Tracking: Secured at the State of Indiana Dept of Homeland Security Search and Rescue Training Center The new IPO Rules will start on Jan 1st 2012. there will be no more VPG or SchH, only IPO. The new rules have not been posted and a few kinks are still being worked out. I will post when available. Yes are they taking it to the wire I know. Wendy Schmitt IV. C Member Communications Committee FOCUS The UDC FOCUS 4th Quarter Nationals Edition is on track. All materials were sent to Robin Nutall on time. There is good news and bad news - the good news is that we had fairly decent advertisement sales which will help offset costs. Ad sales previously were basically non-existent except for the SAR folks. For the 4th Qtr. issue we had a total of 10 full page advertisements and a single 1/2 page advertisement. This resulted in a large chuck of our alloted pages being used up. The bad news is that I had to cut articles for a lack of space. I would be over 40 pages if I included all the content that was submitted. Since this was a "Nationals" issue, I used that as my criteria - with one exception, the subject matter of all articles is the 2011 UDC Nationals. The one exception was Brandi Williams listing of living IPO 3, SAR, and Service Dogs which we committed to our membership to be in the 4th Qtr FOCUS. Robin worked very hard in re-formatting the Nationals Trophy Donations, Conformation and Trial Results and the Judges Critques so we could get all the Nationals information published. Unfortunately, I needed to cut the following articles: Doug Matson's IDC Article Chris Rasmussen's ZTP Article Tiffany Mahaffny's - Police Dog Training Article Listing of VC/VCX Title Holders Member Club Listing BOD Listing Brags & Whelping Box IV D Member Communications Committee - icontact (Linda Lindic) Two icontact Message were sent in October. 10/10/2011 - Message on Calendar Sales, 3rd Qtr FOCUS posting, FOCUS Survey, and WDC December IPO Trial 10/29/2011 - Message on the Four Member Club Trial and paragraph on the recording of IPO Titles earned at UDC Events. IV E Member Communication Committee Facebook- Brandi Williams We now have 185 "likes" on Facebook. The site is staying pretty active. I added Larry Kye as an admin as he is one of our more active posters and this will allow his posts to be seen easier. I hope to continue to utilize the site to promote our Zazzle materials, membership drive etc.

Please take a few minutes to check the site when you are on FB and to actively comment or "like" posts that appeal to you. Also, don't forget to "share" the page so we can get more activity. The more "likes" and comments a post has the higher it will rank to those who subscribe and this helps us keep an active presence. I have also been posting any approved UDC events to the page. If you are attending an UDC event please make sure to notate that on the event. This also helps keep our FB page active and encourages activity by others. IV F United Doberman Club.com-Linda Lindic Updates to the UDC Web page since the last meeting are as follows: Four Member Club Trials posted to the Events Page Four Member Club Trials were posted to the Events Calendar Member Benefits Page Revised The Fall IPO Classic Results were sent for posting but are not yet done. Member Clubs that are holding Trials need to remember to send me their event results so I can get them posted. IV G Printed materials NO REPORT IV. H Zazzle Store. ITotal income from sale of Zazzle Store Merchandise is $232.27. We recie3ved a royalty check for $144.31 in October and $87.96 in November. IV I 2012 UDC Calender Project-Linda Lindic The 2012 UDC Calendar Project is on track. Calendars are on order and will be shipped once received. The income from the insertions is $1,260.00 ($105.00 x 12). Unfortunately, sales were not as robust as 2010. In 2010 we sold 112 Calendars. This year we sold 82 Calendars. We charged $25.00 per calendar which includes shipping. So income from sales is $2,050.00. Total income for sales & insertions is $3,310.00. Expenses to date are $1,279.86 which is the price of the calendars. I enrolled in "Zazzle Black" 30 Day Trial which give free shipping. Therefore there were no shipping charges or tax. The day after the calendars were ordered, Zazzle had a "SALE" on Calendars. I called Customer Service and was able to get a credit adjust of $161.42. That will bring the price of the calendars down to $1,118.44. Total Income $3,310.00 Expenses to date 1,118.44 Net Income... $2,191.56 From the $2,191.56 we will have expenses for envelopes and postage when the calendars are mailed out by Bonnie Guzman

