3 JUDGES PROFILES Jorgen Billing - Denmark, FIFe I'm an International FIFe all breed judge. I took my first exam 1986 (Persian & Exotics) and my last part in 2011 (Shorthair). I started to breed Persians 1978 but now I dedicate my breeding life to the shorthair variety of the Persian - Exotic. My cattery name in FIFe is Star Wars that I have together with my wife - Annika Billing. We have bred several FIFe World Winners, European Champions & European Premiers. We have also bred FIFe Junior Winners and Distinguished Show merit cats and FIFe Scandinavian Winners. I also have/had Norwegian Forest Cats, Maine Coon and Siamese cats. Next breed that hopefully will be part of my life is a Devon Rex. I judge approximately 35 weekends per year (in Europe). I'm looking forward to the experience to judge here in Australia. Olga Komissarova Estonia, FIFe I am quite fresh All breed FIFe judge (I have finished my stages in the last category in November 2012). I started with the Persian and Exotics many years ago. I had solid and tabby color varieties. A bit later we got first colorpoint, and as a result first solid lilac cat. Laima (lilac female) is still with me, she is 15 years old. I was a breeder of Balinese too. One period of my life I spent with the family breeding British Shorthair, American Curls, Maine Coons, Scottish folds and Siberians. For several years I wrote articles for the local cat magazines. I work as a production planner in a big manufacturing company. I have a family with two kids. I am one of the show organizers in Estonia (and also Estonian cat breeders federation Felix secretary). One of my hobbies is cat grooming. In my free time (I hardly have it) I try to spend as much time as possible with my husband and children. Douglas Myers USA, CFA Originally from North Carolina, began his career in the Cat Fancy in New York City in 1983 as a result of his purchase of a neutered Japanese Bobtail, Rulew s Mac Gregor of Jo-Ni, as a birthday present for his partner Allen Scruggs. Mac Gregor became their first national winner in 1984 as well as the first Japanese Bobtail to receive a National win in Premiership. In conjunction with this first step, Douglas and Allen started Nekomo (ancient word for cat in Japanese) cattery by purchasing their lines from five distinctly different catteries. This initial breeding program proved to be quite successful: Nekomo became one of the top producers of Japanese Bobtails, with 15 National wins and many breed and regional wins, and many happy Japanese Bobtail owners. Nekomo currently holds the CFA record for the most national wins (five) in one show season. While preparing to qualify to enter the judging program and gaining experience in the longhair division, Douglas and Allen showed a black Persian who earned Best Cat in Premiership in the Southern Region and second Best Cat Nationally. In 1993, Douglas entered the judging program and obtained Allbreed status in He has judged all over the United States and the world including Russian, Japan, Austria, and Sweden. This is his second time to come to Australia having previously judged in Melbourne and Tasmania. He also judged the CFA World Show this past November in Columbus, Ohio. Douglas is presently President of Phoenix Feline Fanciers. He and Allen founded The Crafty Cat Club in North Carolina which produced many regional shows. He served as secretary and treasurer of Central Carolina Cat Fancier and was formerly a member of Empire Cat Club in New York and Garden State Cat Club in New Jersey. On a volunteer basis, Douglas and Allen, contributed their professional design expertise for multiple CFA annuals and Southern regional awards banquets, for CATS! New York show, and for the CFA Museum in Alliance, Ohio. If asked why Douglas chose to become a judge in the Cat Fanciers Association, his response would be, For the absolute thrill of handling so many beautiful cats throughout the world. To this day, it has always been his honor and his pleasure to handle and judge these special cats. Joanne Millar New Zealand, NZCF I first began showing with the New Zealand Cat Fancy a Seal Tortie Point Siamese in In 1985 I began breeding Siamese and Orientals under the Ramaltal Prefix and Burmese in For the past 17 years I have been breeding British Shorthairs and Scottish Folds under the successful prefix of Intrigue. I have actively promoted the delightful Scottish Fold throughout NZ and was fortunate enough to breed New Zealand first Gold Double Grand Champion Scottish Fold, Gld Dbl Gr Ch Intrigue Immortal Memory. Eight years ago my father died after a long battle with cancer and I joined my mother s prefix of Kirov and am now assisting her in breeding the beautiful Russian Blue. In 2008 I was fortunate enough to have bred and exhibited New Zealands Best other Shorthair Entire Cat, a British Blue male, Gld Dbl Gr Ch Intrigue Sir Larfalot. I have an extremely busy life, working full time as Plant Manager for a mining company and running a small boarding cattery along with my husband, Lindsay. My spare time is dedicated to our cats, our Bull Mastiff dog, my horse and our local Volunteer Fire Brigade of which I am a member. I have been on the Judges panel since 1989 and am an All Breeds Judge for the NZ Cat Fancy Inc. and have consistently accepted appointments Nationally as well as completing assignments in NSW, Queensland, Canberra, Victoria, Adelaide and Tasmania. I believe it is important to produce a professional result, which contributes to the shows success and enjoyment by exhibitors and spectators. Shows should be fun: entertaining, educational and interesting. I thrive on the professional challenge of judging the wide variety of cats on the show bench and it is a privilege to judge and enjoy the beautiful cats entrusted to me on show day. My aim when judging is to give an honest educated appraisal, and to be fair and consistent with all exhibits, and above all else to enjoy myself. 3

