President: Terri Gregson gregsons4@sbcglobal.net Editor: Garth Gregson gregsong@hotmail.com Over the past 12 years in conjunction with a Volunteer Photographer we have provided a location at the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds before and during our Tuesday classes to set up a backdrop to photograph dogs and their Owners/ Family with a Holiday/Christmas theme. This year is our second year with Reg Schaffer of Dog Gone Digital as our Photographer. Last year we donated funds toward helping a recently adopted puppy with parvo, and the year before helped pay for medications for two elderly dogs and a cat. We have also donated money to two emergency vet hospitals as a pay it forward opportunity. We asked them to apply our donations to the next emergency that walked through the door. Mixed and rare breeds welcome! All sits and downs in a separate ring. Preentries judged in pre-entry order. Please be ready at ringside. Reasonable corrections allowed. No severe disciplining allowed in the ring or on the grounds. Exercises may be repeated at judge s discretion. Reasonable training aids allowed at judge s discretion. MBDTC will be hosting one of the utility rings on Feb 10th This is another great opportunity to get your dog in the ring. If you have never been to a workshop, come to ours in December and then you will be experienced and ready for another workshop in February! Lets set up carpools and go together and support one another in this journey we are on! To AOCNC CLUBS: This is one early reminder to AOCNC club members that the winter workshop is on Sunday Feb. 10, 2019. There will no longer be day of match entries. So please tell your members to sign up early when the flyer comes out since there will be a steadfast deadline for entries. The winter workshop did not make as much money as in the past due to expenses. If the winter workshop continues to not be as profitable, it was discussed at the Aocnc meeting of no longer having the winter workshop. Therefore, please encourage your members to participate in showing at the match so we can have better attendance. Also, I have not had the chance to ask early for volunteer clubs to host judging the rings. Listed below are the rings needed to be judged and attached is the approved map for the 2019 winter workshop. Jackson (winter workshop coordinator) Message from the President This past weekend I had the opportunity to participate in two obedience trials. I was disappointed to see far fewer people and dogs participating and asked what can we do to help stop this trend. One thing that I think we can try to do as a club is to focus on helping our new club members and class participants to be comfortable stepping into the ring. We can be mentors to help. If you would like a mentor to help you take the first step and enter a workshop, let me know and we will find a mentor for you!
