1 Bull Terrier Club of South Australia Inc Championship Show Sunday, 20th March 2011 Bull Terriers Rain. You might expect in it Manchester but not in Adelaide in March! I know that some blamed me for bringing typical English weather with me, but trust me, cold English rain is so much more unpleasant! Rain does however have the same affect on writing notes, and unfortunately on my return to the UK I have found that many of the notes that I wrote in the pouring rain are now undecipherable, so much of my written critique is from memory and is my general impression of the dogs at the time rather than a fully detailed critique. I therefore apologise in advance for any errors and for lack of detail. My particular apologies to the Mini-exhibitors, I carefully chose my best movers from the Bull Terrier Classes and simply failed to do the same in the Mini s. It was only when I mentioned after the show how well some of the mini s moved and I was asked why I had not then put forward some to compete for best mover that the penny finally dropped. Again I must blame the rain for my lack of concentration I was disappointed with some of the handling; when I asked many of the exhibitors to turn their dogs round (so I could see them facing uphill) it seemed to through many into panic and they did not know quite what to do!. My advice to exhibitors is to look carefully how the ring is set out and try and select either a flat spot to stand on or at least stand uphill. Most Bull Terriers look awful when facing downhill. Without doubt the rain also had a detrimental affect on some of the exhibits; some of the animals, particularly in the Mini classes did not like the wet weather at all and made it clear that they would rather been in the warm and dry. Overall I thought the quality of the very best Bull Terriers was very high. However the gap between the top few and the rest was perhaps greater than on previous occasions I have judged in your country. With regard to the Mini s although many were oversized only one or two were so big that there size became a determining factor, and certainly my winners were true Bull Terriers in Miniature Baby Puppy Dog We don t show puppies less than 6 months in the UK and with Bull Terriers developing at such different rates I consider it very much what we call Pot Luck Nevertheless it is extremely interesting to go over the babies and I will watch their futures with interest 1. Brasshead Kennels Brasshead Kimbo Slice (Evildouer Kung Fu Panda x Ch Brasshead Bear Witch) Quality Puppy, with a very good head and expression. Well made with a good lay of shoulder, a good neck and a straight front with nice feet and good bend of stifle Very promising. 2. Brasshead Kennels Brasshead Fu Man Chu (Evildouer Kung Fu Panda x Ch Brasshead Bear Witch) Litter brother to 1, and very similar in type. Even more hind angulation, and a touch heavier bone but a little less firm in topline 3. Sutcliffe s Jacamar Dream Time (Delphinius Big Daddy Cool x Jacamar Miss Jackson) Very substantial heavyweight with a nicely shaped head, just lacking a little in width. Short deep body short back and very heavy, round bone. Minor Puppy Dog 1. Humphreys Bullroy BK Johnny (Bullroy Rok Posta x Bullroy Baggy Britches) Brindle. Very sound and well made throughout with an excellent profile and a lovely straight front. Showed extremely well and moved completely parallel both ways. Res CC 2. Starstruck Kennels Starstruck Charro (Rodeo Rider the Joker x Starstruck Miss Presley) Another well constructed brindle with a tiny eye and well placed ears giving him an excellent expression. Undershot and needs to firm up in topline. Puppy Dog - Junior Dog 1. Humphreys Bullroy Sumrnuts (Bullroy Urban Icon x Bullroy Gunnedoo) Very substantial and powerful quality white dog. Super head, completely filled up with, if anything, rather too much roman finish. Tiny eye, lovely heavy bone and an excellent neck and shoulder. Deep, well sprung ribs and a short firm topline. Not the greatest of movers, he is nevertheless a top quality dog of great type, but I would like to see him when he is well muscled and looses his puppy fat. CC and Best dog. Runner up in show

2 2. Ely s Datoneis Big Ben (Shirvin Nostra Darmus x Hulia Dinka) Tall and upstanding Black/Brindle. Very sound throughout. Very good head neck. Short body and well shaped bodylines. Not the greatest of hindquarters yet he moved with drive and reached out well 3. Trahern Kennel s Trahern Bullet Proof ( Trahern Mama s Boy Randy x Bullromanose Lanebeachly) Very Nicely made white with a well shaped body and a nicely shaped head. Lovely long neck. A very heavily ticked coat and an undershot mouth made him rather uncompetitive in this class Intermediate Dog 1. Frith s Hulia Watutsi (Shirvin Eldorado Man x Hulia Cha Cha Cha) Well balanced Black Brindle with a good head. Nicely laid shoulder and a good length of neck. Eye rather too deep set. His virtue is his movement which was with controlled, with drive and parallel both coming and going Best Mover in show. State Bred Dog 1. Carter and Sutton s Barkinot Nitrous Oxide (Ch Sartorial Backstreet Boy x Trahern Legally Blonde) Very Shapely and elegant brindle. Lovely bodylines well shaped with good tuck up. Long elegant and well shaped hindquarters. A little upright