On the topic of parking: there are a number of areas (opportunities) that are not fully exploited which are very near the park. 2. I believe that the opportunity for baseball for children is a valuable attribute of the park. 3. From time to time, parking choices present a safety concern. 4. I think the park is a very real financial asset to me. I think my neighbors have a similar bias. 5. The walking path surrounding the park perimeter is a valuable feature & is used often by folks of all ages open house

5 PUBLIC COMMENT SUMMARY OPEN HOUSE ZONE #2 PARKS Silver Creek Site Dead Man s Pond Trim broken trees in creek near bridge south Trim back foliage around creek area, especially the stuff left over from the ice storm We really need to have a post (or 2!) supplying dog walkers with scoop bags. Unfortunately, there are many dog walkers who don t pick up after their dogs. This leads to pollution and not a nice trail. The culvert is full of silt, it needs to be cleaned out I am noticing large trees growing by 11 th Street SW (by Silver Creek and Meeker Ditch) which will soon be huge (Alders, hazelnut) These need to be cut/managed Get the water to move Get the standing water moving Keep it the same, it s full of wildlife NO public allowed, fence off endangered area. Use fire (access) road for trail and fence the entire area. (Dead Man s Pond) should be a category I (wetland) according to state WAC code Please leave it as it is a wildlife area & green No fishing access, fence off area Any development will compromise wildlife Leave it natural you can t improve upon nature Keep the area natural limited access too many endangered species need the sanctuary (eagles, herons, turtles, etc.) Save the endangered area!!! And the western pond turtle! Dead Man s Pond concerns: pollution of pond, loitering (I) will legally engage any plan that has a potential negative effect on the water quality of the Puyallup watershed and ruin one of the only open spaces in this area Private ownership of the pond will join class action lawsuit if (the plan proposes) polluting the water supply open house open house 2 P a g e

Any development will pollute the pond with lawsuits to go with Our attorney has advised us to contact him if there is any attempted development of this area Concerns: development impacting pond eco-system; added runoff due to impervious surfaces; increased trespassing, crime and vandalism; traffic impacts; parking; garbage, parking lot drug deals, light pollution, security, speeding; after hours vagrants; decreased open space; property owner rights diminishing Leave it alone, let the pond be natural Entire neighborhood is united to bring legal action to any development of such a fragile area in the form of a singular and class action law suit Please have a look at the cottonwoods and maples growing along the property line (south of) 19 th Street SW. They have become a falling hazard and need to be taken down Do not mess with turtle (Mell) he wants no public access to this area Old growth is present western pond turtle is still present 30 wide city (right-of-way) at 19 th and 14 th we do not want a hiking path behind our home in the (right-of-way) that we have been maintaining for 40 years Broadening Puyallup watershed area would bring no positive benefit to any development, plus ruining the natural environment and animals would die The state wants to use this pond as an incubator site in conjunction with Woodland Pond to further the breeding of the western pond turtle. The owners of the pond are supportive of this idea Puyallup Tribe would be involved in inevitable pollution of Clarks Creek, Puyallup River and bay 3 P a g e

