October 15, 2014 To The Nominating Committee for the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs This is my letter of intent to run for the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Board of Directors. My reasons are very simple. As a longtime supporter of the homeless dogs and cats in our community I believe in the good work of the organization and feel I can be an asset to the board. I have the passion and experience to make good decisions to support the mission statement of the Humane Society and I am familiar with many areas of the organization. Since my retirement I have continued my involvement with the Humane Society as a volunteer and recently was co-chair for the Auction for the Animals. I am willing to be an active board member and help in activities of the organization. Thank you for your consideration, Robbie Schwartz

November 17, 2014 To Nominating Committee for the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Letter of Intent to run for the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs Board of Directors. I have had an abiding interest in the welfare of animals: while in Texas I was involved with private rescue efforts for goats, taking them in and placing in good homes. I also did one on one instruction for the proper care of goats. I would like to continue helping animals in this area. I'm currently on the board of a private foundation and have been successfully selfemployed for over 27 years, said experience will enable me to help make sound financial decisions for the Humane Society. Being semi-retired will allow time for me to be an active board member. Currently I have been working with Mike Stoll to develop and implement a plan for the North side of the shelter to make a better environment for the dogs. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sydonia Poenisch

November 17, 2014 To the Nominating Committee for the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs I am advising you of my intent to run for the Board of Directors of the Humane Society and I ask for your consideration. I have served on the board for seven years-six as an active member and the last as President Emeritus. During that time I was treasurer for two years and president for three years. In addition I volunteer at the thrift store two days a week and as needed weekly. In the past I was president of my Dental Society in Florida and president of two different home owner associations totaling over 15 years. I have the time and the passion to continue working with the Society now and in the future and I look forward to our continued growth in the community. Thank you in advance for this opportunity. Sincerely, LAURENCE D. SCHWARTZ, DDS

November 18, 2014 Letter of Intent for HSPS Board Since moving to Pagosa Springs in 2004, I volunteered immediately at the shelter. With my husband John and my son Zachary in tow, we went to go see what the local shelter was all about and visit the pets that were there at the time. We walked every dog resident that day, it took a few hours, but we wanted to let each and every one know that we cared about them. From then on I walked dogs at the shelter for about 7 years until I found a job where I no longer had the flexibility of time to dedicate to walking the dogs (Wednesday Dog Walkers). I have also worked/supervised the kitchen area for the annual Auction for the Animals for 11 years since arriving in Pagosa. I have helped on so many adopt-a-thons and many special events including The Chocolate Auction for many years. Animals have always been a big part of my life, ever since I was a kid; I have always cared for and owned many, many pets. A few of the types of animals I have had were a pet dove, a horseshoe crab, a rooster, 2 chickens, 2 geese and their babies, rabbits, chinchillas, mice, snakes, Asian water Dragon, dogs and cats. Each was an extremely loved pet - not a farm animal or used for breeding. Each had a name, a bed or cage to feel safe and loved. We have adopted a few pets from the HSPS: 7 years ago a dog named Roadie (now is an 8 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix), a year and a half ago, Twinkie Pie who is a special needs cat, and we had also fostered one of the senior dogs when asked by the Executive Director, Robbie, back in 2009 - her name was Mattie and she had some major health problems, she was a foster failure when we decided to adopt her. Mattie is no longer with us; she passed away in 2012, but her last few years she knew she was very loved. If I can help in a bigger way then I already am doing with lost pets and finding homes for unwanted dogs and cats, maybe a new perspective to try, a fresh idea, I am willing to lend a hand when needed. I hope you will consider me for the Board of Directors. Sincerely, Diane C Maun