in shoulder and lacking in type. 2. Brasshead Kennels Brasshead Robin Hood (Ch Laundry Hoodlum x NZ Ch Charlemagne Kause I Said ROM) Tall terrier type white dog. Well shaped head, if a little narrow. Beautiful front, with tucked in elbows and nice tight feet. Shade light in bone. Shapley bodylines. Australian Bred Dog Class Eleven Open Dog 1. Humphrey s Bullroy Rok Posta ( Bullroy Reco x Bullroy Dream Catcher) Brindle very well made masculine dog. Correct bite but with rather odd, thin canines. Very good head filled up and turned over. Very shapely and well angulated hindquarters. Would like a shade more bone. Neutered Dog Baby Puppy Bitch 1. Frith s Hulia Hana Hema (Datoneis Big Ben x Hulia Ashanti) Very promising well made Bl/brindle, well balanced throughout and not overdone in any way. Very sound and moved accordingly. 2. Campbell s Brasshead Bewitched (Evildouer Kung Fu Panda x Ch Brasshead Bear Witch) Litter sister to 1 & 2 in the equivalent dog class and another quality puppy of similar type (what a lovely litter!) Outstanding profile and short sturdy body. Needs to be taught to carry her tail down! 3. Trahern Kennel s Sirram Kinder Surprise (Sirram Roman Emperor x Ch Trahern Red Door) Lovely showy bitch of very high quality. Excellent filled up head. Showed extremely well. Plenty of breed type, unfortunately she is significantly undershot. Minor Puppy Bitch 1. Humphreys Bullroy BK Malibu (Bullroy Rok Posta x Bullroy Baggy Britches) Very well made quality white puppy. Very good straight front, rather narrow throughout and uncoordinated on the move. Needs plenty of time 2. Healand s Revhead With Out a Doubt (Delphinius Big Daddy Cool x Revhead No Doubt) Substantial white bitch with a very good head; egg shaped and smooth. Nice eye but her floppy ear rather spoils her expression. Quite sound throughout, moved particularly well behind

3 Puppy Bitch 1. Healand s Shirvin Voodoo Doll (Ch Alunday Hoodlum x Shirvin Nectarofthegods) Tri colour bitch and like the curates egg is good in parts. Very good head, filled and turned, nice long neck and good straight front. Adequate bone. Poor topline and hindquarters. Moved poorly. 2. Fox s Azonax Rosie O Grady (Eng Ch Emred Huntsman x Azonax Dora Explorer) White bitch of excellent type. Very good head, Short compact body with good spring of rib. Not the greatest hindquarters and another who moved poorly. 3. Sutcliffe s Alunday Shez Totally Awesome (Shirvin Eldorado Man x Alunday Devils Chaos) Substantial white bitch. Correct bite but with missplaced canines. Very well made but in loose condition and needs to muscle up and tighten all over. Junior Bitch 1. Humphreys Bullroy BK Baggy Pants (Bullroy Reco x Bullroy Baggy Britches) Compact white bitch of medium size. Nice head and good straight front. Light in bone. Short back and deep strong body, but loose in topline. 2. Brasshead Kennels Brasshead Southern Belle (Ch Alunday Hoodlum x NZ Ch Charlemagne Kause I Said ROM) Substantial bitch with a lovely round bone and excellent long neck. Undershot. Another that would benefit from a good excersise regime. 3. Healand s Shirvin Unforgettable (Rijaca Minds Eye x Shirvin Come Fly Withme) Black/Brindle bitch with a perfect mouth, and nice head and well balanced throughout. Not at all happy in the ring which made her very difficult to asses. Intermediate Bitch 1. Villano s Evildouer Picture Puzzle (Evildouer Chcargobootleg x Ellbrae Tickled Pink) Very nicely made quality bitch with a lovely head a beautiful straight front, decent bone and a well laid shoulder and good long neck. Slight mouth fault. Short back. Very well made throughout but moved close behind Res CC State Bred Bitch 1. Villano s Evildouer Bossy Boots (Evildouer Chcargobootleg x Ellbrae Tickled Pink) Quality bitch, well made throughout. Beautiful head, filled right up and turned over with a stunning profile and plenty of power and fill. Did not make the most of herself but her obvious quality shone through 2. Brasshead Kennels Brasshead Bear Wolf (Ch Bullroy Bolt Cutter ROM x Ch Brasshead Voodoo Bear) Big upstanding and showy bitch. Slightly on the narrow side throughout, and I would like to see more width and spring of rib. Moved freely enough but not parallel 3. Carter and Sutton s Barkinot Cider Rules (Ch Sartorial Backstreet Boy x Trahern Legally Blonde) Another bitch that was not that happy in the ring. Excellent eye and expression. Well placed ears. Well balanced throughout. Needs more hind angulation. Australian Bred Bitch Humphreys Bullroy Chick Chick Boom (Ch Bullroy Reco x Bullroy Dream Catcher) The star of the day. Substantial black/brindle bitch with an excellent well filled and turned head. Excellent eye and ears giving a super expression. Correct bite, but another with rather odd, thin, canine teeth. Good straight front, with good bone. Beautiful long neck and well laid shoulder, flowing into a firm topline. Moved very well both ways. A big strapping bitch, in excellent condition, fit and muscular and won here with something to spare. CC and Best in Show Open Bitch 1. Dowall s Jacamar Miss Jackson (Ch Bullroy Bolt Cutter ROM x Jacamar Seawitch) Nicely made white bitch. Very nice head with a good roman finish. Good straight front with round bone. Good neck and shoulder. Very well angulated hind quarters.

