Why Support Providence Animal Center? Your sponsorship would support the following critical lifesaving programs that rely 100% on the generosity of individuals and businesses to continue. Rescue and adoption services. In 2017, Providence Animal Center rescued and placed over 4,000 homeless cats and dogs into forever situations, a majority of them transferred from overcrowded shelters where they would otherwise never have a second chance at life. Low-cost veterinary services. Since 2010, Providence Animal Center operates onsite and mobile veterinary clinics as well as provides low-cost spay and neuter and other lifesaving surgeries, reaching thousands of clients who otherwise would not be able to afford to care for their pets and would have to give them up for lack of resources. Specific subsidized spay/neuter and behavior programs are targeted at owned Pit Bulls and cats, the most overpopulated breeds in the region. Pet food pantries. Through a partnership with local food pantries, an average of 500 pet meals are provided monthly. Clients are also offered completely free vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries annually as well as holiday pet stockings. A safe haven program for victims of domestic violence. In partnership with the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, we provide a safe haven to the pets of families suffering from domestic violence. We care for the pets until their family can escape the violent situation and get back on their feet. If for some reason they cannot, we accept the pets into our adoption program. Humane Investigations & Humane Education. Humane Society Police Officer Ron Riggle investigates 1,000 instances of animal cruelty in Delaware and Chester Counties every year. Those animals are often relinquished to the care of Providence Animal Center. For many, it s a long road, and a very costly recovery before they can be placed up for adoption. In an effort to reduce animal cruelty, Providence Animal Center operates a Humane Education program where people of all ages in the community learn about proper animal care and preventing cruelty to animals.
