June 2008 If you have not seen this it bears reading. This is just one such story that is on the internet about this flea treatment. This is a very important message to anyone who has dogs and cats - -- to alert you to the hazard of using a new flea and tick preventative call ProMeris. This is a new product designed to be a more effective product than other flea/tick treatments that was just released this year. It is available thru a vet and not currently on-line. I got ProMeris this week for my dogs (6 Huskies and 1 Golden/Airedale), and the results were debilitating for nearly all of them including me. Since my incident this week, my vet has pulled it from his practice and alerted the manufacturer, Fort Dodge. Here are my results: within less than 2 hours after applying, 4 of my dogs had vomited 2-4 times, 3 were disoriented and stumbling, 1 was dragging his back leg, and 1 was salivating. I had very similar symptoms, like an allergic reaction my lips swollen, eyes very red and eyes, nose and mouth were stinging. I was very disoriented dizzy and not able to drive. All of my dogs were admitted to the hospital for vet care. 3 of them remained for IV fluids and 24 hour observation. I was in the emergency room. I m home now and so are the dogs. The vet bills were over $2500.00 and Fort Dodge is paying for them. Not only can the product cause this reaction, it has a highly noxious odor that permeated the house for over 3 days. Your dogs/cats might not have the same reaction, but give my results I wanted to help you become well-educated about this product. MACH Stirling Blackstone Spitfire CD, CDX, RE, earned her CD and CDX I 4 months with all 1 st placements Callie is owned by Susan Levasseur in RI. Stirling Wild Side owned by the Dilworths of CT took WB/BOS for 5 pt. Major at Columbia Terriers Specialty in April. Stirling Tunes of Glory, is #2 Airedale in Canada after 3 weeks of showing classes. He is co-owned by Regalridge Kennels of Nova Scotia. Ch. Stirling Power and Glory, in his first 2 shows earned 2 legs toward hi RN. Beginning his new career by placing 2 nd and 3 rd in classes of 28 dogs and being the only terrier. I want to thank the New England Terrier Club for the opportunity to judge the Sweepstakes on Memorial Day. I really enjoyed myself and I hope everyone else did too. I also want to thank the two stewards, David Ullman and Joan Martin for keeping everything running smoothly in the ring. Thank you for the gift of the shadow box wall clock, I love the Cairns on it and it will have a place of honor in my dog room. I would like to thank all who showed their dogs to me. I thought the entries were very nice. The Junior Handlers were excellent. I believe they all handled their dogs to the best of their ability, and if it were possible, everyone would have received a first place ribbon. Richard Grant