4 Neutered Bitch 1. Fieldhouse s Ch Trahern Glendariff (Bullroarus Roman Candle x Trahern Bella Donna) Very nicely made red bitch. 7 Years old and yet one of the fittest animals at the show. Not quite the head properties to trouble the very best but a well balanced bitch with excellent make and shape. Bull Terrier Miniatures Baby Puppy Dog 1. Shrinkabull Kennels Shrinkabull Power House (Shrinkabull Mastermind x Stardom She Devil) Solid black/brindle dog. Beautifully made with a very good head, lovely neck and a good firm topline. Showed like a professional moved well. Certainly the dog that I most wanted to take home. I seriously considered him for Res dog; he really was that good, but I feel that at this age he is clearly not the finished article and as was once famously said they change so much dear. Nevertheless one with a very bright future. Puppy Dog Intermediate Dog 1. Williams Ch Minibrook Eye Seeyou ROM (Minibrook Eye Shinner x Ch Minibrook Lipstick Queen ROM) Very smart, black brindle dog. Very well made with a good well filled head, excellent heavy bone and powerful wide hindquarters. Moved well both coming and going. Way over the measure. Res CC Open Dog 1. Hellsten s Kahmins Harvest Moon ( Stardom Up Boyz x Kerkens Strawberry Kisses) Well balanced dog of good size. Well shaped head, good bodylines. Compact body. Moved freely both ways. CC Baby Puppy Bitch 1. Robinson s Shadbraye Picture Perfect (Stardom Black Adder x Shrinkabull Eye Liner) Well made puppy. Good shape to head. Needs to develop throughout. Minor Puppy Bitch 1. Robinson s Prefurabull Only One (Stardom Up Boyz x Ch Prefurabull Cherry Ripe) Shapley Brindle bitch. Very good head with an excellent profile. A little fine in bone. Very good hindquarters which she used well on the move. 2. Speiread Kennels Speiread Pure Bling (Ch Bullroy Boltcutter x Ch Speiread Gotta Love Me) Heavyweight black/brindle. Contrast in type to the winner. Short stocky body, with a very short back. Another who moved well. Puppy Bitch 1. Nobull Kennels Nobull Littlebitabling (Bullacktiv Stalking Wolf x Nobull Taking Chances) Substantial compact typy bitch. Good neck and shoulder moved close and rather straight in stifle, but has quality and typy in abundance. Res CC and Best Puppy in show 2. Williams Minibrook Queen Ofth Action (Minibrook Juwanna Mann x Minibrook Nuffin Norti) Quality bitch, built on rather finer lines and lacks a little in bone. Good conformation Moved slightly close behind. State Bred Bitch 1. Speiread Kennels Speiread Noughts N Crosses (Speiread I Dream a Lot x Speiread Fire Cracker) A lovely brindle bitch with an outstanding head, completely filled up and turned and of good length Very well made throughout a true combination of Bull and Terrier. Shade long in back. Unfortunately in the challenge she clearly did not want to be there which spoilt her chances, nevertheless a top quality biuch who, on another day, could go all the way.

Shorty cobby body with excellent spring of rib. A true Bull Terrier in miniature CC and BOB 2. Hellsten s Kahmins Electric Tango( Ch Stardom Up Boyz x Kerkins Strawberry Kisses) Shapley brindle and white bitch with an excellent head. Elegant bodylines but a shade on the tall side 3. Shrinkabull/Stardom Kennels Shrinkabull Hot Gossip( Ch Glenric Little Panda x Glenric Red Storm) Shapley quality Black and Tan bitch Excellent profile with a good neck and shoulder. A little fine in muzzle and well over the measure Open Bitch 1. Kaplanis Ch Prefurabull Cherry Ripe ( Ch Glenric Little Panda x Glenric Red Storm) Well balanced bitch of good size.
