USE THE SEPARATE ENTRY FORM FOR THE CAT EVENTS AVAILABLE AT cudahykennelclub.org Open to all dogs at least one year of age by the day of the test and that are individually registered with the American Kennel Club recorded in the FSS program dogs with PAL numbers and dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. A dog may enter only once per event. Each event has an individual event number Note: Entry Fees must be received for each entry for each Event Each day. If Fees are received for only one event only the first day will be Processed. Entry Fees: $15 per dog. Date of event entries - close at the event address one hour after the event start time. After the closing time entries will not be accepted canceled altered or substituted. Any check returned for any reason will be assessed a $20 service fee. Entries will not be accepted without a signature fees or back of entry form with a signed agreement. An official AKC Entry Form must be use4d. No entry will be accepted which is made subject to conditions. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent disqualified excused or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee. If because of riots civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the trial giving club it is impossible to open or complete the Trial no refund of entry fees will be made. Refunds will be granted for bitches in season and for dogs that are judged lame or unfit to compete by the inspection committee. Schedule - Inspection and Event Starting Times: Event Hours Start of Runs Entries Close Saturday 8 am to 8:30 am 1 hour after FCAT 1 finish start Saturday 12 noon to 12:30 pm 1 hour after FCAT 2 finish start Sunday 8 am to 8:30 am 1 hour after FCAT 3 finish start Inspection Beginning at 8 am Beginning at noon Beginning at noon DOGS MUST BE INSPECTID PRIOR TO RUNNING FOR EACH EVENT. Bitches in season or dogs judged lame or otherwise unfit to compete by the inspection committee will receive a refund of entry fees. A SHORT HANDLERS MEETING will be held prior to the start of each event. Fast CAT information will be available at the secretary s desk. In addition these regulations policies and guidelines are available on the AKC website: events/fast-cat. DOGS WILL BE ASSIGNED A RUNNING ORDER after entries are received. The Fast CAT Event Committee will attempt to accommodate scheduling conflicts for those participating in CAT events. Dogs not present at their scheduled time will be moved in the schedule. Dogs will not be counted absent unless they fail to appear after all dogs have run. PLEASE NOTIFY THE FIELD CLERK IF YOU NEED TO MOVE YOUR DOG UP OR DOWN IN THE SCHEDULE SO AS TO AVOID DELAYS. NOTE: The speed of the Top 20 fastest dogs of each breed will be posted on the AKC website. The first test in this new sport occurred in April Please check the AKC website to see how your dog compares with other dogs in your breed.. General Information 1. All entrants must be one year of age or older on the day of the test. 2. Dogs not present by the end of the teast will be scratched. 2

3 3. Each entry will be examined at inspection. Inspections shall take place prior to any form of wrapping being applied to the dog. In the opinion of the inspection committee any entry found to be lame or unfit to compete or a female in season shall not be allowed to enter and entry fees shall be refunded. 4. Dogs will be inspected before each event. 5. Run order will be set by the field committee. We will separate the running of multiple dogs handled by a single handler. We will also attempt to accommodate the schedules of entrants in the CAT tests held concurrently with this test. Please advise us if you need to be shifted in the running order. Dogs not present will be moved to a later position in the schedule. 6. Collars: Dogs may wear any collar except a choker color a collar with prongs of an electronic collar. The collar should be snug to minimize the chances of getting hung up during the run. Owners should be aware that there is a chance that tags handing form the collar could become entangled on something during the run. Owners may use clips or rubber bands to hold the dog s hair. The owner assumes responsibility for the safety of the dog with regard to the dog s collar. 7. Course Plan: The Field Committee reserves the right to alter the course plan as required by field conditions on the day of the trial. 8. Loose Dogs: There will be a $5 fine assessed for any loose dog not taking part in the course in progress or for anyone not picking up after their dog. 9. Unsportsmanlike behavior is discouraged. Violators may be excused from the event and may be subject to further disciplinary action by the Club of the Event Committee. 10. Control of dogs will be strictly enforces. Please keep your dog under control when not competing. Course Maps All Events Basic Information About AKC Fast CAT 1. Fast CAT Test is a timed 100 yard dash for dogs. It is meant to be a fun and healthy activity of interest to any dog owner 2. Fast CAT is a timed straight race of 100 yards. 3. Dogs run singularly How are FAST CAT Points and Titles Awarded? 1. The dog s time to complete the 100 yard dash is converted into MPHs. 2. A handicap system is applied to a dog s MPS to determine the number of points earned. The handicap system is based on the height of the dog at its withers. a) 18 or greater = handicap is 1.0; b) 12 to less than 18 handicap is 1.5; c) below 12 = handicap is Points = MPS multiplied by the dog s handicap 4. Fast CAT titles suffix titles are earned at designated milestones. BCAT = 150 points DCAT = 500 points FCAT = 1000 points FCAT = every additional 500 points 5. The top 20 fastest dogs by breeds are published on the AKC website. Course and Equipment 1. Safety: Safety is of utmost importance. It is the responsibility of the Event Committee to insure the safety of the course the equipment and the conduct of those involved with the event. CKC will attempt to provide a minimum of 90 feet for aa run-out. The course is fenced to direct the direction of the course. It is not designed to contain dogs that a bent in exiting the course. Handler with dogs that may present issues with getting lose are encouraged to take extra precautions and to advise the Event Committee so that additional safety precautions can be employed. Prior to moving the lure to position it for the start the lure operator shall announce hold your dogs in order to caution owners. Dogs may start up to 10 feet behind the starting line. 2. Finish: The club must provide enough room for a safe run-out area. CKC attempts to use a minimum of 30 yards. CKC will attempt to provide assistance at the end of the course for collecting the dog if the owner requests it. Please notify the Event Committee if assistance is likely under the circumstances of the event. 3. Timing Devices: CKC uses an electronic timer. The time to complete the 100 yard dash is recorded to the nearest 1/100 th of a second. The time starts when 3

4 any part of the dog breaks the electronic beam at the start line. The time stops when any part of the crosses the finish line. 4. Lure Equipment: CKC uses a drag line with a continuous loop system as a backup. 5. Lure: CKC uses a squawker or white plastic bag for the lure. 6. Huntmaster Has Control of the Course. He or she is in charge of all dogs and handlers on the field shall ensure handlers understand safe release and retrieval procedures shall ensure the lure is properly positioned shall ensure the lure operation timers and starting line signal person are ready shall signal the lure operator to start the lure and shall give the verbal signal tallyho to release the dog.
