A Message From the President Dear friends, Annual reports provide a place for us to reflect upon and celebrate the year s accomplishments, thank the donors, sponsors, volunteers and partners who made them possible, and report back to the communities we serve on the progress we are making toward achieving our mission. By all accounts, 2017 was a record-setting year at PetSmart Charities. Through our in-store adoption program in every PetSmart store, we found homes for 560,000 pets - more than ever before! And, thanks to PetSmart s Buy a Bag, Give a Meal program, we donated and delivered more than 60 million meals to to help feed pets in need. As a strategic grant maker, PetSmart Charities issued more than $45 million in funding to animal welfare organizations and other charitable organizations that share our belief in the power of the human-animal bond. From grants to expand pet therapy programs to donations to support people and pets affected by natural disasters, we were proud to support some incredible partners who help drive our mission forward. None of this would have been possible without our partners, donors, volunteers, and PetSmart associates. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in enhancing the lives of pets and those who love them. Sincerely, David Haworth DVM, Ph.D President, PetSmart Charities

Our Mission To find lifelong, loving homes for all pets by supporting programs and thought leadership that bring people and pets together. 2017 PetSmart Charities Officers Steve Marton, Chairperson Eran Cohen, Co-Vice Chairperson Paulette Dodson, Co-Vice Chairperson Dr. David Haworth, President Dr. Roger Haston, Secretary Deborah Turcott, Treasurer Board of Directors Eran Cohen Ashley Dobbs Paulette Dodson R. Because of You We ve helped make a difference for homeless pets by finding loving homes for more than half a million pets in need in 2017 changing the lives of pets and those who love them. Pets like Henry, adopted from The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, who became the ultimate support system for his new pet parent, Sydney. I was going through some really tough times, he gave me a new sense of purpose. - Sydney, 2017 adoptive pet parent People like Mike, an Army Veteran, who leaned on his adopted pet Louie and our partners at Soldier s Best Friend for help transitioning back into civilian life. If it wasn t for this program, I probably wouldn t be here. - Mike, Soldier s Best Friend Graduate And, hundreds of homeless pets displaced by Hurricane Harvey who found loving homes thanks to partners like Last Chance Animal Rescue in Maryland. A lot of these animals came from areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.the ones here are healthy, happy and ready to go home. - Cindy, Last Chance Animal Rescue

Our Impact Across North America Pets adopted in 2017 Total: 568,926 U.S. - West 157,553 U.S. - East 194,645 U.S. - Central 188,391 Canada 28,337

Because of You We ve proactively prevented pet homelessness by partnering with forwardthinking organizations who support both pets and the people who love them. We helped keep pets and families together through support of organizations like St. Francis Pet Care, that provide low-cost veterinary care for those who need it most. All of our clients are low-income or in transition, but they depend on their pets for companionship, security and love. - Galey, St. Francis Pet Care By partnering with colleges of veterinary medicine across North America, we re creating positive philanthropic opportunities for the next generation of veterinarians, pets in need, and those who love them. We are there to help animals when they have nowhere else to go, no one else who will be there for them. - Dr. Kreisler, Midwestern University

Together, We re Making a Difference The 2017 hurricane season has been described as the most catastrophic and costliest season on record. Thousands of people and pets were impacted in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. We are grateful for the 300+ partners who donated their time and resources to help save the lives of many pets and later helped reunite them with their pet parents. Together, we successfully distributed nearly 400,000 pounds of food to impacted areas, deployed 19 semi-trucks with food and supplies and granted over $4 million toward relief efforts. In 2016, Our partners at PetSmart announced the Buy A Buy, Give A Meal program for every bag of dog or cat food purchased, PetSmart would donate a meal to PetSmart Charities for a pet in need. As the program wrapped in 2017 we successfully distributed a total of 63 million meals to pet shelters, animal welfare organizations and food banks exceeding our goal of 60 million meals. That s 6,700 tons of dog and cat food to 122+ donation locations serving pet shelters across the United States and Canada. Spay & neuter is the #1 way to reduce pet overpopulation. One surgery can impact hundreds of lives, improve communities and support the human-animal bond. In 2017, we hit a huge milestone of $100 million granted to support spay and neuter programs. Funds helped organizations like University of Florida secure a customized mobile spay and neuter trailer called VCOP Mobile. The mobile unit not only allows veterinary students to gain more hands-on surgical training, but also helps the school reach underserved communities and provide care to thousands of pets in need each year.
