Directions to the Halifax County Show from Rocky Mount or anywhere south of Rocky Mount: Via Interstate 95 North: Take I-95 North to Exit 168. Take a right at the top of the exit ramp. Follow Hwy 903 toward Halifax for about 3 miles. You will see a sign for Halifax County Horse and Livestock Arena on the left (at the corner of Dog Pound Road). Turn left onto Dog Pound Road and take the gravel driveway immediately on the right. Via Highway 301 North: Follow 301 North until you get to the town of Halifax. Turn left onto NC-125 N /NC-903 N (at stop light-you will cross railroad tracks). Continue on Hwy 903 approximately 2 miles. CONSENT, RELEASE, AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY HALIFAX COUNTY LIVESTOCK SHOWS (To be signed by each participant) I am the parent/guardian of the minor child named below ( the participant ) and am fully competent to sign this agreement. I understand that the Participant's request to participate in the Halifax County Livestock Shows has been approved. I understand that the activity involves various physical activities, including, but not limited to, contact with animals, and that there is a risk of injury associated with such activities. I understand the nature of the activity and my child's participation therein: I have explained these things to the Participant and his/her participation is both willing and voluntary. The Participant is in good health, and deemed able to participate in the activity. In addition, the Participant has adequate health insurance necessary to provide for and pay any medical costs that may arise as a result of injury to the Participant. In consideration of the Participant's being permitted to take part in the Halifax County Livestock Shows, the Participant and I assume all risks of such participation, such risks including but not limited to, (a) accidents and/or collisions with fixed or moving objects, animals, or persons; (b) hazards caused by equipment failure; and hazards caused by inadequate safety equipment. I further agree that neither NCSU nor its employees, officers, trustees, or agents shall be liable for any claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or in any way connected with the Participant's participation in the activity, specifically including, but not limited to liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action relating to bodily injury (including death) and property damage suffered by the Participant. Therefore, on behalf of the Participant, the parents/guardians of the Participant, and the heirs and assigns of all the foregoing, I do hereby forever release and discharge NCSU, as well as its trustees, officers, employees, and agents from all such liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action. With the activities having been explained to me, and all of my questions answered to my complete satisfaction, I consent to the Participant's participation in the Halifax County Livestock Shows and accept the facilities, premises, supervision, and equipment use in connection therewith; fully aware of the activities and risks that may be involved. I execute this consideration fully intending for myself, for the participant, and for the Participant's family, estate, heirs, administrators, personal representatives, or assigns to be bound by the same. GENERAL RULES 1. Please have entry forms completed in full. Incomplete forms may result in ineligibility to compete. 2. Entry fees and forms should be received no later than Saturday-August 12, 2017. Checks should be made payable to Halifax County 4-H Livestock Club. Entry forms and entry fee should be mailed to Halifax County 4-H Livestock Club, 363 Williams Farm Road, Halifax, NC 27839. 3. Exhibitors may show a maximum of two animals in each species/category. If an exhibitor has more than one animal in a class, the second animal must be shown by a junior approved by the Director. Adults are not eligible. 4. All animals must meet North Carolina health requirements. Unhealthy animals will be excluded from competition at the discretion of the show director. 5. Due to the risk of foreign animal disease, any exhibitor, or any exhibitor whose family member or visitor to the farm, has traveled internationally during the 14 days prior to animal check-in, should voluntarily withdraw their animals from the show and not attend. 6. The Director reserves the right to exclude from competition any animal that is not properly halter broken, cannot be controlled by the exhibitor, or obviously appears unhealthy. 7. Organizers of the Lenoir County Livestock Show are in no way liable for the transfer of disease associated with the show. 8. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding, watering, and caring for their animals while the animals are on the show premises. 9. All decisions by the judge are final. 10. The Show organizers reserve the right to add, cancel, or combine classes. 11. Questions not covered in these regulations will be ruled upon by the Show Committee. 12. Exhibitors and/or their immediate family members found cheating, misrepresenting, or participating in fraud or deception or acting in an un-sportsmanship like manner, shall be disqualified and possibly barred from future competitions. 13. The show is open to exhibitors ages 18 & under as of January 1. 15. Monetary prizes will be awarded based on the number of show entries.
ADDITIONAL RULES HEIFERS 1. The Heifer show is a part of the East Carolina Showmanship Circuit. In order to be eligible for awards for that circuit the exhibitor must also know and abide by the circuit regulations. 2. The show will begin at 2:00 p.m. All animals and exhibitors must arrive between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 3. Showmanship will be divided into three categories: Junior (9-11), Intermediate (12-14), and Senior (15-18). Showmanship will begin at 9:00 a.m. 4. Exhibitors need not own the animals, however, NC State Fair rules apply regarding training of heifers. 5. The classes will be determined by age. All heifers should be of the correct age to be eligible to show at the State Fair in that same year. MARKET LAMBS 1. The market Lamb show is a part of the East Carolina Showmanship Circuit. The Show will begin at 10:00 a.m. All animals must be weighed in between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. 3. Showmanship will be divided into three categories: Novice (8 & under), Junior (9-13), and Senior (14-18). 4. Exhibitors must own lambs a minimum of 30 days prior to the show. 5. Lambs must be wethers or ewes. No rams. 6. Lambs must be under one year of age (first set of permanent teeth not present) to be eligible to show. Classes will be determined by weight. 7. All lambs must be ear tagged with a Scrapie tag before arriving at the show.
