Over 3,000 since 1999 Rescuing, Rehabilitating, Nurturing, Training, & Healing Abused, Abandoned and Neglected German Shepherds & German Shepherd mixes for Adoption in MD, D.C, Northern VA and southcentral PA. Message from the President: Hello, I take great pleasure in announcing that in 2013 we had 251 adoptions of our dogs into loving homes. The need for us to continue to find homes for these surrendered, stray, or abused dogs is great. Each dog that we place is a life saved. As much as we wish, we can not save each and every dog that deserves a life, but we will work tirelessly to place as many as we can. Our ability to do these rescues comes from the generous efforts of our volunteers, who foster, show case, walk, transport, screen adopters, and many other functions critical to running our rescue. We are also fortunate to have the generous support from our donors and sponsors without whom we would be unable to provide medical care, lodging, etc. for our dogs. I am hoping that we will have another successful year and will find great homes for the dogs that come into our care. Please accept my heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything that you do to help our critical mission. Sadly his adopter unexpectedly passed away leaving Chris with no family or anyone to care for him. It is obvious that Chris was very much loved and well cared for by his person. He needs to lose a few pounds, but diet and exercise will fix that. He appears to be in very good health, does not seem to have any joint issues that were seen on exam. He is very friendly and enjoys everyone he meets. He has some obedience training, and is good with other dogs and children, but he does not like cats. Chris is looking for a family and home where he can live out the rest of his life. A comfy bed, good

Liberty - Learn to Ski or Snowboard Package (over $180 value) It is going to be a great day! Stay tuned... Events and Meet & Greets are subject to change, so please check our Website www.magsr.org and/or Facebook page MAGSRPUPS for updates. Life is short, play with your dog! Alex & Barbara Event and Meet & Greet Coordinators Fostering Want to help but you are not sure how? If you are an approved adopter you are one step closer to fostering. Fostering is a rewarding way to help dogs that have just lost their home and their family. Some dogs come from loving families who fell upon financial hardship. Some come to us from shelters and have never been shown attention or love. Not only does fostering help MAGSR with kenneling costs, it helps prepare the dog to succeed in a home. Fostering can be a very rewarding experience and what better way to show your support then welcoming a foster dog into your home while he or she awaits their "furever" home? With dogs in foster, there is so much more they can learn that will better prepare them for their new home. It also helps MAGSR place them into a new home with more information about the dogs behaviors and needs. We would like to have fosters for all our dogs but the fact is we just don't have enough fosters. For dogs that come to us due to no fault of their own and find themselves in a kennel situation it's very heartbreaking. They are already confused as to why they are no longer with their family and they really deserve and would benefit from a foster home. Even though a foster home is not their home or their family they will quickly adapt to their new surroundings. If you would like to help, please visit our web site and fill out a foster application. Want more information about fostering? Contact us at membership@magsr.org. Our dogs thank you. food, leisurely strolls, curled up by your side and lots of love are all in order for this boy. Please consider a senior when looking to adopt, they make wonderful companions. Click here: Senior Fund Thank You for your support! Please go to www.magsr.org * Sponsor one of our dogs! * View dogs to foster or adopt! * Donate to our Senior Fund! MAGSR and Amazon Go to our website and place your Amazon orders through our link. MAGSR will receive 5% of your purchase. This 5% is NOT added on to your bill but based upon your purchase. Just go to our website, and click and shop. Check out our other affiliated stores. This is a simple and easy way to donate to save lives. Message from the Board of Directors Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm". We agree with Ralph. It is through our volunteer's enthusiasm that so far in 2014 we have successfully placed 69 GSD's with their forever families. Without the dedication of our hard working enthusiastic volunteers, this would not have been possible. Volunteers are the heart and soul of MAGSR and we are always in need of more volunteers to help with our mission of saving the lives of GSD and GSD mixes. Did you know you can volunteer with MAGSR and never leave your home? That's right, there are

several ways you can volunteer and help MAGSR right from home. We always need volunteers to make reference calls, post adoption follow up calls, updates to our website, and the list goes on and on. Even if you just have one hour a week, you can help MAGSR. Please consider volunteering. One hour can make the difference in the lives of so many GSD's who are counting on us for a better tomorrow. If you would like more information about volunteering, please contact our membership committee at the following address: membership@magsr.org. We hope you will consider joining the MAGSR team and helping us achieve our goal of giving a better life to GSD's in need. Go team MAGSR! Sincerely yours, Hendrick Hendrick is one of the most personable and charming dogs to come into our rescue. He touched the heart of everyone he met. Unfortunately, he has a strong case of separation anxiety, which resulted in him being returned twice. Caroline, Leigh, Kate, Debra and Jean The Mid Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue Board of Directors MAGSR did not give up on this special boy. Hendrick was sent to a board and train with one of our trainers that had experience in dealing with separation anxiety. We then looked for a family where there was someone home most of the day or could bring him to work with them. Luckily Hendrick has found his forever family and he is doing extremely well in his new home. MAGSR has made similar efforts for other dogs, and will continue to do so.
