1 Algebra 3 SAILS What is SAILS? SAILS Seamless Alignment Integrated Learning Support. SAILS is a program developed specifically for students whose ACT is 18 or less. Any student with an ACT score 19 or more is ineligible to register for the program. Why is SAILS important? All students entering college with an ACT of 18 or less are automatically placed in remedial math. Remedial courses do not count towards credit hours required for college graduation, but still cost $ and time (over half of students who enter college at the remedial level do not graduate). The first 5 modules of SAILS is the remedial math course students would take in college. Completing these modules will allow students to enter college without being placed in the remedial course as it is considered equivalent to scoring a 19 on the ACT math sub-score. There is a module available to students after completion of the first 5 modules called SAILS+. Completing SAILS+ will allow students to enter college at the College Algebra level and is considered equivalent to scoring a 21 on the ACT math sub-score. Completing SAILS/SAILS+ will save time and money for college. Completion also increases a student s probability of graduating college.
