck on the road 30 miles away. He walked the last 30 miles while it was raining ash and mud. He made it home safe and comforted my fears and kept us safe. What is your favorite kind of food? Eating a medium rare steak is one of the greatest experiences one could have. What is your favorite kind of music? Country music. What is your favorite kind of car? Driving and owning BMW 325i was and is the most pleasurable driving experiences I have ever had. What is your favorite kind of pet? Dogs are the most loyal pets that I have ever had the pleasure to own. What is your favorite time of year? Fall. What is your favorite book and/or author? The Wheel of Time, by Brandon Sanderson. What is your favorite movie and/or director? The Band of Brothers series. Which was your greatest experience or moment? Enlisting and having the honor to serve in the United States military. Happiest: When my two sons were born. Funniest: Can t name one specific memory, but I have the pleasure to have a good laugh with my girlfriend at least once a week. Scariest: I had several scary experiences during my deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Proudest: Graduating the United States Airborne School. Most dangerous: Every time I jumped out of a perfectly working aircraft. Greatest sorrow: My father passing away. What is your favorite color? My favorite color is blue.