Jan 6, :59 PM 3 Overall very happy! Jan 6, :06 PM 4 Grassy areas stay pretty wet in Pioneer and Bradley Lake for a long time. Jan 5, :30 PM 5 The new pavilion serves Puyallup very well for the Farmer's Market and pancake breakfast, etc., and we love to picnic at Pioneer Park because it is a lovely open space inside the downtown and well-patrolled by the police. We need more open spaces just like it, and would love to see some abandoned residential lots become open space parks with benches and minimal maintenance required. The Rec Center would serve Puyallup better to run VERY LOW COST ($2 to $5) kids programs to increase its use and affordability; we were not able to afford programs for our children there when they were little. We had high hopes for Bradley Lake Park as a semi-wild area, but were very disappointed when it was developed with a playground and such. We would very much appreciate more wild areas with simply benches or tables for families who love to picnic or just enjoy the outdoors, and we are thankful for the Silver Creek project and its volunteers. 6 The river trail could use more rest stops and benches around the area, especially picnic tables. The trail around Bradley Lake Park is almost always full of litter. Most parks need more shaded areas in or around the play structures. 7 appear to be clean and well kept. Availability of garbage cans and frequency of emptying recepticles is an issue during busy times. 8 Parks are kept clean, especially considering the volume of people using them. Please, please, please put together a plan to provide for future expansion of gym capacity. We have very little capacity / user compared to other cities. We have nothing to offer the users in south end of the city. I am very much against the spray park idea. This is a lot of money for a very few hours/days where this facility is really used. Please distribute new money into facilities that will provide maximum usage to maximum users. 18 Well maintained and clean. Particularly impressed with how soon the parks are cleaned up following an event. 19 The grounds at Clark's Creek Park/Decoursey are well kept and clean. I do not use the bathrooms very often but when I have they seemed unequipped and unclean. I find the city parks on a whole very beautiful and accessible. The tiny Silver Creek property would benefit with a post, holding doggy bags for people walking their dogs through there. I've avoided it lately as people don't clean up after their dogs. 20 More bathrooms needed in Pioneer Park, don't make us go all the way into the library 21 ivy needs to be removed among the large riverwalk trail trees. During fishing season incredible amount of plastic debris in the river. I cleaned it, some fishermen claim to have cleaned, Trout Unltd people cleaned it, but it just comes back week after week. A program to help educate fishers to take their trash esp. fishing line and hooks with them when they leave would be great, as well as organized cleanups. If you make it happen, I'm there. The area has a history of being an area for fishing and feeding the ducks, both of which create issues for the park. Please consider removing the floating docks. They invite people to feed the birds and cause issues. The docks are ugly and do not fit in with the natural look of the setting. Also, consider promoting the area as a natural area for watching salmon and birds. 35 brown property doesn't need more fenced in gardens as private property. open space!!! Pioneer Park is could use more children's toys especially being right outside the library. Wildwood park is perfect just the way it is 62 Usually clean and kept up. Wildwood is beautiful but scary as well as up high in Clark Creek. A lot of drug use and used needles found in the area. Sad. 63 Bradley Lake Park is way too overcrowded to enjoy. Also, we really need a spraypark! 64 South Hill Little League needs more ball fields. It's sad that Puyallup Parks and Rec can't/won't help them out. 65 We frequent grayland and pioneer the most and find they are both nice and kept clean. 66 Park facilities vary greatly. The play equip at Pioneer is very old, as is the equip at DeCoursey. Wildwood park toys tend to retain water and gross moss/mildew quickly. Bradley Lake toys are great, but the park is crowded, so we often avoid it. We also like Clark's Creek park, but there are no shady places directly around the play structure. You have to sit away to find shade, which compromises supervision. Also, many parks have inadequate play surface (need gravel or chips replaced. They are too low and there are bare patches of ground visible.) Everthing is on the Hill, accessible mainly through Meridian and Shaw Road, a journey of miles for Valley floor residents 2 The dog park in puyallup is pathetic. We need a BIG off leash park like in Lakewood. Nice, grassy, and could easily be a part of Bradley Lake area. Trees, paths, fresh water...we need this. 3 We have noticed increased teen presence at Pioneer Park after the high school lets out in the afternoon, and it's often not the good kids who congregate there, sadly. 4 Bradley Lake Park is always ridiculously full of people. The parks near my house are mediocre at best, and not generally worth the walk. 5 Bradley lake park in particular is very crowded at times and does not have enough parking. Most of our parks are set up for small children. There are more jungle gyms than anything else. The biggest parks are mostly wooded. 11 The most crowded Puyallup park, Bradley Lake is way too crowded and big kids take over the play structures so I stopped taking my little girl there.
