WORKER RAFFLE AND LUNCH PROVIDED FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS. The event-hosting club, its agents, members, representatives, volunteers, assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children or spectators. *Early inspection may not begin prior to published Event hours* Late Entries will NOT be accepted. Those wishing confirmation must include a legible email address on their entry forms. A wait list of up to 5 dogs will be maintained in case of Event filling. Approximate run order will be emailed to those who supply an email address on their entry form. Arrive at least 1 hour prior to time start of Event for inspection and check-in. Dogs not present and checked in at paddock 45 minutes before run time will be scratched after a 5 minute grace period. If you do not check in and your run time comes up we will assume you are absent and you will lose your turn. No monies will be refunded for dogs not checked in ahead of time. Exceptions to the Run order ONLY for Verified Conflicts. Volunteers working the entire Event will run FIRST before all other competitors to ensure a smooth running Event. Dogs that are overweight and/or out of condition may be at greater risk for injury and exhaustion. The Inspection Committee has the authority to disallow a dog s entry into a test, and in such instances, applicable entry fees will be refunded. Dogs should be warmed up before and cooled down after running. All Dogs run at owners sole risk. We RECOMMEND dogs entered in both CAT and FAST CAT have a 30 minute break between runs. All entries must be 12 months of age or older on the day of the test. ROLL CALL Roll call begins 1 hour before the beginning of each event. Early acceptance for members of the field committee may begin one-half hour prior to published test hours. At roll call, all dogs will be measured by wicket to verify handicaps. Bitches in season and lame and unfit dogs will be excused with entry refunded. All AKC Rules regarding sportsmanship and conduct apply. Persons exhibiting conduct detrimental to the AKC/CKC/any dog(s)/other person(s) will be asked to leave the Event site by the Field Committee, they may be disciplined by the AKC, and entry fees will not be refunded. No entry fees will be refunded if the event cannot be started or completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club or the eventhosting club, This is a rain-or-shine outdoor event. Please plan accordingly. An electronic timing system will be used. A drag lure with plastic strip and fabric squawker will be used for ALL competitors.
The FAST CAT course will be fully fenced with a catch pen at the end. The show grounds are not completely fenced On site porta potties are available. Dogs must be on lead or crated unless running. The Huntmaster is responsible for field safety and therefore he/she is in complete charge of all dogs and handlers on the field. In service to this responsibility, he/she has the authority to stop the lure in any potentially dangerous situation and signal the handler to retrieve a testing dog. The Huntmaster has final say on if a dog may get a re-run. Awards Ribbons; FCAT Qualifying course = Light blue ribbon BCDC will give a purple neck sash at each Event for: Fastest in under 12 class Fastest in over 12 and under 18 class Fastest in 18 or greater class Title Rosettes BCDC will give new title rosettes for BCAT, DCAT, and FCAT Ribbons must be picked up at the conclusion of each event; no ribbons will be mailed to competitors. Conditions of Entry Hours Grounds will be available at 6:30 AM. Roll call begins at 7:00 AM. BCDC will make every attempt to facilitate that all entrants will be accommodated with regard to running the in the trials, but it is also the responsibility of each entrant to make an effort to be ready when their dog is called to the line. Fast CAT events are open to all dogs at least 12 months of age that are individually registered with the AKC, dogs granted a Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) number or dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. Dogs with breed disqualifications and monorchid/cryptorchid dogs are eligible to participate. Dogs must have an AKC registration number and be at least one year of age on the day of the Event. Dogs may only run once per test. One dog per entry form per test. All entries must be accompanied by money order or check to be valid. A returned check is not a valid entry. There will be a $35 fee for a returned check. Entries received by phone, text, or email will not be accepted. Early entries, incomplete entries, or forms without signature will not be accepted.. GENERAL: All entries must be one year of age or older on the day of the Event. Dogs not present 45 minutes before run time will be scratched after a 5 minute grace period. The field committee reserves the right to alter the course plan as required by weather and/or field conditions on the day of the Event The field committee reserves the right to bar known aggressive dogs from the event site. Each entry will be examined at inspection. Bitches in season and lame dogs will be excused. Entry fee for dogs excused during inspection, for bitches in season or lameness will be refunded. Gasoline and electric powered drag lure machines will be used. Back up equipment will be available. THERE WILL BE A $5.00 FINE ASSESSED FOR ANY LOOSE DOG NOT TAKING PART IN THE COURSE IN PROGRESS or for anyone caught not picking up after their dog. NO ONE will be allowed on the field without the express permission of the field chairman, except the appointed field committee. Anyone exhibiting unsportsmanlike behavior will be excused from the field and may be subject to further disciplinary actions. From East: Take Rt. 33 West to Kozloski.Take a left up the ramp in order to get onto Kosloski Blvd heading north. Follow to site on left approximately 0.6 miles to site. If exiting GSP at NJ-33 heading W towards Freehold you can: 1. Bear right onto Business 33 past the intersection with Fairfield Road and then follow direction above or 2. Take Highway 33 and exit northbound onto Halls Mill Rd., which changes name to Kozloski Rd at the Howell/Freehold border and then follow directions above. From West: Take Rt. 33 East (4 lane, NJ Turnpike Exit 8) to Halls Mill Rd Exit (This is past the Rt. 33, Rt. 537 and Rt. 9 exits). Take Halls Mill Rd. North (it turns into Kozloski) to site on left. ABOUT FAST CAT The purpose of the AKC Fast CAT event is to provide all dogs and their owners an enjoyable, health activity in which they can participate. 1. Fast CAT is a timed straight 100-yard dash for dogs. 2. Dogs are held at the start line and the coursing lure is activated prompting the dog to follow chasing it to the finish line and into a catch pen. The course is completely fenced and dogs are run individually. 3. Dogs are timed when they complete the 100-yard dash. The time is converted to Miles Per Hour (MPH). 4. Based on the dog s size at the withers a handicap is applied and points are earned: 18 or greater = Handicap is 1.0 12 up to less than 18 = Handicap is 1.5. Under 12 = Handicap is 2.0. 5. MPH = 204.545/time (204.545/8.04 = 25.44 MPH) 6. FORMULA: MPH X HANDICAP = POINTS 7. Titles are earned at specific point levels and the highest suffix may appear after the dog s name: BCAT = 150 points, DCAT = 500 points, FCAT = 1,000 points FCAT# = Each additional 500 points CAMPGROUNDS / RV INFORMATION RV Parking will be permitted at the Event site. Because of variable start-times for each CAT event, the exact number of runs/tests which can be completed on a given day is unknown. Sunset naturally will compromise the visibility of the judge(s), huntmaster and lure operator(s), but most significantly it will risk the safety of the running dogs. Therefore, no tests/runs will be conducted once daylight becomes too scarce to promote the wellness of the dogs and the skills of the field committee and event officials. In the unlikely case that a dog entered in the FAST CAT cannot complete its run/test because daylight has become too scarce to safely continue the event per the field committee s decision, its entry fees for that test will be refunded promptly. BCDC wishes to provide as much opportunity as possible to individuals seeking to test their dog s coursing ability but acknowledges that 85 entries is a realistic number of entries per Event.
