Sheboygan County Meat Animal Sale P.O. Box 115 Plymouth, WI 53073 2016 Sheboygan County Meat Animal Sale Rules The Sheboygan County Meat Animal Sale Board of Directors has adopted the following rules. These rules govern only the eligibility to sell in the Meat Animal Sale, not the showing of livestock at the Sheboygan County Fair. Anyone not following rules 1-17 will be ineligible for the current year s Meat Animal Sale. All questions and concerns should be addressed to a member of the Meat Animal Sale Board of Directors, and not to the UWEX or Sheboygan County Fair Offices. 1. The sale is limited to member of Sheboygan County 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters headquartered in Sheboygan County. Participation is limited to 4-H and FFA members who are eligible to exhibit in the Jr. County Fair at the Sheboygan County Fair. 2. All animals must be owned by the participating member, family* or household** at the time of initial identification. Four (4) animals of each species may be identified into the program per exhibitor listed on the initial identification slip. *Family is described as biological, adopted or legal guardianship of youth. **A household is defined by adults and children that share the same permanent address. 3. For animals to be sold at the annual Meat Sale, exhibitors must meet educational requirements laid out in the Market Livestock Project Educational Requirements & Guidelines (attached). This will be updated as seen necessary by the Meat Sale Committee. A list of the educational programs that qualify will be maintained at the Sheboygan County 4-H Beef, Sheep and Swine Project Website (http:// sheboygan.uwex.edu/4-h-youth-development/4-h-projects/beef-sheep-swine-projects) and prior approval by the committee can be requested for other educational programs and opportunities. The number of educational points accumulated by exhibitors throughout the project year will be available at the same website. Attendance at any of the Meat Animal Sale approved qualifying meetings, regardless if it is specie specific or general, is open to all beef, sheep and swine members. All exhibitors wishing to qualify for the meat animal sale must have attended one quality assurance meeting during the current year, only one quality assurance meeting may be used as a qualifying meeting. Read the 4-H CLOVERLEAF CRIER newsletter and check the Sheboygan County 4-H Beef, Sheep and Swine Project Website for information of various activities and opportunities throughout the year. 4. An exhibitor may sell only one animal. The purchase contract signed by the buyer will determine where the purchase will be sent from the fair. Exhibitors will not be allowed to exchange non-sale animals with sale animals. 5. All animals qualifying for the sale must be sold at or above market price. Animals selling below market need not be sold. Sale limit, up to seventy three (73) head. The division of the number of animals sold is determined by the number of exhibitors in each species that weigh-in animals at the final weigh-in. 2015-2016 Sheboygan County Meat Animal Sale Chairperson Jonathan Wimmler Vice-Chairperson Mike Kitzerow Secretary Chelsey Winscher Treasurer Scott Mahloch Tim Schleicher Christal Mulder Tim Winscher Anna Kitzerow Chad Kohlman

6. Determination of sale eligibility: The Meat Animal Sale Board of Directors will make the final determination of sale eligibility by weight and placing. If an exhibitor has two animals eligible for the sale, the decision as to which animal will be sold in the sale will be at the discretion of the exhibitor, excluding champions. Exhibitors must notify a Meat Animal Sale Board Member of their decision within 15 minutes after the Champion class is judged. If no notification is given the Meat Animal Sale Board of Directors reserves the right to make the final determination and set the sale order. All Grand and Reserve Champion animals must be sold if the exhibitor meets the required Meat Animal Sale Rules. If an exhibitor has both Champion and Reserve Champion Animals; the Champion Animal must sell. No underweight animals are eligible for the Meat Animal Sale. CALCULATIONS FOR SALE QUALIFICATION AS FOLLOWS: Beef, Sheep & Swine will be calculated 100% by show ring placing. The first tie breaker is the placement of showmanship classes. The second tie breaker is based on educational meeting attendance points. The ratio of animals sold in beef, sheep and swine will be determined by a percentage of the number of animals in each species. 7. Sale standards for the animals are: STEERS & HEIFERS Division will consist of straight-bred beef and dairy steers/heifers. - The number of beef steers/heifers to dairy steers/heifers determines the ratio of beef animals sold from each division. - Minimum weight of 1000 pounds for beef animals and 1100 pounds for dairy animals to be eligible for Meat Animal Sale. - Maximum weight the buyer will be paying for a steer is: Dairy steer-1600 pounds and Beef steer-1500 pounds.
