This Trial is Dedicated to the Memory of Judy Brader Judith Carol Brader Judith Carol Baker was born in March 1953 and died unexpectedly in February 2018. She was the youngest of four daughters and is survived by two sisters, Janet Kidd and Charlotte Holzman, and nephews (Bob and Harold) and nieces (Cynthia and Laura). She was Godmother to Harold Holzman. Judy was raised with dogs in the household. Cats joined the mix when she visited cousins at a Minnesota farm. She attended Roanoke College and graduated with a degree in Biology. She was always very active in sports and excelled in basketball. So much so that she was named Roanoke's Woman s Intramural Runner-up in 1973. One of her college projects was the breeding of Bantam chickens. When she graduated, she even brought the flock home including her favorite, Crazy Bird. Judy worked for and retired from the Federal Government. She was a Contracting Officer for the US Office of Personnel Management at the time of her retirement in 2006. Her degree in biology and her genetics classes were not used on the job, but were very evident in her Basenji breeding program. Judy loved the Basenji breed and as a nod to her Swedish heritage, Judy's kennel name was "Thor". Judy brought in new African Basenjis to improve her lines. Several of her Basenjis are now in Sweden, Norway, and other parts of Europe. Judy had multiple breed and lure coursing champions. Judy has had dogs in the Top 20 for Lure Coursing in both ASFA and AKC. She has the #5, #7, and # 16 dogs listed in the ASFA Lifetime Top Twenty Hounds. She was very active in CHAMP. She was Treasurer and Trial Secretary for many AKC trials and CAT tests and she was the club's Delegate for ASFA & /AKC. AKC Coursing Events are permitted by AKC only if an AKC approved club complies with coursing trial AKC lure coursing rules and regulations. Club members volunteer their time to put on these events. Without such volunteers, there would be no lure coursing trails/tests. Please help us by joining any lure and volunteering your time to put on these fun events for our beloved Hounds. CHAMP has an annual meeting and our aging members are willing to teach new, inexperienced, energetic volunteers. We dearly miss Judy and her sudden passing was a shock to the Dog World including Conformation and Lure Coursing. Judy was valued friend who was always willing to volunteer, help newcomers and others. We'll see you over the Rainbow Bridge, Judy, where we know you are organizing a Lure Coursing trial! We miss you, Judy! Please Support Your Local AKC Lure Coursing Clubs! 7 2
