Junior Showmanship Competition Sunday, October 10, at Noon. Held under CKC Rules. Classes Offered: Conformation: Pee Wee (non-competitive); Junior Novice, Intermediate Novice, Senior Novice, Junior Open, Intermediate Open, Senior Open. Age Structure: Pee Wee 4-6, Junior 7-11 and Senior 12-18. Obedience: Junior; Pre Novice, Novice & Open, Intermediate; Pre Novice, Novice & Open, Senior; Pre Novice, Novice & Open. Entries: $2.00 payable at registration, with $1.00 contributed to the Provincial Finals fund. Entries will be taken Sunday, 10:00-11:00 a.m. Dogs handled in the competition must be entered in the show/trial or exhibition on that day. Awards Conformation: Rosettes for first to fourth in each competitive class and for Best Overall. Participation ribbons for all others. Obedience: Rosettes for Qualifying Score, first to fourth in each class. ATTENTION ALL FOREIGN EXHIBITORS - ERN NUMBERS Effective Jan. 1992, all dogs that are foreign born and foreign owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC events no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an event registration number (ERN). This ERN number does not register a dog with the CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act, but rather enables a foreign owned dog to be awarded titles by the CKC. Each dog must have its own number. To obtain an ERN number, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog s foreign registration certificate with a cheque or VISA/Mastercard number, (expiry date, cardholders name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of ERN number. Cost $55.00. ERN number must be applied for within 30 DAYS of the FIRST day of entering a CKC event. ENTRY FORMS NOT THE SAME SIZE & IN THE SAME FORMAT AS THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM ENCLOSED, WILL BE REJECTED. PLEASE USE THE OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM ENCLOSED. PLEASE MAKE A SEPARATE ENTRY FORM FOR EACH OBEDIENCE CLASS CLASSIFICATIONS The following CKC regular conformation classes (divided by sex) will be provided: Junior Puppy: dogs - 6 months of age/under 9 months Senior Puppy: dogs - 9 months of age/under 12 months 12-18 month: dogs - 12 months of age/under 18 months Canadian Bred: dogs - born in Canada, champions in any country excluded Bred by Exhibitor: dogs - owned and handled in the ring by the breeder Open: for all dogs over 6 months of age and eligible for registration with the CKC Specials Only: dogs which are registered individually in the records of the Canadian Kennel Club or have an ERN (Event Registration Number) and have attained championship status may be entered in the Specials Only Class. Entry of a dog in Specials Only is not prohibited on the grounds that the title of champion has not been confirmed by the C.K.C., but if it is found later that the dog had not attained championship status before the entry had been made, then all awards attained at the show will be cancelled. The entry of a Listed Dog in this class is NOT allowed, except for foreign born Miniature Dachshunds under one year of age. The following CKC obedience classes will be provided: PreNovice - for any dog that has not earned the title of Pre Companion Dog in Canada or the title of CD in Canada or the USA. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A person may enter more than one dog in this class and must have an additional handler for each dog when they are judged together in group exercises. This is an elective class and not a requirement to advance to the Novice Class. Novice A - For dogs who do not have a C.D. Must be handled by owner or immediate family member. Novice B - For dogs who do not have a C.D. title in Canada. For trainers, multiple entries, or dogs who have earned titles in another country. Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. Novice C - For dogs that have earned the title of CD, CDX OR UD. Multiple entries permitted. Scores are not eligible for High in Trial. Open A - For dogs who have earned the title C.D. in Canada, but have not earned the title of C.D.X.. Must be handled by owner or immediate family member. Open B - For dogs who have earned the title C.D. in Canada. Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. Utility - For dogs who have earned the title C.D.X. in Canada. Dogs in this class may be handled by any person. Rally Novice A Dogs entered in this class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (RN) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or member of their immediate family. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Dogs that have earned titles or are not the owners may enter in the Novice B class. All exercises are judged on leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. Rally Novice B Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in the Rally Advanced class has been earned. The owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged on leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Rally Advanced A This class is for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN) title but have not won the Rally Advanced (RA) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate family. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Rally Advanced B This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN) title. Upon completing the Rally Advanced (RA) title a dog may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any person may handle dogs in this class. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Rally Excellent A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (RA) title, but have not won the Rally Excellent (RE) title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. A dog may not be entered or exhibited in this class after official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title (RE). No dog may be entered in both Rally Excellent A & B at any one trial. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate family. All exercises are judge off leash and the dog must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Rally Excellent B This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Advanced (RA) title. A dog may compete in this class indefinitely. Any person is allowed to handle a dog in this class. All exercises are judged off leash and dogs must enter and leave the ring on leash. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Rally Advanced Excellent Upon completion of the Rally Excellent title, qualifying scores may be accumulated from Rally Advanced B and Rally Excellent B to earn the Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) title. To receive the RAE title, a dog must qualify ten (10) times in both Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent at the same trial. The title will appear at the end of the dog s name and a numeric designation will indicate the number of times the dog has met the requirements, i.e. RAE2, RAE3, etc. To be eligible to compete in these trials, the dog must be 6 months of age and registered or be eligible for registration with the CKC, have an ERN, PEN or a CKC Miscellaneous Certificate number. A dog may be spayed, neutered or debarked.

