The Lost Kittens Tom loved animals. He had two dogs and a cat at home, and he also wanted to get a bird. His mum told him he had enough pets to care for. Tom was on his way home and saw a black kitten hiding under a tree. The kitten looked very young and very scared. Tom decided to take the kitten home. Tom, what do you have there? mum asked. I found it under a tree in School Street, said Tom. It doesn t have any tags so I thought I better bring it home. Mum got the kitten some milk and something to eat. The next day, Tom was playing in the park in front of his house and under a bench he found another kitten! Tom took that kitten home too. Tom, there is no way you can keep these kittens! said mum. We will take them to the animal shelter so someone else can give them a good home. Tom was sad that he had to give up the kittens. Tom and his mum took the kittens to the shelter the next day. The vet checked them to make sure they were healthy. Just then, a little girl called Amy and her mum came into the shelter and spotted the kittens. Those are my kittens! shouted the girl. Her mum said they must have come out through the small hole in the fence. The girl and her mother thanked Tom for taking good care of the kittens. Tom felt so much better knowing that the kittens were going to be safe and in a good home. The girl s mother fixed the fence so the kittens would not get out again. The girl named one of the kittens Tom. Tom often went to Amy s house to visit the kittens and play with them.
