Each dog shall be handled by the same handler in the First and Second Series. All Vizslas entered must be free of any disqualifying faults as stated in the Vizsla standard recognized by the American Kennel Club (see page 10). A Vizsla is ineligible to compete in the Vizsla Club of America National Field Trial if trained on the Field Trial Grounds one week ( 7 days ) prior to the first advertised date of the National Field Trial. (This does not include running on those grounds in a Field Trial or Hunt Test during the previous week.) 9 NOTICE TO TRIAL PARTICIPANTS, VISITORS AND GUESTS We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in keeping the grounds clean. Please use only designated areas for camping and parking. Regularly clean up after your animals.. All participants, visitors, guests and entries are accepted on the express condition that the Vizsla Club of America, its officers, field trial officials (as well as the landowner and his employees) are released from any and all liability for loss, damage or injury sustained by any person, animal or equipment while present on the field trial grounds. PRIZES Pheasant Statue on cherry wood base in varying sizes will be offered for the winner of each stake. Holland Boone polished pewter engraved plate will be offered for all second, third, and fourth placements in all stakes. Standard AKC rosettes are offered to all placed dogs. Selle Memorial Trophy - National Amateur Champion The winners accept responsibility for: Having an engraved plate made and affixed to the trophy to commemorate the win and Agree to return the trophy to be awarded at the following year s National Field Trial HORSES Warning: The Vizsla Club of America, Inc. and any club member or equine professional supplying horses to the event are not liable for damages resulting from an injury to or death of the participant because of the unpredictable nature and irrational behavior of horses, regardless of their training and past performance. You must carry a current Coggins for your horse. Travel with all current health records on all animals as required by law. These laws differ by state. Check the laws for any state you wili be traveling through. lllinois requires you to have a health certificate that was issued within the last 30 days and an entry permit number issued by the Illinois Department of Agriculture. 10 BREED STANDARD QUALIFICATION FOR THE NATIONAL FIELD TRIAL All Vizslas running in the National Field Trial must be free of any disqualifying faults as stated in the Vizsla standard recognized by the American Kennel Club. To comply with this requirement all dogs (except for those dogs with a permanent qualification number) entered in the 2011 National Field Trial will be examined by an AKC Licensed Conformation Judge, approved to judge Vizslas on a regular or provisional basis, prior to the running of the stake in which they are entered. Examination will take place on the Field Trial grounds in a location selected by the Field Trial Committee. Examination times and judge is as follows: Ms. Beth Speich, 1011 West Country Road, Jerseyville, IL :00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, November 6th and 7:00 am - Noon on Monday, November 7th and Tuesday, November 8th. It is the responsibility of the owner/handler to present his/her dog for evaluation during the published times. If the owner/handler of a dog cannot present his/her dog for evaluation during the published times due to an unexpected event or illness the Field Trial Secretary must be advised immediately. Every effort will be made to accommodate a special time for evaluation, however, there is no guarantee that a judge will be available outside of the published times. Procedure for Dogs with Permanent Qualification The Permanent Qualification Number must be included on the entry form for the stake(s) in which the dog is entered. Dogs with permanent qualification are qualified for all future VCA field events even if the breed-specific disqualifications in the standard for the Vizsla breed change. Dogs that qualify when less than 24 months of age do not have permanent qualification and are not qualified for future VCA field events. The Vizsla standard recognized by the American Kennel Club states the following disqualifications: Partially or completely black nose. Solid white extending above the toes or white anywhere else on the dog except the fore chest. White extending on the shoulders or neck. A distinctly long coat. Males over 25-1/2 inches or under 20-1/2 inches in height. (Height measurements are taken at the highest point over the shoulder blades.) Females over 24-1/2 inches or under 19-1/2 inches in height. (Height measurements are taken at the highest point over the shoulder blades.) These are the only breed-specific disqualifications and thus are the ONLY STANDARDS THAT WILL BE EVALUATED. NOTE REGARDING BITCHES IN SEASON The Field Trial Secretary must be notified that the bitch has come into season at least onehalf hour prior to the beginning of the stake in which the bitch is entered. The running order will be modified so that bitch(es) in season will run in the last brace(s) of the day for that stake. FIVE MINUTE CALL Each brace will be announced five minutes prior to the estimated cast-off time. Handlers are responsible for having their dogs at the line in a timely manner. 10

11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Catalog Advertising and Sales Advertising in the field catalog may be placed thru Liz Horton, See rules for submission of ad copy along with pricing information in the advertising flyer, which will be posted on the website by the end of August. Catalogs may be pre-ordered on the reservation form. Only a limited number of catalogs will be available for sale at the field trial. Course Familiarization We will have a ride around on Sunday afternoon November 6th for anyone wanting to participate. This ride around will include all courses. Time will be posted at the grounds. Camping The field trial grounds at Pyramid State Park do not have running water or electricity. The State employees will have two water troughs in the parking area available. There is also a hydrant at the headquarters building. A fee of $10/night will be charged for camping on the grounds. There will be someone available to collect fees and direct parking beginning Sunday, November 6. Food at the Field Trial Grounds There will be a kick-off dinner held on Monday, November 7, and a judge s dinner on Wednesday, November 9, at the Pyramid Oaks Golf Club. Box lunches will be available on the grounds by reservation only. Dinner reservation information will be included in the web based information packet to be published this summer. Fund Raisers Sporting or hunting-related items of value (new condition) that you, or your company, wish to donate are greatly appreciated. These items will be included in the raffle. The Derby Calcutta will be held on Wednesday, November 9th. Horse Rentals Mr. Lee Allison, DBA JL Farm Field Trial Horses, will serve as our 2011 National Events Wrangler. Horses will be available for rent by the day/week with reservations and payment made in advance. A limited number of horses will be available for rental by the brace. Horse reservation information will be included on the VCA website as soon as it is available. Training Area No training is permitted on the field trial grounds during the Championships or for seven days prior to the commencement of the Championships. Returned Item/NSF Charge Anyone who submits any payment to the VCA, whether credit card or check, that is later returned by the bank or charged back to the VCA for any reason will be assessed a $30.00 returned item fee by the VCA. VCA Entry Refund Policy Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Trial Committee. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the organizing committee, it is impossible to open or to complete the trial, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the trial before completion, no entry fees will be refunded. 11
