International Collaborative Award 1,000,000 Euros were awarded jointly between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCD, The Faculty of Agriculture, UCD, Taegasc, and Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). This involved a number of scientists from each institution. The project was focused on improving sheep productivity through an understanding of the epidemiology of parasitic and other diseases in sheep and improving the nutrition and genetic merit of the local Awassi breed. Another important aspect was the upgrading of research capabilities of JUST so there would be the possibility of working more closely with Israel as a result of the Middle East Peace Process. The project ran from , but there are a number of collaborative studies still on-going, including research on hydatid disease. (5% - 50,000 Euros).
