Specify Cavaliers of the West to receive the group rate. Reservation deadline is December 20, After this date, guests will be subject to prevailing rack rate. Hotel will allow up to (4) pets per room. The pet fee for the first (2) is $35 with $5 fee for each additional pet. Guests must inform hotel of number of pets, as failure to do so may result in a $100 charge added to the bill. Check-in is 4:00PM. Check-out is 12 Noon Complimentary on-site parking is provided HOTEL AND GROUND RULES Everyone must comply with the request that ALL DOGS must be crated at all times when not under the direct supervision of a wide awake, responsible adult. This is for the protection on yourself, your dog & the hotel. PLEASE USE DESIGNATED EXERCISE AREAS. Please cover furnishings & beds with your own sheets & towels if dogs will get on the furniture. NO bathing dogs. If feet need touch-up, use your own towels. Clean Hair from sinks & tubs. NO WET DOGS ON THE FURNITURE. Bring the necessary requirements for IMMEDIATE clean-up. Inform hotel of any serious damage to your 6

7 room this is YOUR responsibility. Report barking dogs, catch any running loose, carry extra baggies. Pick up ALL litter & droppings & place them in the bins provided. 8 Class Sponsorships are $10.00 per class and greatly help defray the costs of the lovely prizes awarded in each class. Sponsor names are printed in the Catalog. They must be received by Linda Kornhi no later than December 19, Sales Tables are free for the first TWO tables, each additional table is $25.00 for the weekend. Vendors are asked to donate a nice item for the Live or Silent Auction. Indicate on the Summary of Amounts Due form how many crates you require. This service is limited! Supply your own crate pad/bed. Please note-this show is benefitting CKCSC Rescue, Inc All monies taken in at this show will be donated to rescue after the cost of the show has been met. $230,000 was needed for those Cavaliers rescued in 2011, and this year is proving to be as serious as the last. We can only hope our auctions and YOUR DONATIONS will raise the much needed funds. Free Buffet Available Wednesday through Friday in the Fuse Lounge at the Carmel Mission Inn! Purchase a drink from 5 to 7 pm on these nights and eat for free! Banquet will be held Saturday evening, January 19, at 7:00PM. Cost will be $40.00 per person. Dinner will be sit down style. Filet Mignon steak with wild mushroom sauce or Fresh grilled Halibut with Meyer lemon, butter and caper sauce or Pasta Primavera with homemade pappardelle pasta, with seasonal fresh vegetables in a marinara sauce. Served with Salinas Valley greens, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, goat cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette. Fire-roasted asparagus and roasted fingerling potatoes. Auction Auction There will be a live auction on Saturday night, with special guest Mark Williams as our auctioneer. Donations are greatly needed and much appreciated. The featured item, a one week stay at a lovely condo on Maui, will have all proceeds go to rescue. All monies taken in at this show will be donated to rescue after the cost of the show has been met. Health Clinics Heart and eye clinics will be available on Saturday, January 19, beginning at 10:00AM until 3:00PM. Please show up 20 mins early for eye appts, for administration of eye drops. Reservations for the Clinics must be made through Toni Wade at tprwade@yahoo.com or at ( 360) until Weds, Jan 16. After that date call Toni on her cell at Toni will need to know how many dogs are coming, and if they are showing, what class they are in. Appointments will be made on a first come, first served basis. Appointments may be made at the show if there are openings. No appointments will be accepted without payment in FULL. 9 Download and complete the OFA cardiac form from for each dog you are bringing, this will save time and the work of bringing the needed information to the show. OFA stickers will provide a 50% discount to register results. Updates are free. Eye Clinic: Dr. Dennis Olin, DVM, $ per dog for non members and $30.00 per dog for members. Your appointment time will be the time for eye drops. Plan on a 15 minute wait. You are encouraged to send your results in to help the database. Show Photographer: Shelly Fields of DreamMaker Immages will be our show phtotographer for the weekend. Shelly will be set up in the exibition area all weekend. Shelly will be available for anyone wanting photos of their dogs, families with their dogs or just families. Please see Shelly at the show. Cavalier Parades: Rescue/Therapy Dog/ Beloved Pet Parade will be held Sunday after lunch and immediately prior to the Bitch Conformation Judging. Costumes are welcome but entirely optional. The emphasis is on fun and showing off your special Cavaliers. Every cavalier deserves a trip around the ring! DEFINITION OF CLASSES CHANGE Conformation: Performance: New Order of Judging All dog classes, including puppies, are judged first, followed by all bitch classes, including puppies. Refer to the Definition of Classes Final and Special Awards for details. Novice dog eligibility is determined solely by whether or not the dog has ever had points awarded by any recognized registry as of postmark closing. Two new optional titling classes for Obedience are offered, Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B. CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL CLUB, USA DEFINITION OF CLASSES As of 11/1/10 The term "Dog" applies to both sexes unless otherwise specified. CONFORMATION As of 10/1/10 9

