CONCLUSION The scenario of layer industry in 2012 was not much different compared to the past years. The same issues in the broiler industry also affect the layer industry. Besides fulfilling the role to meet the protein requirement of the population, the industry has also been able to export table eggs to neighbouring countries. The export of table eggs in 2012 is 23.79 percent higher than the previous year. The per capita consumption of chicken/duck egg is reported at 328 pieces whereas self-sufficiency level is at 116 percent. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT The authors wish to thank Datuk Dr. Abd.
