The number of members in the band was between 30 and 50. If they were to march in rows of 5, there would be 3 extra members. If they were to march in rows of 8, there would be 6 extra members. The band finally disbanded out of frustration. How many members were in the marching band? Math Word Problem 2 My sister and I caught between 55 and 85 cockroaches for lunch. We wanted to bake some cockroach pizzas. We had a problem. We could not equally distribute the cockroaches among our pizzas. If we were to put 7 cockroaches in each pizza, there would be 2 extra cockroaches. If we were to put 9 cockroaches in each pizza, there would be 7 extra cockroaches. I killed them with a lethal bug spray and arranged them in groups of 8. However, there were 3 left over. So I arranged them in groups of 9. There were 2 left over. How many fleas did I have?

Math Word Problem 5 Some evil robots caught between 20 and 50 humans for dinner. However, they got into a fight when they had to divide the humans. If each robot were to get 6 humans, one robot would be short of 5. If each robot were to get 5 humans, there would be 3 extra. So how many humans did the robots catch? Math Word Problem 6 A father bought less than 50 mystery books for his kids. The kids did not know how to share their books because if each kid took 7 books, there would be 5 left over. And if each kid took 8 books, one kid would be short of 1 book. The kids burnt the books and decided to play outside. How many books did the father buy?

Math Word Problem 7 Some diabolical math teachers died and went to hell. Some devils were assigned by Satan to tickle the teachers to death. There was a problem because if each devil was given 8 teachers, there would be 6 left over. If instead, each devil was given 9 teachers, one devil would be short of 3. How many math teachers were there? Math Word Problem 8 Fred had some pet crocodiles. He wanted to feed the pet crocodiles with some fried chickens. He had a problem because if he gave each crocodile 7 fried chickens, there would be 1 fried chicken left over. If he were to give each crocodile 8 fried chickens, one crocodile would be short of 6. How many fried chickens did he have?

Math Word Problem 9 Damien paid a farmer $375 for 3 cows and 4 horses. Each horse cost 3 times as much as a cow. How much did he pay for the 4 horses? Math Word Problem 10 A snake charmer's snakes died in an accident. So he went to a pet shop and bought 5 pythons and 6 cobras for $945. Each cobra cost 5 times as much as a python. How much did he pay for the 6 cobras?

Math Word Problem 11 My dilapidated castle was haunted by a family of vicious vampires. To solve that pesky problem, I bought 7 crosses and 5 stakes from Dr Van Helsing. I paid $756 to that good doctor. If each stake cost 7 times as much as a cross, how much did I pay for the 5 stakes? Math Word Problem 12 Last month, a father bought 3 dolls and 2 toy trains for his kids for a total cost of $147. Each train cost 9 times as much as a doll. This month, he bought 4 toy trains and 7 dolls. How much did he pay for them this month?

Math Word Problem 13 A gibbon and a baboon have 75 rotten bananas together. The gibbon and a chimp have 141 rotten bananas together. The chimp has thrice as many bananas as the baboon. How many bananas does the chimp have? Math Word Problem 14 Ali Baba and Aladdin have a total of 665 flying camels. Aladdin and Sinbad have a total of 1007 flying camels. Sinbad has 2 1/2 times as many camels as Ali Baba. How many more camels than Aladdin does Sinbad have?

Math Word Problem 15 When I entered my bedroom last night to go to bed, it was crammed with elephants, rhinos and hippos playing Monopoly. There were altogether 1131 elephants and rhinos there. The total number of elephants and hippos was 1461. If there were 3 1/2 times as many hippos as rhinos, what was the total number of rhinos and hippos? Math Word Problem 16 I wanted to take part in a wrestling contest. So my dear aunt, who is a witch, made a strength potion for me. She threw some bats, iguanas and rats into a huge boiling cauldron and stirred it vigorously. As I was bored, I counted them. The total number of unlucky bats and iguanas was 2863. The total number of bats and rats was 8057. There were 3 1/3 times as many rats as iguanas. How many more rats than bats were there?

Math Word Problem 18 A poodle had twice as many fleas as a bloodhound. 351 fleas crossed over from the poodle to the bloodhound when a nasty boy set fire to its tail. Now the two mangy dogs have the same number of fleas. How many fleas does the poodle have now?

When they came back home, they found that Anna had bought 4 times as many useless dresses as Hannah. When Anna gave Hannah 63 dresses, they both had the same number of dresses after that. How many dresses did Anna have in the beginning? Math Word Problem 20 I had 6 times as many sharks in my bathtub as in my aquarium. But when the sharks in my bathtub devoured my unfortunate grandfather while he was taking a bath, I decided to transfer 895 sharks from the bathtub to the aquarium. Now the bathtub and the aquarium have an equal number of sharks. How many sharks are in the aquarium now?
