2 Background Continuous, heavy rainfall, for almoust two months, has resulted in extensive flooding in Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) The most affected villages are: Gunja, Rajevo Selo, Račinovci, Posavski Podgajci, Drenovci, Strošinci, Đurići The economic impact is enormous The Government is in discussion with the European Commission in order to secure European Union assistance for the affected region.

12 Deratisation First part finished conducted on area surrounding flooded area All farms, public areas,etc.. After water will retrieve from all flooded areas, deratisation will be conducted accordingly

14 Disinsection Ministry of Health - responsible for disinsection from the air and on the ground Area is usualy disifected every year due to problems with mosquitos

15 Veterinary checks Veterinary checks will be conducted in whole Vukovar Srijem county, with priority on 330 holdings, on which animals from flooded areas are placed Animal register is established containig list of holdings, animals gathered, contact details,.. Clinical examination of animals treatment if necessary Migrations are entered into databse

16 Animal health measures May 23 Draft of plan for measures to prevent occurence and protection from infectious and parasitic diseases of animals in flood-affected areas and areas where animals are temporarily housed Informative leaflet for farmers on Biosecurity measures Notification of mortalities Notification of any clinical signs (CSF) Imunisation against Antrax /not present in area for >10 years Farms/animals on flooded areas had favorurable epidemiological/health situation (only one herd with confirmed Enzootic bovine leukosis) Disease free status will be suspended on all 330 farms

17 Sustained Technical Assistance Programme Balkan Flood Assistance Missions in Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia June July 2014 The proposal is to assist Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia deal with the medium to long term consequences of the flood by deploying animal health and public health experts on the spot. They will carry out a risk assessment and develop an action plan addressing key animal health, food safety, public health and animal welfare issues.
