The training curse prvided participants with the knwledge and skills t carry ut rdent and cat eradicatin prjects. The training is based n the Resurce Kit, which is a practical guide t assist prject managers in develping and implementing rdent and cat eradicatin prjects n islands. The Kit prvides best practice prcesses, methds and lessns learned as, well as supprting tls (Guidelines, templates, references etc). Participants f the training gave scres f 100% t questins abut knwing the PII Prject Prcess fr eradicatin prjects and verall pinin f the training. Hw t Eradicate Rdents and Cats n Islands INTRODUCTION Over the past decades, the eradicatin f rdents and cats has becme an established management apprach in the fight against the impacts f invasive species n island bidiversity. The PII Resurce Kit prvides prject managers with a systematic apprach t planning and implementing rdent and cat eradicatin prjects n islands in the Pacific. The need fr the Resurce Kit came frm PII's experience wrking n invasive species prjects with Pacific agencies. Because invasive species management is a relatively new tl fr island restratin in the Pacific, a cmmn cnstraint fr agencies was access t an authritative and cnsistent prcess and a surce f infrmatin t effectively address the cmplexity f invasive species management. T address this need PII, in cllabratin with wrld leading eradicatin experts, develped a stepwise prcess and supprting tls t prvide prject managers with access t current eradicatin best practice. Use f the Resurce Kit will give Pacific agencies the ability t embark n their invasive species management prjects with greater cnfidence f achieving their desired island restratin gals. The training fcuses n training prject managers n hw t plan and implement rdent and cat eradicatin prjects using the PII Resurce Kit. PII invited eight prject managers frm seven different agencies frm arund the Pacific Regin t participate in the first Hw t eradicate rdents and cats frm islands Training Curse. This training was different frm future Hw t eradicate rdent and cats frm islands training, as it was a pilt. TRAINING COURSE PURPOSE AND OUTCOMES: Purpse 1: T train participants n hw t plan and implement rdent and cat eradicatin prjects using the PII Resurce Kit Outcmes Knw the principles that underpin the Resurce Kit Knw the PII Prject Prcess fr an eradicatin prject Knw the reasns and value fr each stage and step in the prcess Be able t use the Resurce Kit t lcate infrmatin and resurces t assist in cmpleting each step in the prject prcess Knw where t access further learning resurces and supprt Have a plan f where t frm here fr a prject Purpse 2: T test the training curse with participants wh are representative f the target grup.
