If a dog is presented at a show and has a tail which has been cut in violation of these rules, the dog shall not be allowed to be shown. There shall be no preference for dogs with docked tails or for dogs with tails left in the natural state. In order to prevent dogs with incorrect tails from being docked to hide a faulty tail, USRC members may only dock tails on dogs within 7 days of birth. If a dog is presented at any USRC event and has a tail which has been docked after 7 days of age, the dog shall not be allowed to participate and shall be banned from future events. Dogs are to be shown in natural stance and may be baited with toys at the judge s discretion; no hand stacking is allowed. Double handling is encouraged. Adult classes will be moved (run) long enough for the judge to evaluate movement and fitness. You may change handlers as needed. Bring your own chairs, crates, and other comfort items for you and your dogs. Dogs will not be allowed to be tied-out at show site or ringside. Please use designated areas to exercise your dogs and clean up after them. Dress is informal. BREED SUITABILITY TEST INFORMATION The Breed Suitability Test (BST) is designed to select those Rottweilers that are worthy of being bred. The dog s conformationmust be judged of breeding quality and free of disqualifying faults. The dog must have a valid hip certification number and have a tattoo for identification. Once the conformation and soundness qualifications have been met, the dog s temperament is tested. This test includes a gun surenes test, a protection test, and a test to insure that the dog is stable around the public. The United States Rottweiler Club strongly believes that these tests are vital to maintain the Rottweiler in type and temperament and should be the cornerstone of any breeding program. BST Prerequisites Information for Owners & Handlers: The BST will be conducted according to the USRC regulations. The judgment of the Koermeister or Judge is final. No appeals are possible. BST critiques are not official until checked, recorded and signed by the Head Breed Warden and/or the Administrator of Records. After the BST is approved, the original copy will be forwarded to the dog owner. The BST paperwork must be complete and available for inspection on the day of the test. If this is not done, the BST will not be signed and will be deemed invalid. The dog may retest. Both the owner and handler must be USRC members. The owner and/or handler of any dog are liable for any damage caused by his or her dog. The dog must be registered with USRC. The dog must be tattooed. A microchip will be allowed in lieu of a tattoo provided the handler supplies a working scanner. The dog must have a USRC recognized hip certification. The dog must have passed the Schutzhund BH. The entry form for the BST must be sent to the Host Club before the entry closing date. Other BST Information:

The USRC Standard for the Rottweiler (FCI Standard #146/16.01.1996/GB) will be used for judging this event. Males shall be judged first, followed by females with females in season last. If a dog fails the character or protection phase of the BST two more attempts may be made. If the dog does not pass the BST on the third attempt, it will be deemed unbreedable. No further attempts will be allowed. All USRC sanctioned events for conformation shall be restricted to registered Rottweiler only. Dogs with Restricted USRC Registrations or AKC Limited Registrations may not enter a BST. Dogs born in countries where docking is forbidden by law, shall be shown with the tail left in its natural state, effective for all dogs born on or after June 1, 1999. If a dog is presented at the BST and has a tail, which has been cut in violation of these rules, the dog shall not be allowed to test There shall be no preference in critiquing dogs with docked tails or for dogs with tails left in the natural state.