10 OFFICIAL CONFORMATION CLASSES (Championship Points awarded if entry justifies.) Junior Puppy: Puppies 5 months but not yet 9 months. Senior Puppy: Puppies 9 months but not yet 12 months. Graduate Puppy: Dogs 12 months but not yet 18 months and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title. Novice: Dogs 5 months and older, never to have won any points at a CKCSC, USA or CKCSC Regional Championship Show nor at a Championship (Point) Show in any country in which the Breed is recognized. Bred By Exhibitor: Dogs 5 months and older, owned by the breeder and handled in the ring by the breeder or his/her domestic partner. The breeder is the registered owner of the dam at the time of whelping. Junior American Bred: Dogs 5 months but not yet 18 months, whelped in the USA of a mating that took place in the USA, and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship if over 12 months of age. American Bred: Dogs 18 months and older, whelped in the USA of a mating that took place in the USA and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title. Second Generation American Bred: Dogs 5 months and older which are American Bred and of which both sire and dam are American Bred, and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title. (Offered at the National Specialty, Members Club Show, and Trudy Brown Memorial Rally only.) Health & Conformation Dogs 5 years of age and older with an OFA certificate that shows and OFA registry number and states that the dog has no evidence of hip displaysia after 2 years of age and is certified clear within 1 year of the postmark closing date for that show of the following diseases: 1) Heart by a board certified cardiologist; 2) Patellar Luxation by a licensed veterinarian or via an OFA patella certificate; 3) Eyes by CERF or by a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist s exam sheet indicating that eyes are normal. Copies of the 4 certificates must accompany the entry form for any dog entering this class. Special Limit Blenheim: Blenheim dogs 5 months and older and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title if over 12 months of age. Special Limit Tricolor: Tricolor dogs 5 months and older and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title if over 12 months of age. Special Limit Ruby: Ruby dogs 5 months and older and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title if over 12 months of age. Special Limit Black & Tan: Black & Tan dogs 5 months and older and not holding a CKCSC, USA championship title if over 12 months of age. Open: Dogs 5 months and older. Senior Open: Dogs 7 years and older. UNOFFICIAL CONFORMATION CLASSES (No championship points awarded.) Veteran: Dogs 7 years and older. Class to be judged on overall quality and conformation of the dogs, regardless of their age. Stud Dog: Stud dogs to parade with 2 or more of their get from at least 2 different litters, not necessarily in the same ownership. Get must be entered in an Official or Unofficial Conformation Class at this Show. Class to be judged on quality and consistency of get only. Brood Bitch: Brood bitches to parade with two or more of their produce from at least two different litters, not necessarily in the same ownership. Produce must be entered in an Official or Unofficial Conformation Class at this Show. Class to be judged on quality and consistency of produce only. Brace: Two dogs 5 months or older, of the same color and in the same ownership but not necessarily of the same sex. Class to be judged on similarity and quality. AWARDS (Championship points awarded if entry justifies.) All official conformation classes are judged for dogs, then bitches. Winners/Reserve Winners competition takes place after judging concludes for that sex. Unofficial conformation classes, including Best Veteran In Show, are judged after the competition for Winners/Reserve Winners Bitch. The remaining Final and Special Awards follow the unofficial conformation classes. Winners (WD, WB) is awarded from the Class Winners. Reserve Winners (RWD, RWB) is awarded from the remaining Class Winners and the second place dog to Winners. 10