IV. J IPO Classic Report- Linda Kurz The IPO classic with the 2012 DPCA national will be held at Ft. Mitchell, KY, There is no field at the hotel but a local Schutzhund club has been contacted and is amenable to hosting. Sherry Beck has stepped forward to chair the event. Recent discussion from the DPCA indicates that they would like to see a breed survey. I have added this to the new business for approval at this meeting so Sherry can go forward with arrangements. The IPO classic will be held on the first Saturday and the breed survey on the following Sunday. I have contacted several people about producing some kind of educational/promotional material for this event. I would like a you-tube video that might convince some of the conformation people to try our BSB. IV. K 2012 National Doug Matson----NO REPORT IV. L Working Breeder of Distinction Wendy Schmitt- I have been working on this. Some of my thoughts. First the titled prodgeny should be from 2 different females and a total of at least 3 litters. I am looking at a total of at minimum 5 dogs titled. As for what consists of a title? IPO1, SchH1, MR1,and PSA1 or greater. I am thinking SAR dogs should go under a service dog program for breeders for Service Dog Breeders. For me this should be about showing consistancy in a breeding program. Having one great litter or one great bitch is nice but this should be about a breeders ability to make good choices with a variety of dogs. Linda Kurz: When you have a proposal ready, post to newboard and we will debate it but your ideas seem reasonable. I can think of only two or three that could qualify at this point. At least one in mind has not been a UDC member for a few years but maybe this would get them back. We would need some kind of promotional material (facebook? website?, other?) to make this meaningful. Wendy Schmitt: Linda I can think of 5, so I'm sure there are even more. Oh I do want to add there should be 2 SchH3 or IPO3 dogs out of the 5. Again all 5 breeders I am thinking of still qualify. Tiffany: I would disagree that SAR is not a working dog program. However, I can see how it would fit as both a "service" and "work." If you are only wanting the "working" to mean some type of schutzhund work (not law enforcement or SAR), then I would change the program name to represent it as such IV.M Bred for Working Program Linda Kurz I have not had time to finish work on this project because other issues, particularly the upcoming national, have taken precedence. I will circulate the draft to some breeders to see what they think and report back according to their comments.

IV.N Membership Drive Brandi Williams- Linda L: An advertisement for the Winter Membershiip Drive was included in the 4th Qtr FOCUS (see page 2 of PDF) which members will receive in December. I checked out Vistaprint, the vendor I used for our UDC Brochures. One idea, is to send postcards to our member regarding the Membership Drive. Price for 250 postcards is $55.00 not including postage. Ihave a 25% off coupon for a future order that was included with my brochures that could be used. They have template designs or you can create your own. Another possibility is to have a flyer in PDF format on UDC Official and UDC Web that members can print and distribute or email to friends. Brandi Williams: Can we do both the postcards and the flyer? The flyer would not really cost except someone to make it. Also, if its done in the correct format we can "share" it on facebook and get some exposure there.i would be happy to address and send out the postcards. It seems like something we could do with a total price of less than $100.We could also make a concentrated effort to request members post flyers etc where applicable. Perhaps if they have a show they are going to or something? Beth Bishop: I think this is a good idea (do both). Do we need a motion? V.Unfinished Business A. Approve new members and late renewals. B Poll Results B. Record the following polls 1. Poll to approve Tri-State IPO trial November 13, 2011 2. Poll to approve Mid-South Working Doberman Club Trial 3. Poll to approve Robin Nuttall to produce the 4th quarter FOCUS as an all color printed publication Beth Bishop moves to that we record polls, Marie Miller seconds VI. A New Business- Central Valley Doberman Club Approve Central Valley Doberman Club IPO trial to be held 12/17-18, 2011 offering IPO 1-3, BH, ADpr, STP, RH with USCA judge Warren Jones. Trial will be held at Big Basin Dog Training 4554 Clarinel Rd. Modesto CA. Trial secretary is Erynn Lucas. Wendy moves to approve and Linda Lindic seconds VI. B Focus Contract 2012 Chris Rasmussen did an analysis of all the bids we received the following is her analysis along with a spreadsheet she prepared. "I have compiled a spreadsheet of the different bids we have received for publishing the FOCUS.

None of these bids have anything to do with actually printing the FOCUS for the 4th quarter, with regards for pricing for printing. In most of the cases, it seems that whatever they produce for 4th quarter will be ready to be shipped to the printer of choice. (not sure about the Susan Lombard quote in this respect). Some of the bidders went into detail about how much they will charge people to create ads for them. This is superfluous info as it doesn't really affect our bottom line. My recommendation after going through all these bids and emailing the different offerers, is that we go with Robin Nuttal for the year. She knows our business, has already produced a high quality issue for us, and I think we'll be talking about $1000/issue (except for yearbook, which hopefully will take longer to put together due to all the content )." I have now worked with Robin on two issues and we have an excellent working relationship. She is very responsive and accessible by phone or email. I have also learned how to design advertisements and have provided that service to members without a charge which makes selling ads a whole lot easier in that they do not have to pay $50.00 plus for an ad design as long as they can provide a quality photo. I think having one a contract with a publisher for 3 editions and one member created edition is a good compromise. Having only one edition for the members to create reduces the risk of life interferences with getting the publication out on time. Also, it will be much easier for me to have a "breather" in regard to producing the FOCUS and this task has taken a much larger chunk of my time than I would have ever imagined or would have wanted to devote to this project. In addition, we are only contracting to have the FOCUS produced in a digital version - we are not locked into printing the 4th Qtr edition if we experience a sudden decline in revenue. My hope is that once the membership knows that the FOCUS is an "on-time", attractive publication we can acquire enough revenue through-out the year to pay for the printed edition. The following FOCUS financials were put together by Irina for 2008 and 2009. 2008 Expense - $17,073.00 Revenue - $ 6,298.00 Net Expense - $10,775.00 2009 Expense - $15,884.00 Revenue - $ 4,305.00 Net Expense - $11.579.00 2012PROJECTED Expense (3 digital) $4,500 Revenue $2,000

