Q&A with ALFIE ALFIE answers questions about his life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Sociable, ambitious, adventurous, determined, open-minded. Describe your strong sides: I am very hard-working and have had no problem working 70 hours a week or putting in the hours for academic success. I have very ambitious goals, and even if I m not sure that I will reach them, I always give it everything I have. I think I am also good at finding balance (in most situations). For example, in college I work hard to maintain my grades but I also make sure I have time for friends and social life. I have always had good grades and I had my I.Q. tested to be 122. I don t believe intelligence can be quantified so simply, but I still see it as noteworthy. I like the outdoors and being active. Describe your weak sides: I am working to improve my long term patience. I tend to expect immediate results with whatever I m doing, and that s not always how things work. I also tend to jump between things without completely finishing them. What is your marital status? In a relationship. Do you have any children? No. Which types of sport do you play or have played? Skiing, baseball, soccer. List which musical instruments you play or have played: None. Religion: Raised Christian, but still pondering it. How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? 8-10. Do you eat healthy? Always. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? Sometimes. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? None. Which countries have you visited: United States. Describe the best holiday you have had: Christmas has always been my favorite holiday, and most years after the regular festivities we go on a skiing trip with my cousins. What do you like the most about your own country: There is a vast diversity of environments and people in the United States. It is called a cultural melting pot for a reason. I have travelled across the country a few times, and going between places so quickly makes the difference more apparent. I also value the ideology of opportunity that is associated with the USA. Which other types of sports are you interested in? Surfing, basketball. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: Socializing with friends, hiking, kayaking, biking, building, gardening, cooking, drawing.

Q&A with ALFIE - continued ALFIE s dreams, favorites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? The former U.S. President Richard Nixon, for his honesty and integrity. What are your goals in life? I want to have satisfaction and happiness with myself and my life. After I graduate college, I want to have a happy family and a fulfilling career, and ownership over a big company. What were your childhood dreams: When I was 8 years old, I loved dinosaurs and wanted to be an archeologist. When I was 12, I decided I wanted to be a business owner, like my father, and that dream has been evolving ever since. Which values do you rank the highest? Family. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? I can t think of any one experience, but every day is a new experience that has shaped, and continues to shape, who I am. Which was your greatest experience or moment? I have been a skier since I was a toddler, and I love it. I have always enjoyed a challenge, and when I was 15, my father, my uncle, one of my cousins and I went to climb a tall mountain during a ski trip. At the bottom looking up at the massive mountain, I was a mixture of nervous and excited. It was a clear day and we were all carrying large backpacks with our skis, poles, boots, and everything else strapped to them. I will always remember how beautiful the dark green pines were against the slate grey rock and snow. As we ascended, the pines got smaller, giving way to small outcroppings of rock and grass once we were above the tree line. When we finally reached the top, I was exhausted, but felt incredibly accomplished and full of anticipation for dropping into the steep snow bowl and skiing down. Looking out from the tallest mountain in the region and knowing that I climbed all the way there was one of the greatest moments in my life so far. Happiest: In high school, I had a huge crush on a beautiful girl who I connected with immediately, but I was too afraid to tell her. Almost every day for a year and a half, we would walk around the school and talk. One day, we were walking as we always did, and unexpectedly, she told me that she loved me. I have never been as happy as I was at that moment. Funniest: I was on a road trip with my girlfriend, and we decided to stop at rest stop with a wooded park and benches. There was a man with a dog on a bench near our car. A semi truck then pulled up in front of us with a small monkey sitting on the dashboard. The dog started barking relentlessly, to the point where the truck driver yelled to the dog owner to control his dog, which led to a heated argument. The driver yelled that if the man wouldn t quiet his dog, he would send his monkey (less than a foot tall and also acting wildly) after the dog. The dog owner laughed and exclaimed that his dog would eat the monkey, so the semi driver took a tiny baseball bat out of the glove box, gave it to the monkey, and opened the window. The monkey lunged out of the window, and within seconds, the monkey was on the dog s back. The dog sprinted into the woods with the monkey clinging to its back. The dog owner ran after his dog, and less than 5 minutes later, we saw the monkey running across the field and leap back into the window of the truck. I never have, and most certainly never will, see anything as insane and unexpected as that. Scariest: I was swimming in the ocean and looked up to see a large black figure with a fin protruding 20 feet away. It turned out to be a dolphin, but my heart stopped when I first saw it. Proudest: When the president of the last company I worked for told me that I would do great things one day. Most dangerous: Skiing on unmarked back trails. I am much less reckless now, but still enjoy the challenging trails. Greatest sorrow: Lost love. What is your favorite color? Blue, it reminds me of the summer sky and the ocean. What is your favorite animal? Dogs, they are friendly, loyal, and man s best friend. What is your favorite kind of food? Grilled salmon and sweet potatoes. What is your favorite kind of music: Rock, metal and country music. What is your favorite kind of car: Lamborghini Gallardo, because owning one is a symbol of achievement and success. What is your favorite kind of pet: Dogs, they make people happy. What is your favorite time of year: Summer. What is your favorite book and/or author: The Great Gatsby, by the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald. What is your favorite movie and/or director: Forrest Gump, The Godfather.