The veterinary surgeon shall order any cat to be removed from the show if, in his/her opinion, it is suffering from any infectious or contagious disease or has external parasites. Their decision in this regard will be final. Should the veterinarian reject one of an exhibitor s cats or kittens all the exhibitor s entries may be rejected. 18. If an adult male cat entered as an entire male is found to be monorchid or cryptorchid it will be disqualified. 19. If, during the course of the show, an exhibit should be found to be ailing or distressed through any cause, the Show Manager may at his/her discretion request that the exhibit be removed from the hall. 20. Curtains (if used) and a towel or blanket must be in cages prior to the commencement of judging. No other objects are allowed until judging is completed, except for devices used for warmth. Nothing in cages shall identify owner. 21. No foodstuffs are allowed in cages prior to and/or during judging but drinking water may be provided. 22. Litter trays may be provided by exhibitors. 23. Grooming of exhibits benched may be continued until exhibitors are requested to leave the judging area prior to judging. No sprays or powders used to groom exhibits are to be used in the show hall. Transgression will result in the disqualification of the exhibit. 24. Carry-boxes, etc. must be placed out of sight after the exhibit is benched. 25. Late arrivals will only be accepted at the discretion of the Show Manager but exhibits not in their cages when the judges are called to the floor will automatically be disqualified from that ring. 26. No cat or kitten may be removed from the vicinity of its cage without the permission of the Show Manager. 27. No exhibit may be removed from the hall before completion of prize-giving without the permission of the Show Manager. 28. The Show Committee reserves the right to amend prize lists and to alter judging assigments if necessary. 29. All exhibits at ACF (Inc.) shows are judged according to the Standards of the ACF (Inc.). All breeds and colours and patterns will be fully written. 30. The ACF (Inc.) show will contain the following sections for competition: GROUP 1: Birman, Exotic, Birman, Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, Persian, Ragdoll, Siberian, Turkish Van GROUP 2: Balinese, Foreign White, Foreign White Longhair, Oriental Shorthair, Oriental Longhair, Peterbald, Siamese GROUP 3: Other Shorthairs and, Cymric, LaPerm Longhair, Pixiebob Longhair, Scottish Fold Longhair, Scottish Longhair, Selkirk Rex Longhair, Somali and other breeds as listed in ACF Standards. GROUP 4: Companion cats EXPERIMENTAL/ASSESSMENT All new and developing breeds/varieties. 31. Desexed exhibits shall not compete against entire exhibits except where special regulations apply as in side classes such as eye colour, etc. or for Supreme Exhibit. For Top 5/10 Kittens, desexed and entire kittens will compete together. 32. Challenge and Award of Merit certificates will be awarded for Best Male, Best Female, Best Neuter and Best Spay in each colour (A.O.C. and non-pedigreed exhibits excepted or where special regulations apply see Rule 42) irrespective of the number of entries, provided the exhibits reach the required standard. Challenge and Award of Merit certificates awarded to Supplementary Register exhibits must be marked with the letters S.R.. However, Sub-register status will not be indicated on the judges slips. Companion Merit Awards will be allowed for Best Neuter and Best Spay Companion Cat. 33. A judge s decision on the merit of an exhibit shall be final unless such decision is contrary to the rules under which the show is conducted. Judges shall be empowered and instructed not to award any prize, Challenge or Award of Merit Certificate or Companion Merit Award to any exhibit which they consider is not of sufficient merit. The judge may award a second place and may withhold a prize altogether where the exhibits are not, in his opinion, of sufficient merit. 34. Any exhibit which is unable to be handled by the judge will not be judged. Any exhibit found to be sedated will be disqualified. If an exhibit behaves in an aggressive manner, or injures a handler, it will be marked UTH (Unable to be Handled) and disqualified from further competition in the show. If an exhibit is less aggressive but is unable to be taken from the cage to the judging table or be handled sufficiently to be effectively judged/assessed, it will be marked UTJ (unable to be judged) for that ring. 35. Officiating judges may enter exhibits in competition, but not judge their own exhibits. Such judges are excluded from conferring with judges of cats in sections in which they are exhibiting and from sitting on any panel including for Supreme Exhibit in the event that any exhibit owned by such judges should be presented to such panels. 36. Panel judging may be used at the discretion of the Show Committee. Panel should be of an odd number. 37. In the event of a split decision during panel judging, the panel will be instructed to determine between two of the exhibits, and then between the winner and a third exhibit and so on until and overall winner is established. 38. Any complaint regarding the management of the show must be made in writing to the ACF (Inc.) Secretary together with a fee determined by ACF (Inc,), within two days of the show. The fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld. 39. No cards or ribbons, other than those won at the show, may be displayed. 40. Supplementary register exhibits shall compete against full register exhibits in their appropriate classes if they are, or have been, part of an approved program aimed at producing cats of an established breed/variety and standard in the Open Classes where Challenges and Award of Merit certificates are awarded. Exhibits of an unrecognised variety (colour, marking, or coat quality) of an established breed shall compete in Open Classes for AOC/AOV exhibits. The proposed standard of points must be forwarded with the entry. Supplementary Register exhibits are eligible for Best of Breed/Variety and Best in Show Awards. 41. All cats entered for competition shall have all claws clipped. 42. Judges are instructed to ignore tattoo marks and other similar forms of identification (e.g. reaction to microchip insert) in show cats. 43. A list of all past Supreme Exhibit winners will be recorded in each national show catalogue. 44. It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure exhibits certification is correct before the show. 45. If a judge is of the opinion that colour or pattern is incorrect, and entry form is checked and error is confirmed to be by exhibitor, then that judge will withhold. 8 March
