GENERAL RULES 1. All entries must be one year of age or older on the day of the test. 2. Each entry will be examined and may be measured with a wicket at inspection. Inspection shall take place prior any form of wrapping being applied the dog. In the opinion of the inspection committee, any entry found be lame, unfit compete, or a female in season, shall not be allowed enter and entry fees shall be refunded. 3. Dogs must run naked without collars or harnesses. Muzzles are allowed. No pinch collars, and no electronic training collars or devices are allowed." CCC recommends using a plain collar and lead, and we discourage the use of flexi leads for safety reasons. 4. Electric continuous loop machines will be used. Lures consist of white plastic bags. 5. The field committee reserves the right alter the course plan as required by weather and/or field conditions on the day of the trial. 6. The field committee reserves the right bar known aggressive dogs from the event site. 7. There will be a $5 fine assessed for any loose dog not taking part in the course in progress (per AKC). The following actions may result in a fine and/or being excused from the event: exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct, not picking up after one s dog, or littering in any area of the event. 8. NO ONE is allowed on the field without the express permission of the Field Chairman, except the appointed Field Committee. 9. There is NO SMOKING in the following areas: In and around the Paddock tent, in and around the Secretary's tent, and nowhere on the field itself. There will be two designated smoking areas, one in the parking lot, and one behind the club trailer. Please be respectful of others and use only these areas. DIRECTIONS TO THE FIELD FROM THE NORTH OR SOUTH ON I-5 - Take the Auburn Exit (Exit 18). Go Auburn and take the Enumclaw Exit Highway 164. Follow the signs Enumclaw (Highway 410), just before Enumclaw, turn right on 244th, go 456th and turn left. It becomes Warner. Stay on Warner the fairgrounds. GOING SOUTH ON I-405 OR COMING FROM THE RENTON AREA Go east on Maple Valley Highway (Highway 169), go through Black Diamond, continue on until 416th SE, turn left, then follow signs fairgrounds. COURSER ABILITY TEST; Offered all dogs, AKC registered, PAL, ILP or mixed breeds in the AKC program. Dogs over 12 must complete a course of 600 yards with 4 turns; for dogs under 12, the course is 300 yards with 4 turns. For complete rules and requirements visit akc.org. C.A.T. Title: Three titles will be awarded for dogs that pass the Coursing Ability Test the required number of times. These are suffix title that will appear on a dog s pedigree with a higher-level title superseding a lower level of title. Coursing Ability (CA) Awarded a dog that passes the Coursing Ability Test 3 times under at least two different judges. Coursing Ability Advanced (CAA)- Dog passes the Coursing Ability Test 10 times. Coursing Ability Excellent (CAX ) Dog passes the Coursing Ability Test 25 times. What must a dog do pass the C.A.T? The coursing Ability Test (C.A.T.) is a pass/fail. During a Test the dog runs the course once without any dogs. Because safety is of the utmost importance, the C.A.T. takes in consideration the individual dog pursuing qualification and therefore has two different course length accommodate the type and size of the entrant. In either case, dogs will chase a lure made of plastic strips. Dogs Less Than 12 Tall & Flat Faced Dogs. Any entrant that is less than 12 tall at the withers and /or brachycephalic shall run a 300-yard course with turns no more acute than 90 degrees. For a 300-yard course, a dug must complete the test in less than 1 ½ minutes Dogs More Than 12 Tall. Any entrant that is taller than 12 at the withers and not brachycephalic shall run a 600-yard course (or as close 600 yard as possible) with turns no more acute than 90 degrees. For a 600-yard course, a dog must complete the test in less than 2 minutes. In order pass, the dog must complete the course with enthusiasm and without interruption within the maximum amount of time for the course length. The judge keeps the official time and decides the merits of the dog s performance. If there is a question which course a dog should run, the judge will decide.
Fast CAT Regulations Chapter 16 of the AKC Regulations for Lure Coursing Tests and Trials (As of April 2016) Section 1. Purpose/Description. The purpose of the AKC Fast CAT event is provide all dogs and their owners an enjoyable, healthy activity in which they can participate. Dogs run singularly. The dog s time complete the 100 yard dash is converted in MPH. Dogs earn points based on their handicapped speed. Titles are awarded when a dog has accumulated a given number of points. Section 2. Regulations. All applicable administrative regulations governing Lure Coursing Tests shall apply Fast CAT events unless specifically addressed in this chapter. Section 3. Eligibility Enter. Fast CAT events are open all dogs at least 12 months of age that are individually registered with the AKC, recorded in the Foundation Sck Service (FSS) program, individually registered with a foreign or domestic registry organization whose pedigrees are acceptable for AKC registration, dogs granted a Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) number, dogs with AKC Limited or Conditional Registration, or dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. Dogs with breed disqualifications and monorchid/cryprchid dogs are eligible participate. Females in season may not enter. A dog may enter only once per event. (An event is defined by an event number.) Section 4. Entering an Event. All participants must fill out an entry form as provided in the club s premium list. A club may accept entries prior the event and/or a club may accept day-of-event entries. The specifics of how entries will be accepted must be explained in the premium. If a Fast CAT event is held in conjunction with a Lure Coursing event or Coursing Ability Test, the club may use the same premium however both event numbers must appear on the entry form. A club may limit the number of entries it will accept in a Fast CAT event. Additional stand-by entries above the limit may be taken at the discretion of the event committee and these dogs will be allowed run if time permits. Owners of stand-by dogs must be informed that they are on the stand-by list and may choose not participate. Section 5. Earning Points. A. The dog s time complete the 100 yard dash is converted in MPHs. Please see table in Section 17. B. A handicap system is applied a dog s MPH determine the number of points earned. The handicap system is based on the height of the dog at its withers: 18 or greater = handicap is 1.0. 12 up less than 18 = handicap is 1.5. Below 12 = handicap is 2.0. C. Points = MPH multiplied by the dog s handicap Section 6. Titles. Titles are earned by accumulating points. The following titles will be awarded: BCAT = 150 points; DCAT = 500 points; FCAT = 1,000 points; and FCAT followed by a number (e.g. FCAT2) for every additional 500 points. These suffix titles will appear on a dog s pedigree, with a higher level title superseding a lower level title.