11 Award of Merit (AOM) is awarded after Reserve Winners from the remaining Class Winners and next placing dog to Reserve Winners or the first AOM winner. (Up to two AOM s are awarded to each sex at all National shows and each Regional AGM trophy show.) Best Puppy (BPD, BPB) is awarded from the winners of the Junior and Senior Puppy Classes after Reserve Winners and AOM s are awarded. Best Veteran In Show is awarded from the winners of the Veteran Classes. Best In Show (BIS) is awarded from Winners Dog and Winners Bitch. Reserved Best In Show (RBIS) is awarded from the Opposite Sex Winners and the Reserve Winners to Best In Show. Best Puppy In Show (BPIS) is awarded from the winners of Best Puppy Dog and Best Puppy Bitch after Best In Show is awarded. FINAL AND SPECIAL AWARDS (No championship points awarded.) Final Awards are awarded from eligible dogs from all of the classes. The definition for the Final Awards is the same as the class definition. They must include: Best American Bred in Show Best Bred By Exhibitor In Show Best Blenheim In Show Best Tricolor In Show Best Ruby In Show Best Black-and-Tan In Show HANDLING (To be judged on how well the dogs are handled, NOT on the dogs themselves.) Children s Handling: Handlers 6 years but not yet 12 years. Dogs not to be placed upon the examining table. Senior Handling: Handlers 12 years but not yet 17 years. Dogs to be placed upon examining table. PERFORMANCE as of 10/14/10 (Dogs must be 5 months or older.) OBEDIENCE OFFICIAL OBEDIENCE CLASSES (Qualifying scores may earn legs toward obedience titles.) Novice A: Dogs not holding the C-CD, shown by a handler who has not completed an obedience title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. Novice B: Dogs not holding the C-CD, shown by a handler who has completed an obedience title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. A C-CD dog may continue to compete in this class until it receives a qualifying score in an Open Class or until it has received one (1) High In Trial award prior to the closing date of the trial. This one (1) High in Trial award is in addition to any obtained before or during the 60 day period after receiving the CD title. Open A: Dogs holding a C-CD. Open B: Dogs holding a C-CD, C-CDX, or C-UD. Utlity A: Dogs holding a C-CDX. Utlity B: Dogs holding a C-CDX or C-UD. OPTIONAL TITLING CLASSES (Qualifying scores may earn legs toward obedience titles.) Graduate Novice: Dogs that have not earned a C-GN. Graduate Open: Dogs that have not earned a C-GO. Beginner Novice B: Dogs not holding a C-BN. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B at any trial. Beginner Novice A: Dogs not holding a C-BN title, shown by a handler who has not completed an obedience title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. The handler must be the owner or a member of the owner s immediate family and may enter more than one dog in this class. No dog may be entered in both Beginner Novice A and Beginner Novice B at any trial. 11

12 UNOFFICIAL OBEDIENCE CLASSES (Qualifying scores do not earn legs toward obedience titles.) Prenovice: Dogs may compete in Pre-Novice until the third leg of the C-CD is earned. All Novice exercises on lead: Heel (including the figure 8), Stand for Examination, Recall, Sit-Stay and Down-Stay. Versatility: This class is for dogs that are capable of performing the Open and Utility exercises. Brace: Two Cavaliers to perform the Novice exercises in unison. The dogs need not be in the same ownership or the same color, but must be handled by only one handler. Dogs may be shown unattached or coupled, the coupling device to be not less than 6 inches overall length. Whichever method is used, it must be continued throughout all exercises. Either or both dogs in a brace may be entered in another class(es) at the same trial. Veteran: Cavaliers 7 years and older to perform the Novice exercises. RALLY OFFICIAL RALLY CLASSES (Qualifying scores earn legs toward rally titles.) Rally Excellent B: Dogs holding the C-RA title. A dog completing the Rally Excellent (C-RE) title may continue to complete in this class indefinitely. Rally Excellent A: Dogs holding the C-RA title, but not holding any Novice, Open or Utility obedience title or any Rally Excellent title in any registry. Rally Advanced B: Dogs holding the C-RN title. A dog completing the Rally Advanced (C-RA) title may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. Rally Advanced A: Dogs holding the C-RN title, but not holding any Novice, Open or Utility obedience title or any Rally Advanced Rally Novice B: Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced Class is earned. Rally Novice A: Dogs not holding any Novice, Open or Utility obedience title or any Rally title in any registry, shown by a handler who has not completed any obedience title or any Rally title with a Cavalier or a dog of any other breed in any country in which the breed is recognized. After a dog earns the Rally Novice (C-RN) title, it may continue to compete in this class for 60 days. AGILITY (Dogs must be 12 months or older) REGULAR CLASSES Regular classes will be offered for any Cavalier jumping in its required height division according to AKC regulations. At trials held on consecutive days, a Cavalier entered in at least one Regular class may not be entered in any Preferred class.
