Non-Regular Classes Dogs entered in any non-regular class must also be entered in a regular class of or for Exhibition Only - except Stud Dog and Brood Bitch whose get/progeny MUST be entered in a Regular Class. Stud Dog: for any sire and 2 or more of his get. Dogs need not be owned by the same person. Brood Bitch: Same as above for any dam and 2 or more of her progeny. Brace: for 2 dogs of either sex, need not be owned by the same person, but must be handled by one person on one lead. SEXUALLY ALTERED DOG CLASSES Eligibility for the Sexually Altered Dog Classes shall be limited to dogs over 6 months of age which have been sexually altered by veterinary procedure. Points MAY NOT be carried from the regular competition judging to the Altered Dog Class judging. These classes will be judged immediately after Best of Breed of the regular classes. Two classes will be offered: Altered Male & Altered Female Classes will be placed first through fourth in both sexes, the first place winner from each class will be declared Winners and the second place winner will be declared Reserve Winners. The Altered Winners Male and the Altered Winners Female will then compete for Best of Breed Altered and Best of Opposite Sex Altered in breed. PARADE OF VETERANS parade is for dogs 7 years of age or older. A personalized BMDCC medallion will be awarded to each participant in the Parade of Veterans. There is no fee to enter the parade but each dog must also be entered in a regular class or for Exhibition Only. Please include a brief write-up on you veteran (no more than 250 words) to be read during the parade. OBEDIENCE & RALLY OBEDIENCE A prize and rosette will be awarded to the Highest Qualifying Bernese Mountain Dog in the Edmonton Kennel Club trial Friday, August 9, 2013. In addition, the HQS Bernese Mountain Dog in each Obedience and Rally Obedience class will receive a prize and rosette. JUVENILE, VETERAN & 3-GENERATION SWEEPSTAKES Juvenile Sweepstakes - Divided by sex: 3-6 months / 6-9 months / 9-12 months / 12-15 months / 15-18 months. All dogs competing in Juvenile Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class except for puppies aged 3-6 months. These puppies may enter from the Exhibition Only (3-6 months) class Veteran Sweepstakes - Divided by sex: 7-9 years / 9-11 years / 11+ years. All dogs competing in Veteran Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class or for Exhibition Only. 3-Generation Sweepstakes - three dogs in a 3-generation direct line (e.g., mother/father, son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter), not necessarily owned by the same person. Three dogs are considered one entry. All dogs competing in this Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class or for Exhibition Only. Dogs competing in the class may be spayed or neutered. Sweepstakes Prizes: 1 st place 30% / 2 nd place 20% / 3 rd place 15% / 4 th place 10% Rosettes will be awarded for Best in Sweepstakes, Best of Opposite Sex and 1 st through 4 th in each class. The remaining 25% will be retained for ribbons and administration. Each participant in the Veteran Sweepstakes will receive a rosette.

Due to consistently fluctuating currency rates, discounted cheques will not be accepted. Personal cheques will be accepted, however, they are to be payable in Canadian funds. If you send a cheque in US funds, it must be made out for the full amount of the entry and no exchange will be refunded to the exhibitor. Please do not mark cheques Payable in Canadian Funds or At Par. They will not be cleared by the banks. CKC NON-MEMBER PARTICIPATION FEE 24-12-3. Non-member participation fee a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian who is not a CKC member. The fee will match the ERN fee. b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be canceled. c) The Premium List must carry a note stating that these fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by non-ckc members and are not applicable to CKC members. ATTENTION ALL FOREIGN EXHIBITORS - ERN NUMBERS Effective Jan. 1992, all dogs that are foreign born and foreign owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC events no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an event registration number (ERN). This ERN number does not register a dog with the CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act, but rather enables a foreign owned dog to be awarded titles by the CKC. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN number, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog s foreign registration certificate with a cheque or VISA/Mastercard number, (expiry date, cardholders name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of ERN number. The fee is $59.40 + 13% HST. ERN number must be applied for within 30 DAYS of the FIRST day of entering a CKC event. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. If because of riot, civil disturbance, or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 2. ENTRIES WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED AFTER CLOSING DATE. Receipts, judging schedules, and exhibitor passes can be retrieved from the dogshow.ca website - www.dogshow.ca 3. 19.7 It shall be the duty and obligation of the show-giving club to see that a judge, club official, volunteer, or any participant at an event held under these rules is not subject to indignities. The Conformation Show Committee Chair shall promptly report to the CKC any infringement of this regulation, and the Discipline Committee shall have the authority to take such action as it deems fit on receipt of a report indicating that this has occurred. Rule 19.7 4. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH WHILE ON THE GROUNDS. You are responsible for cleaning up if you permit your dog to relieve itself. Failure to do so may result in being expelled for one day s showing by the Superintendent. 5. All empty rings are to be kept free of dogs. 6. SHOW PRECINCTS: Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Assoc.; excluding the commercial booth space. 7. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES. If not in competition the dog must wear a collar and be on leash a maximum of six (6) feet or appropriately confined in the benching CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Section 1. A dog awarded WINNERS at a championship show held under these Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be provided hereunder. Section 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: Dogs competing 8** 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 ** includes the dog awarded Winners In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall NOT be included in the calculation for championship points. To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded WINNERS, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule as set forth above. The new system provides for additional points, provided that the dog has defeated another dog, either at the breed level or at the group level, if a dog awarded WINNERS also placed in the Group, as listed hereunder.
