If you are an existing collector, you will be pleased to see that The James Herriot Collection continues to go from strength to strength, the subject matter and humorous scenes inspired by the antics of famous vet s stories proving to be as popular as ever. 2 The James Herriot Studio Collection James Herriot became famous throughout the world for his books that captured the essence of life in England s Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s and 40s. The characters were portrayed with all their foibles and contradictions, their tight-fistedness and their generosity but, above all, their courage and gritty humour. Each of our fabulous, lifelike figurines, tells their own story and brings to life many of these characters from the tales of Britain s favourite vet James Herriot. A6862 PRUDENCE Height: 8.5cm Oh yes, Prudence has been naughty before but we have found a way of persuading her to move. A7940 PIP Height: 8.5cm You often see dogs running along a road but there was something about this one which made me slow down and take a second look. A8052 SPRING LAMBS All young animals are appealing but the lamb has been given an unfair share of charm A7938 EGGSTRA TREAT Height: 10.5cm Oh dear! It s one thing having an accident, another getting eggcited about it, but even worse when someone laps it up literally! A6863 BRAVE BOYS Length: 30.5cm It s the first time these young collie pups have ventured out and their first encounter with a mature Blackie Ram will test just how brave they are! A7935 UPSETTING THE APPLE-CART Most people take great measures to avoid upsetting the apple-cart, not this clever pig, however! A6519 CLOVER S NEW CALF I smiled. I never got tired of this the most rewarding thing in my veterinary life. Nice to see, isn t it, Ted. 3 A1861 PUPPY LOVE Height: 9.5cm Nothing is more fun than watching a young puppy seeking the attention of its mother. Playfulness and affections are very evident. A4621 NO PEACE Height: 9.0cm Although the older Border collie seeks refuge on the footstool, the Jack Russell Terrier pups hamper any idea of resting she may have. There s just no peace for the wicked! A5914 COME NO CLOSER Height: 9.5cm If animals could talk we know just what this Rough Fell ewe would say to these two collie pups who have wandered into the field. Judging by the body language, however, her message has been read loud and clear! A0602 FOUND SAFE It had been a long search that had covered a lot of ground. We knew the collie would find the missing lamb, it was just a question of how long it would take. A5915 IN A FLAP The hen and her chicks had found a comfortable place to settle in the farmer s wife s pansy display, when along came this collie pup. He was just trying to make friends, but when she noticed that one of her chicks was missing it put her all in a flap. A6864 LET S BE FRIENDS Height: 17.5cm Length: 19.5cm I often found a cosy nest of kittens with mother in the hay rack snuggled between bales of straw all stretched blissfully A6026 RIGHT OF WAY Length: 28.0cm Country lanes are the natural place for the farmer to move his Blackie ewes from one field to another, whilst the telephone box is the natural place for the neighbour s wife to catch up on the news! 4 A5905 CONTENTED Height: 8.5cm Well, it looks as though these two lucky weaners have had a real treat today! After being such greedy piglets there s just nothing for it but to have a little snooze and sleep it off! A5907 TROUBLE When there s a puppy, there s just no peace, and it looks as though there may be trouble ahead for these three kittens A4243 TWO AGAINST ONE Hello, hello, what have we here! our pup is thinking as he meets these two lambs for the first time after all, they are bigger than him and it is two against one! A4072 SPLIT DECISION Height: 13.5cm Up and over the style go the two collies in chase of a rabbit and a pheasant but now they have a dilemma which belongs to which? This calls for a split decision. A3327 JOCK S PRIDE LAMP Includes shade Height: 28.5cm Only available in the UK Jock takes life seriously, especially when it comes to looking after his five newly-arrived fluffy pups. A3703 MILKING TIME Height: 16.0cm Before milking parlours, the cows were milked out in the fields and the milker went to the cow, not the other way round. 5 A6514 NUGENT Height: 6.5cm today, a cardboard box occupied one corner, and inside I could see a tiny pig, standing on his legs, his forefeet resting on the rim, he was looking around appreciatively at his new home surroundings MARTHA A6516 (Light Sussex) A6643 (Rhode Island Red) Height: 10.5cm for the hens had grown tired of life under Tristan and decided that they would do better living off the country. They became nomads, ranging ever further afield in their search for sustenance MONTY A6739 (Brown & White) A6517 (Black & White) Height: 8.5cm as though recognising his name, the calf raised his head from the bucket and looked at us. It was a comic face wet muzzled, milk slobbered half way up his cheeks and dribbling freely from his mouth A7939 TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE Height: 8.0cm Double trouble these two might well be, but there can be no denying that nothing can beat two for the price of one. A6248 NEW FRIEND Height: 15.0cm Eager to meet a new friend, the new-born Clydesdale foal finally makes it up onto its feet for the first time albeit in a rather wobbly manner! A6518 MINSTREL A wonderfully heart-warming sight, as Minstrel, the Clydesdale foal, felt something land on his back and is straining to try and see what it is! HERBERT A6515 (White) A6738 (Black & White) Height: 8.5cm the farmer smiled. Oh that s Herbert. Poor little youth s mother won t have im at any price. 7 The Farmyard Collection The busy, seemingly chaotic, farmyard is the inspiration for this heart-warming collection of young animals and trainee farmers. Brought up together from birth, cats, dogs, rabbits, pigs and young children play amongst the buckets, logs, baskets and crates scattered around the yard and farmhouse kitchen. Away from the farmyard, technology and machinery have an important part in the work of every farm. Quad bikes and tractors alike help farmers to manage their stock and maintain their crops naturally all are fully researched by our designers to ensure accuracy down to the last wheel nut! Without a doubt our tractor collection will delight enthusiasts across the generations. Here our farmer is giving a lamb a little extra, under the watchful eye of its mother and his two collies. This charming scene could equally have been called meals on wheels! 8 Tractors A5894 TATTIE SPRAYING Length: 24.0cm Through the growing season our farmer sprays his potato crop two or three times to prevent blight from ruining his spuds. Having come into the field through a narrow gateway with the spray arms in the upright position, the farmer has to dismount his David Brown Tractor to lower them before making a start on the job in hand. A6349 TOP DRESSING Length: 35.0cm Encouraging an early flush of grass at the first sign of spring is the best chance a farmer has of getting his stock outside all the sooner after a long hard winter indoors, and the Ferguson TEF 20 and Vicon 500lb fertiliser spreader should make light work of it! 19 Birds Favourite British birds such as robins, owls and kingfishers with their brilliant plumage and quizzical expressions form the basis of our current bird collection. Perched in typical stances on branches, amidst reeds and flowers or beside the river bank, the birds vigilantly survey their surroundings. During the mating season (from late March to the end of April, or May) the male takes morning and evening walks along the same route throughout the woodland and scrub, and his distinctive call can be heard inviting the females to join him.
