A judge requesting the use of a ramp must give notice to the show superintendent/show secretary prior to judging. AKC approval is not required. The entire entry in a breed is to be examined in the same manner (ground, table, or ramp). At the discretion of the judge, the following breeds may be judged on the ground or on a ramp through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging: Lagotti Romagnoli, American Water Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels, English Springer Spaniels, Field Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniels, Cirnechi dell'etna, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Finnish Spitz, Keeshonden, Finnish Lapphunds, Norwegian Buhunds, Polish Lowland Sheepdogs, Spanish Water Dogs, and Norrbottenspets (Misc.). At the discretion of the judge through all levels of competition including Group and Best in Show judging, the following breeds may be judged on the ground, a ramp, or on a table: Boykin Spaniels and Whippets. The following breeds must be judged on a ramp through all levels of conformation competition: Sussex Spaniels, Basset Hounds, Bulldogs, Chinese Shar-Pei and Chow Chows. This extends to all conformation competition at AKC conformation dog shows and any AKC event where a conformation title may be earned. Ramps can be used in emergency situations to judge any breed. In an emergency situation, where use of a ramp is not indicated in the premium list, an exhibitor has the option of withdrawing their entry and receiving a refund. For the judging of juniors the ramp may be used at the discretion of the judge for the ramp optional breeds. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged. All Dogs Present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring. No gasoline or diesel generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this dog show is conducted. As specified in Chapter 12, Section 4 of the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, information contained on the entry form is required to be published in the club s show catalog. This information is also subject to publication in other media. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event's Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the dictates of law enforcement or of the owner(s) of the grounds and/ or facilities or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to, snow storms, hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including, but not limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the grounds, must be considered for the health and safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry fee will be made. The Club and its Superintendent caution all persons entering the show site and show grounds against all hazards which may exist, including, but not limited to: Condition of the site/grounds, parking/loading/unloading areas, entrances, floors and stairways, elevators and escalators, floor coverings, walkways, tenting/canopies, electrical appliances, cords and fittings, exercise pens, and the presence of animals. All persons should take into consideration this is a sporting event and dress, act and exercise caution appropriate for the activity involved. All persons entering the show, the grounds, site and show areas for whatever purpose do so entirely at their own risk. By virtue of entering the show, the entrant has indicated their acceptance of the terms listed in the premium list and assumes all risks involved. Important Note: PLease provide each of your crates containing dogs with a tag giving your name and a local phone number where you can be reached in case of emergency. This is an AKC requirement. EMT WILL BE IN ATTENDANCE DURING SHOW & TRIAL HOURS. The Wicomico Youth and Civic Center does not allow any food or drink for human consumption to be brought inside the building. No strollers allowed of any kind. No space for unentered dogs. Crates or grooming equipment NOT permitted on the Arena floor or in show aisles except in designated holding areas. Holding areas for temporary crating will be established in proximity to the ring. For a given breed, these areas may be used 15 minutes before breed judging commences and must be cleared by 15 minutes after Best of Breed. Crates have to be in the designated areas and must be attended at all times except when the exhibitor is in the ring. Holding areas will be monitored. Due to the increased number of crates and grooming tables, chairs will not be allowed in the handlers section. Private exercising pens NOT allowed in the building. Show location will be available after 12:00 NOON for setup on Tuesday for exhibitors. Dogs may be left in building overnight after each event. Security personnel will be on duty. The speaker will be Elizabeth D. Callahan, DVM, DACT, DABVP from Easton, Maryland. Dr. Callahan is a diplomat of both the American College of Theriogenologists (reproduction specialists) and the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. In other words, she knows her stuff and has the letters to prove it. The seminar should last about an hour and will include a basic overview of canine reproduction, with focus on the bitch s reproduction cycle. Topics to be discussed will include current advances in ovulation timing and advances in insemination by various methods, such as natural cover, vaginal artificial insemination, trans-cervical insemination and surgical intra-uterine insemination. We will also look at stud collection, semen evaluation and handling for chilled or frozen storage. We hope you will be able to join us on November 8th.
