Taylor, and Big Cypress WMAs during regular hunting seasons Species Conditional Species Season after Small Game in all but Big Cypress Florida Python Challenge: Competition that ran from January 12 through February 10 of this year No Python Challenge planned for 2014

Python Challenge 2013 Results Permittees 24 registered 42 pythons removed Turned in by 7 permittees, most working in teams Most = 18 Longest = 363.7 cm (11.9 ft), 28.1 kg* (62 lbs) General public 1558 registered 26 pythons removed Turned in by 14 people, some working in teams Most = 6 Longest = 434.5 cm (14.3 ft), 53.8 kg (118.6 lbs) *Did not count for prize b/c turned in alive

EIRAMP University of Florida has initiated the Everglades Invasive Reptile and Amphibian Monitoring Program Regular routes will be surveyed throughout South Florida to both detect new infestations and remove individuals from established populations Main focus pythons but includes other species FWC funded EIRAMP during state FY2012-13 and will continue to fund through 2013-14 Over past year ~160 Burmese pythons removed from state lands

Northern African python aka Rock python (Python sebae) Singular sightings in western Dade County in 2002, 2005 and 2008 Occurrences and surveys ramped up in 2009 Over 30 NAPs seen or captured in small section of Dade to date Sheds and eggs also found Monthly surveys conducted during dry season each year Three from 2012-13 Seeing them more in residential areas two attacks on dogs Unlike with Burmese, feel eradication is possible

Nile Monitors (Varanus niloticus) Had more single reports in SW Ranches and one was removed by a resident Trapping has not been successful Breeding along C-51 canal in Palm Beach County Regular surveys by UF EIRAMP crew and FWC have resulted in removal of seven monitors but none sighted in past several surveys

Argentine black and white tegu (Tupinambus merianae) Dade county spreading from private lands to natural areas FWC hired trap technician to trap along periphery UF, Zoo Miami, USGS and NPS have all done work in Dade this year FWC hired biologist to remove animals and assess situation in Hillsborough county Over 160 removed in 2013

Oustalet s chameleons Native to Madagascar Grow to be one of the largest chameleon species Largely insectivores Breeding population in an avocado grove in Florida City FWC, UF, and Zoo Miami spearheaded year-long removal effort 118 removed this year vs 300 from last year

Veiled chameleons Native to Yemen and surrounding countries Also large Largely insectivores Breeding population in Hendry County and a newly discovered population in Dade 47 removed from Dade last year

Exotics Reporting Hotline 1-888-IVE-GOT-1 (1-888-483-4681) Liz Barraco, FWC Hotline operator, Pet Amnesty Coordinator Hotline developed in cooperation with the Nature Conservancy, Everglades National Park, and FWC Working our way up from the Keys to get the hotline staffed 24 hours with first responders New feature allows exotic pet owners to give up conditional species 24/7/365 Hotline also provides option for reporting exotic fish www.ivegot1.org