Pre-Show Services Arrive relaxed, EKC is pleased to offer the following pre-show services: RESERVED BENCHING: Spaces are approximately 8 w x 10 d at a cost of $10. All proceeds will be split between the EKC Rescue and the 2010 Canadian Junior Handling finals held at our 2010 Fall Show. Bench with a friend or in a group. We ll try our best to accommodate your wishes. Please indicate who or with what group in the Bench With section of the form below. EKC will attempt to honour all requests. All reservations must be submitted with payment on the form below. Space for Reserved Benching will be limited and there will also be unreserved space with limited access to power. PRE-PAID POWER: You won t need to send out a search party for the power guy when you arrive at the show. EKC offers pre-paid power, but only if you have a reserved benching spot. If you require a power outlet you can pre-order it for $85 per outlet. Exhibitors please note, the Club is not responsible for your electrical needs if you require power without a reserved benching spot and pre-order. MOVING A CLASS DOG TO SPECIALS A DOG WHICH IS INDIVIDUALLY REGISTERED IN THE RECORDS OF THE CKC OR HAS AN ERN NUMBER AT THE TIME OF CLOSING, AND HAS COMPLETED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 20 OF THE DOG SHOW RULES, AFTER THE CLOSING DATE AND TIME FOR ENTRIES FOR A SHOW, BUT WHOSE CHAMPIONSHIP IS UNCONFIRMED BY THE CKC MAY BE TRANSFERED FROM ONE OF THE REGULAR CLASSES TO SPECIALS ONLY PROVIDING THE TRANSFER IS SUBMITTED TO THE SHOW SECRETARY IN WRITING AT LEAST ONE (1) HOUR PRIOR TO THE OPENING OF THE SHOW, BY THE OWNER OR HANDLER. WHEN ONE OR MORE ALL-BREED CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS OR SPECIALTY SHOWS ARE HELD ON THE SAME DATE, SAME VENUE AND IN CONJUNCTION, THE MOVING OF THE CLASS DOGS TO SPECIALS MUST BE COMPLETED NOT LESS THAN ONE (1) HOUR PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED OPENING OF THE FIRST (1ST) SHOW.

GENERAL INFORMATION 1. ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED AFTER THE CLOSING DATE in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by action of Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. If because of riot, civil disturbance, or other acts beyond the control of the Club, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 2. ENTRY FEES WILL BE REFUNDED WHEN A BITCH ENTERED IN OBEDIENCE COMES INTO SEASON after entry of the bitch has been submitted if a Veterinarians certificate, certifying that the bitch was in season within the ten day period preceeding the trial, is delivered to the Show Secretary on or before the date of the trial. 3. ENTRIES WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED AFTER CLOSING DATE. Receipts, judging schedules, and exhibitors passes will be mailed. 4. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON LEASH WHILE ON THE GROUNDS. You are responsible for cleaning up if you permit your dog to relieve itself outside the show building. Failure to do so may result in being expelled from the building for one day s showing by the Superintendent. 5. All empty rings are to be kept free of dogs. 6. SHOW PRECINCTS: Edmonton Northlands Agridom Hall A excluding the commercial booth space and the front foyer. 7. ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT UNDER CONTROL AT ALL TIMES. If not in competion the dog must wear a collar and be on leash a maximum of six (6) feet or appropriately confined in the benching area. COMMERCIAL BOOTH SPACE A limited amount of commercial booth space will be available at the show building at $17.50 per linear foot,(inclusive of all applicable taxes) for three days (sold in 10ft. increments). Please indicate if special power required to operate equipment (will be invoiced from Show Tech). A dog awarded WINNERS at a championship show held under these Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be provided hereunder. Section 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: Dogs competing* 1 2 3 to 5 6 to 9 10 to 12 13 or more Points allocated 0 1 2 3 4 5 * includes the dog awared Winners In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall be included in the calculation for championship points. To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded WINNERS, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule as set forth above. The new system provides for additional points, provided that the dog has defeated another dog, either at the breed level or at the group level, if a dog awarded WINNERS also placed in the Group, as listed hereunder.