Production Expense $2,500 Print & Postage $2,250 Net Expense $4,750. Here are the assumptions I used for my "Projected Expenses". The production expense would be at the maximum of $1,500.00 per issue. Revenue would of $2,000.00 would be by selling 12 ads throughout the year at $75.00 (4 per 3 Qtrs) and getting 2 $500.00 contracts with Businesses. Beth: I will be summarizing the results of the surveymonkey survey by mid-week. I have mailed the survey to those without email addresses and have received several replies. I will add those to surveymonkey before I summarize results. Not sure that this is where this report should go. Results of the surveymonkey FOCUS survey have been posted in the Corresponding Secretary report. Linda L: Made motion to approve the proposal for the 2012 FOCUS contract. Chris R. Seconded. Linda Kurz requested the motion to be added to ballot. VI. C 2012 Nationals Date Doug proposal Thursday 5/10 Fields Available for IPO Practice, Possible Seminar Thursday/Friday Friday 5/11 UDC Breed Survey, Fields Available for IPO Practice, possible WAC Test (?), Saturday 5/12 - IPO Trial (Linda Kye, Chair) Sunday 5/13 ZTP Monday 5/14 - AM - Temperament Test PM - Conformation Show 1 (ZTP judge to judge this show) Tuesday 5/15 - AM - OB Trial 1 (Pam Burns, Chair) PM Conformation 2 Wednesday 5/16 OB Trial 2 Discussion: Beth: I'm sorry to be a PITA about this, but when I first suggested changing OB to Weds. that was the day the breed survey was scheduled. It doesn't make sense to me to have ONLY OB on Weds., doubt we'll get many staying over for it. so, if that is our option, I would rather change it back to Mon and Tues. Will check with Pam on this, also. But what do others think? Chris: I am not sure it will make a difference to move it. Tuesday might be late enough ending that most will leave on Wed anyway. The OB trial could be over in 2 hours. One OB judge can do both shows. I'd leave it. Doug: I don't think the schedule has to be set in stone and every little change must be appvoed by the BOD. The only things that must be set are that the IPO Trial Must be on a Weekend. The ZTP MUST be

on a Weekend. I want the ZTP judge to judge Conformation 1. Therefore, the only way this works is to have the IPO Trial on Saturday (we can expand to Friday if necessary), the ZTP on Sunday, Conformation 1 on Monday. I am fine with flexibility with the other events and will be glad to work with the event chairs to accommodate. Beth: I move we approve the dates of May 10 to May 16, 2012 for the UDC National at Purina Farms, Linda Kye Second. Linda Kurz requested dates for Nationals be put on a ballot. VI. D Team Captain Approve Erynn Lucas as captain of the UDC team. She will solicit and organize the entries. I will send her bio as soon as I receive her complete information. She has bred and titled several working Dobermans. Erynn's bio was posted to newboard Chris I will only be in favor of approving her as a team captain for this year's AWDF. A Team Captain should be chosen annually. I am wondering if she was thought to be nominated for AWDF Chair. That is a different position, and can be kept for several years. I thought Erynn is AWDF Chair and not captain?? Can we please clarify that? Linda Kurz Change to approve Erynn as chair. We need a motion. Doug matson made Motion to approve Erynn Lucas as the AWDF Chair; Wendy Seconded Linda requested this move to a ballot. VI. E Changes to AWDF Entry Rules Chapter 8 of the Admin Manual, Section III (Additional requirements for the AWDF Team Challenge) item D (Entry Procedure) now reads: D. Entry Procedure 1. Exhibitors must send a hard copy letter of intent (email notices are not acceptable) to the UDC AWDF Chair (or the designee) postmarked by the deadline published on the UDC website, indicating the level they for which they wish to compete and the including the following: a) complete contact information for the owner, including home phone, and cell phone if applicable, and current email address if applicable. b) the dog s name and titles, along with a copy of the dog's UDC registration; c) a copy of the dog s scorebook; d) a copy of the owner s UDC membership card; e) handler s shirt/jacket size. 2. If the Chair has not received letters of intent for a full team by the deadline noted only for the levels that have not been filled). The selection of individuals to complete the team is at the discretion of the AWDF Chair ONLY.

The full entry fee must be paid by check payable to United Doberman Club. The closing date for entries will be posted on the AWDF website and on the UDC website. 4. The UDC AWDF Committee Chair will submit the UDC team entries to the AWDF Trial Chairperson by the closing date for the competition. Changes: Delete Items 1 and 2 Item 3 will now read: 3. The owner or handler must submit a completed entry form with entry fee to the UDC AWDF chair no later than 2 weeks prior to the AWDF host club entry closing date. The full entry fee must be paid by check payable to United Doberman Club. The closing date for entries will be posted on the AWDF website and on the UDC website.
