Our Judge: Lois A. Sutton (Sutcott) I first fell in love with Bedlington Terriers when I saw a picture of one in a book during the sixties and decided that after reading all about the breed, one day I would have one. That day came in 1974 when there was a litter advertised in a newspaper and my husband bought me a blue puppy bitch, whose sire was Ch Bredonvale Smokey Joe and dam was Leasowes Chorus Girl - that was the start! I am still owned by a Bedlington who thinks that I should cater for her every whim, but I wouldn t have it any other way. I obtained my affix in 1978 and had my first judging appointment in 1984. I judged Bedlington Terriers at many Open Shows before I had the pleasure of awarding CCs for the first time at Paignton in 1993, and have given CCs on numerous occasions since. I last had the pleasure of judging at the Bedlington Terrier Championship Show in 2006 and look forward to judging them again this year. I also give CCs in Ibizan Hounds and have judged most Terrier and Hound breeds at Open level, along with Great Danes, as well as Terrier and Hound Groups at Open Level. EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with the new Kennel Club Guidelines, Exhibitors must display exhibit number/owner identification on their crate, cage or container at all times. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 18. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 19. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules & Regulations in force at the time of the publication of this schedule. All dogs must be registered or transferred at the Kennel Club before the Show. 20. The Committee is empowered to exclude or remove any dog that is not in a fit state for exhibition owing to disease, savage disposition or any other cause and all fees shall be forfeited. 21. The Committee will be most anxious for the care and safety of dogs brought for exhibition, but it must be distinctly understood by exhibitors that the Committee will not be responsible for any loss, detention of or damage to any dog, whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever, or from any act or omission of itself, its officers, servants or others, or the damage done by exhibits to any person or property. It is on this understanding only that entries are accepted. Exhibitors are responsible for any damage done by their dogs whilst present at the Show. 22. Every competitor making an entry at this Show will be deemed to have agreed to abide by Kennel Club Rules & Regulations, and it is under these conditions only that entries are received. 23. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 24. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event). 25. A dog may be disqualified by the Board from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees. 26. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. N.B. This Show has been exempted from Benching by the Kennel Club. Exhibitors are asked to take utmost care to prevent dogs fighting, or people being bitten. This is in the best interest of the breed in particular, and the canine world in general.
