When our dear friend, Terry Huff, lost Danny Boy, he struggled to find a fitting final salute for his beloved dog. That's how The Departing Shot was born. All of us here at The Departing Shot knew that someday, when the time came, we would want to return our hunting dogs to the fields they loved. And, we wanted a memento to keep at home to remind us of the trails we traveled together. Today, The Departing Shot packages dog ashes in shotgun shells so that you can conduct your own Memorial Salute in honor of your dog. We also provide shell boxes and shotgun shell-shaped urns so you may keep the remainder of the ashes as a memorial to your friend of the field. The Departing Shot offers a variety of products to honor the memory of your dog. These products fall into two types: Memorial Salutes that help you scatter your dog's ashes across the fields you traveled together, and Commemorative Products that leave you with a wonderful reminder of your hunting buddy.
